bash cal all you want but he wants it just as much if not more than any of us. The man brought us back from the dark ages gave us a title and multiple final fours. Unfortunately, some recruits have stayed close to home or they wanted to be the man. Cal will get his. He knows the changes that need to be made and I guarantee he will have a top 3 class in 2019.

People ***** because all we recruit is OAD players yet this team has multiple yr players and he has something to build upon. I don't care what draft express says most of these guys will be back.

Finally, we all know cal is 2 steps ahead of all of us I'm sure he has a game plan set in motion to finish out this season and recruit big time for 2019. We have 3 really good players coming in next year and we will retain most of this team. They will improve throughout the season. If you give up that's on you but be prepared for the repercussions of your actions. Cat paw doesn't forget trust in cal he will right the ship

The guy knows what needs to change and he knows what needs to be done. He will fix this, he always does. Remember 2014? This is very similar to that team

Y'all know who the main Debbie's are and some regulars tonight posted stupid **** as well go look at their threads so they can be called out next time we are doing well. The season is far from over and these guys are just now trying to play as a team. It will get better. I'll take an 8 seed and my chances in the tournament, like 2014

This whole fan base turned into a bunch of whiny *** b!tches after Cal got here. We lost last year barely to the National Champs. Cal puts us close almost every year and only K does it better. Can we go get coach K you whiners think?

There's no doubt Cal wants it. No doubt in my mind, but things have changed. He's not getting top end talent and kids are still going to leave early.
Go ahead and continue to think most of these kids are coming back, I don't see it. They didn't come here to be sophomores, nobody comes here to be sophomores. Cal tells these kids to NOT come here if you think you're going to be here 4 years. That is why the culture is what it is and now it's going to start to really hurt the program.
Hopefully the NBA steps in and changes this thing to the baseball rules.

We’re fine. I hate losing at home, but Florida is really good. Hopefully we can get a win against Miss St, and then knock off highly ranked WVU next Saturday, then we’re back on track.

I have tried to say this so many times that some of the fans don't understand what shape we were in before Coach Cal arrived in Lexington. We wasn't receiving 4* or 5* players in Tubby's last 4-5 years and Gillepsie's 2 years. We were getting 3* players and maybe a 4* player but we wasn't receiving the 5* players Coach Cal has brought to Lexington, Ky. We constantly was getting 8 or 9 seeds in the NCAA Tourney and losing in 1st or 2nd round in Tubby's last 3-4 years and Gillepsie we were a 10 seed and lost in 1st round and his second year we were in the NIT and lost to Notre Dame. It was a terrible 6-7 years between Tubby and Gillepsie. We now have with Coach Cal in 8 years have made it to 6 Elite 8's and 4 Final Fours and a National Championship in his 8 years at Kentucky and we have been #1 or #2 Recruiting in Coach Cal's 8 years. We have Quickley, Johnson, and Herro so far next year and I am sure Coach Cal has B Plan for the next couple of recruits if it is Wiseman or Montgomery. Lets just remember where Coach Cal has Kentucky in his 8 years and be thankful what he has done in our recruiting the amount of wins, SEC Championships, Makng the Final Four 4 times in 8 years and a National Championship and his Recruiting is Outstanding. Lets not send Coach Cal out the door because he does want what we all want and that is going to the Final Four and winning Championships. Just Trust Coach Cal.

How many losses did UK take with Brandon Knights team, or the Twins first year? If you thought those teams were going to make a title run, youre a liar.

These debbie downers crack me up. If this team makes a title run I hope they get hernias.
The fact that “If this team makes a title run” is a statement that you feel completely comfortable making is disconcerting. I do not want to live in a world where there are people as irrational as this. Unbelievable.

I wonder why in the year 2018 Tubby and BCG are still brought up as justification points on anything occurring today. 12 and 9 years later they are still used as punching bags as arguments about critiques on the here and now.

Every coach has their ups and downs. Coach K, Izzo, Saban, Williams, Knight, Rupp, etc., and Cal is no different. Some people act like he fell in the top of the mountain. He didn't get to UK by accident, the man knows what he's doing.

I have to laugh at all the rec league coaching gurus who say "Cal needs to..." You guys coaching your kids at the Y need to relax unless you think you could go walk into UK's practice this week and get a bunch of 18-19 year old soon-to-be millionaires to listen to you.

So far I've read that UK needs to play zone more, press more, change how they play man, shoot outside more, shoot inside more, recruit less talented players...and on and on. By all means, please show up at practice this week and bestow your wisdom on the UK coaching staff.

I think if this team gets healthy and Green is 100 percent, plus Vanderbilt they will quickly improve. If Knox can find his game again by the tournament it would be a strong team if they learn to play together, but right now its looking rough.

Yep, 6 Elite Eight appearances, 4 Final Fours, 2 Finals and 1 Championship. Overall we’ve had better success than any team in the tournament since 2010. 2010 and 2012 were the best fully healthy teams we’ve had. 2014 and 2015 we had had players we needed out with injury. Without those injuries we have 3 championships under Cal. If you look at the record it very similar to UNCheat.

Couldn't agree more. Everyone keeps saying that most of these guys will return to build a super team next year but I'm not counting on it. I'm fine with all the elite guys who are guaranteed lottery picks leaving, but Cal has also created another level to this with comments like "don't come here if you're going to be here 4 years." It's just encouraging the second-level guys like Dakari, Briscoe, Lamb and others to get out as soon as possible and to go play overseas or take a shot in the D-League and maybe you'll get up to the NBA after a few years. It seems like staying for a second or third year is not an option some of these guys are willing to accept, so playing in Romania becomes more appealing than staying in Lexington and making a run at a title. I've just come to expect that most everyone will leave. Maybe I'm crazy but I'm not expecting Shai, PJ, Wenyen, or Wynyard to be here next year, hell, maybe even SKJ. Wynyard probably goes the Humphries route and plays in New Zealand or Australia and some of the other guys will choose to go play in a European garbage dump. It's a foregone conclusion that Vanderbilt, Hami, and Knox are already out the door, but I'm not holding my breath hoping that some of these other guys will be back.

I don't bash Cal but that doesn't mean I don't want him to change his recruiting and system. If he wants it as bad as we do, I'd respectfully ask him what he's doing to achieve it. The days of "Kentucky eats first" are over, at least for now. We also aren't the gold standard, we are silver with a bit of tarnish.

Two years of an idiotic hire in BCG aren't the dark ages. We were elite before Cal and we'll be elite after Cal. Please stop making him into our Messiah. He is a coach, that's it. Like all of us he has his faults. You can't say with any seriousness that Cal knows what changes need to be made. That is more Cal worship and riding that train is getting a bit old. Cal has a huge ego and for all his good qualities, he is very arrogant. That makes change both difficult and unlikely.

I don't think he has a plan at all. Not this year. And for recruiting, it would have been great if he had recruited big time for 15,16,17 and 18. I'm glad you're so sure things are changing in 19. 4-5 of the main players on this team are gone. Deal with it. We are not returning a talented nucleus.

As for the board remembering, that's fine. I've never been shy about my opinion. I said several years ago that Cal won't win another title here. His system gets us close, that's great, but it doesn't seal the deal. We caught lightening in a bottle once. That team had talented senior leadership and overwhelming freshmen, plus some very good sophomores. Duplicate that and we'll win it again. Otherwise, I'll say again, Cal won't win another title here.

I'm thinking a big part of this recent recruiting slump is covered here:

https://kentucky.rivals.com/news/column-it-s-time-for-calipari-to-punch-back

"Duke tells kids they are set for life if they pick the Blue Devils. Clearly that's flawed. What about the six players that have transferred from the Blue Devils after being recruited over during their time in Durham. Are those players set for life?"

IIRC, Cal has said he doesn't/won't do "negative" recruiting. I think Duke is engaging in all sorts of negative recruiting, particularly regarding Cal and (secondly) UK. I think they take the Higgins thing and trash the UK fans and "culture." Stuff like that.

Call has to use (among other points) the quote above and point out to these guys that UK players have done and are doing far better than Duke recruits in the NBA. I'd point out all the early flameouts, etc. Capel is scum and I'm certain he's doing this and more - he'd lie outright to a recruit about us, while I'm not advocating that. We can rely on actual facts to point out all the bad stuff about Duke.

Very true. We're still getting 5 star studs who are really good players. The problem is that they aren't "NBA good" yet and everyone knows it, but regardless they still continue to leave after a year or two.

Those teams had something that every Calipari Final Four team since 1996 has had:

A top 5 superstar recruit on the roster.

2011 had Brandon Knight

2014 had Julius Randle

This team doesn't have it.

This team would have to override 21 years worth of John Calipari history to make a title run and reach a Final Four. Last year's team couldn't even override that history and they had 3 guys in Fox, Monk, and Bam who were light years better than anyone on this roster, in addition to two senior contributers in Willis and Hawkins.

Just cannot see it happening.

This is spot on! You ever get the feeling that Cal is always trying to improve his public image? I mean, the notion throughout the media and the rest of the country is that Calipari is a selfish, dirty, cheating scumbag. All of us in the Big Blue Nation know it's not true, but it seems like he tries to play the nice guy angle far too often with comments like "we don't do negative recruiting against other schools," and even with some of his coaching decisions in hopes that some point people will stop thinking all that about him. The 2012 title game against Kansas is a perfect example of this. We were destroying them in that game and then he called the dogs off and it turned into a battle. It just seems like he doesn't really want to beat an opponent's brains in for fear that the media might crush him for humiliating an overmatched opponent. I wish he would just embrace his public perception as an ******* and play the bad guy angle from time to time since everyone hates us anyway. We know Cal does things the right way, but maybe he needs to get back to doing them with a chip on his shoulder.
