It seems like a lot of Cal's teams have had trouble getting the ball inbounds late and in a tight game. Were we running an in bounds play when we threw it away there at the end?? I don't think so. Seems like we would have a go to play that sets up our best free throw shooter. Not bashing a good win. Was just wondering what every one elses thoughts were. Nearly cost us the game.

Having been watching fairly closely now for eight prior seasons, and now 17 regular season games into this ninth season, it seems clear to me that Calipari doesn't have ANY inbounds "plays" -- not from under the basket; not inbounding after an opponent's basket in the face of a press -- nothing. "Why?", you ask. Who knows?

You know what? Tubster doesn't ring any bells as a head coach, but he would make a gnarly X's and O's assistant in the hopefully only hypothetical event that anything ever happened to The Hair. Tubby used to draw up the best inbounds plays ever.

Seemed to me more inexperience as after that Cal was on them signaling you could call a time-out instead of turning it over. But, Diallo, Knox, and PJ make some pretty poor passes.

There are no "But's" here. You can't compare games. You can't say “well, so and so blew them out and we only won by 3". I don't care what anybody says, that is a tough place to play, especially for a team this young.
Vanderbilt hit our guys with everything they had and still lost by 7 even though we were down a point guard, shooting guard, power forward and a center.
At least we didn't lose to Boston College, NC State or at home to Michigan.
look around the college landscape, everyone struggles and loses games they shouldn't.
I guess it's okay for Michigan State to eke out a win in overtime against a very bad Rutgers team AT HOME, but it's a sin to ONLY beat Vanderbilt on the road by 7. Freakin' Michigan State is possibly the most talented team on the country.

You’re not really comparing Rutgers and Vandi are you? Rutgers has beat St Johns, Wisconsin, Seton Hall....they played Mich St close at Rutgers and almost won at MSU.

His question was about in-bound plays. After many seasons I can say we literally have none. I don’t particularly care, but we have definitely turned it over a lot on these plays over the years. Our defense on in-bounds has been almost as bad

I assume it’s just one thing Cal doesn’t put much into. Or maybe with such young teams, there just isn’t enough practice time to spend working on these plays.

Rutgers might have beaten Seton Hall, which is the only decent team you mentioned besides MSU (sorry, but Wisconsin and Saint Johns are garbage), but they also lost at home to Hartford (not Harvard, Hartford) and Stony Brook.
As far as inbounds plays, yeah, Cal has 1 and that's tossing it up to a tall player near the sidelines, it's pretty lame, but I think it's just because, like you said, there are more important things to work on in limited practice hours than inbounds plays.

I agree, that inbounds pass was a terrible decision. A T.O. would have been nice.
Washington has really improved on his turnover issues, he was really bad in November and the beginning of December, but that pass there was awful and it made me immediately think of our upcoming game against West Virginia. Eight not want Washington handling the ball much in THAT game.

I think the youth part plays a huge role in the execution or better yet, the lack there of.

Washington has been playing very well, but he made several terrible passes against Vandy. He lead us in turnovers.

Agree completely. He gets paid way too much and has nothing prepared .

NO, no but. It was a good win! And it was ONE inbounds play. Stop acting like we have been having lots of inbound problems. Smh

Low basketball IQ is part of the problem, players running to the corners and the passers passing it there is the problem. PJ is terrible at passing the ball, he should never take the ball out. They used to just throw it up to Richards but he’s never in the game enough for that.
