NO he’s un athletic will never be able to defend at this level. He can’t even hit his shots. Cal barking up wrong tree to give brad significant minute with scholarships left on the table.
I am glad Brad is on our team. I hate these open invitations for random "fans" to share their negative opinions of him.

Brad looks like Paul Blart in a UK uniform. Ummmmmmm No!! We are in really bad shape if Brad Calipari is playing. Compare him to someone like Hawkins, Hood , Floreal etc...who just got mop up minutes most of their career. He doesn't even belong in the same gym. If Brad keeps Cal around at least two more years, I say start Paul Blart.
Not at this level. Would totally love to have him prove me wrong but I don't expect it at all. Don't feel bad saying that because we don't all get the gifts to do well at this level. He's certainly a lot closer to having them than I ever was.
I think by his senior year realistically he could be 2/3 Jarrod Polson and that would be just freaking awesome.

That's my point!! Hawkins was good but got very limited minutes. Brad isn't even close to Hawkins and he got very little PT until his senior year.
Take Hawk out of that and you might be close. The Hawk had game. Not in ANY way comparable.
If you are at a game and watch Brad in warm ups he hardly misses. Me and my son saw him make 10 in a row, miss one and make another 10. But in the game when he shoots he doesn't come close. One player came to mind I think Josh Carrier, he never missed in warm ups but could never make them in a game.
I know people thought the same about Jarrod Polson and Cameron Mills at first but he'd have a long way to go to reach that level of contribution that we had from them during their Junior and Senior Seasons at UK. He'll never see meaningful minutes so long as Cal has a deep guard team. That's what UK is projected to have with Quickley, Johnson, Herro, Green and if SGA stays around. He'll only be in on a zone defense because of size/athleticism. Brad will need to prove he can make a shot during game time and be able to put the ball on the floor without immediately having to pass back the ball right back to whoever gave it to him. He is not a play maker nor should anyone expect to be.

Kid has way too much pressure to ever contribute in a game even if he were good enough which he's not. He's only on the team because he's Cal's son.
And I'm happy for both Dad and son they get to do this. Just leave them alone.

It's idiotic to compare Saul Smith and Brad Calipari. Brad will never get the playing time like Saul did for Tubby nor will Cal start him until Senior Day 2020. It's unfair to forecast his future when he has never played those significant minutes to prove otherwise.

At least Brad got out there and played tonight when called upon. No problem with it. Who else was there to go in? Vanderbilt isnt mentally ready (Cals words, not mine) so theres no way he could have gone out there for a whoppin 3 minutes or so instead of Brad.
Brad will never be a major player for Kentucky and I'm totally cool with him playing as much as he wants as long as it doesn't hurt the team. He's Cals kid, that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe he ends up a top coach in the game and he's a former player and alumni. You never know.

Hawkins got 7.1, 4.3, and 8.6 mpg before his SR year (19.2). Except for maybe his Soph yr, those weren't "very little PT" minutes.
Hawkins was strong, and could defend (that is why he played as a FR, on that team no one else wanted to defend). Brad can't guard anyone. He likely won't ever be able to. Him being on this team 1) ensures Cal is here this year and 2 more years, 2) gives Brad an opportunity to spend some time with his dad. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.
As for the fans wanting him to shoot last night, that was just plain stupid!!!! Sure go ahead and do that if you want when we are up by 20 in the final 2 minutes. But not in a tight game. We just needed him to buy us a couple of minutes and not hurt us during that time. If he got an OPEN look, I was ok w/ him shooting it, but nothing more.
Cal needs to fill the schollies with some decent players that can contribute. There are plenty out there.
I think the kid is handling the pressure of being Cal's kid at UK pretty well. I could not imagine the pressure or playing at Rupp let alone being the coaches kid, playing at rupp, in a close game, and being expected to at the very least to not get destroyed by the player i'm guarding/or be the weak link in the zone. and we have had plenty of unalthetic players that could shoot in the history of kentucky. like others have said he will start on his senior night, if he becomes a consistent lights out shooter all the better for us
For the life of me, I still can't see why he ever thought that tattoo was a good idea. I think it shows he feels a ton of pressure though.

Hawk was 10x the athlete and a gamer. No comparison. Bread seems like a good kid though.
Two people know for sure he will never be a major contributor for UK on the court. Brad and Coach Cal. Brad didn't walk on thinking he would make a living playing the sport professionally. But he may be able to make a living coaching if he wants to enter that profession. And why not learn the game at the best basketball program in America?

Brad seems like a good kid, never a problem, doesnt act like hes entitled to anything, and fits in well...but...I'm not sure he's even better than the other walkons. David and Pulliam seem way more athletic and sure of themselves. I just dont know. And I hated the Saul Smith situation....that was terrible..Tubby, it seemed to me, actually manufactured a situation(Hawk's "asthma"...)that got Saul significant minutes for a long time. It was ridiculous. But comparing the playets, imo Saul was way better overall than Brad at this point. The difference is Brad gets the occasional minutes and Tubby had Saul starting at times. Hell GG Smith was way better than Saul the year he played at UK.

Will or should Brad ever be a main rotation player at UK very doubtful, but I will say he helped us survive that first half without more issues. I do think he is a very serviceable emergency time guy, if he'd knocked that shot down or draw the charge he at least attempted to take views on his performance last night would be drastically different. Plus the whole keeping Cal here while he is here things is kinda a big deal.

40-0 with him . .. would have loved or JV to got those 5 min last night. It was like being caught in a bad time warp watching a struggling coaches son play . Brad got real minutes last night in a important conference game . Surreal.
