Most of us figured this team would have 7-9 losses. We now have 3. Knox and Diallo were both MIA last night. We had way too many turn overs, too many stupid fouls, and could not buy a basket the second half. These are all problems caused by too many freshmen having to learn the game..

Cal has to have top 5 players and he is not getting them

we have too many leaving early that should stay.

Cal needs to learn to stay inside the coaches box.

We have always had trouble winning at UT.

On to the next game

The chance of taking 5 freshmen starters into Knoxville and winning is very low. All one has to do is look at past history and see the great UK teams that have crashed and burned in that place. Poor Tennessee teams have beat us and poor Tennessee coaches have beat us.

If something strange is going to happen it will happen in Knoxville. Our players play with fear in their eyes and seem to want to just get out of there, take the L and forget about the game.

Last night was a game to forget.

I think is some type of Ray Mears jinx.

Don't panic, the twins are coming :D just had to do it.I think it is the Ray Mears jinx (see my post about midgets on unicycles from yesterday) Many pretty good UK teams went to Knoxville and couldn't win(the Runts for example) I hoped we would compete a little better, but like always several goofy things happened in this one, could see it coming a mile away.

I bet this loss earns us a win or two that we wouldn't have gotten had we won last night.
We got punked and if our guys have any burn in their belly at all, they will never let it happen again.

We can hope but that remains to be seen, just don't know if this bunch as a whole has it in them.

But we say that every year don't we? Every year in January we see these tough losses and we all say that same thing only to see UK rolling through the SEC and NCAAT.
But look around cbb right now, everyone is losing road games. Duke is supposed to be the title favorite, but they lost to BC and NCST, UT is > both of those duds.
I'm not saying it this year. I firmly believe that this team will be really good by tournament time. Hopefully we avoid Michigan State, but nobody else is some juggernaut that we won't be able to beat when at full strength.

Great post I agree this is a process of watching young kids grow up, hopefully every time they lose they learn look at Duke they are probably the most talented team in the country and they are losing games I like our group

You make a very valid point in terms of college basketball this season,I've said the same thing for a while now. This team is so young(in terms of actual chronological age) that the discipline and mental toughness necessary may not be there yet.Sometimes they are fun to watch sometimes they are hard to watch but watch we will.

Yea, i am not giving up nor bashing this team, yet. I knew going in it would be a frustrating year. Wait till first of March, then we will have a better idea of this team's mental makeup. And from what I see it is more mental with them as of now. With no senior leadership to depend on, it may take this team longer to figure it out.

I’m not surprised we lost, Tennessee is really good. I don’t know what the ceiling is for this team, but as of January 7th, I’m hoping we’re still playing the second weekend of the tournament.

So far the most difficult team in the Cal era to get a true sense of who or what they are.

I think one of the problems is that many of them don't already have that burn. Specifically, I would say Knox and Richards.

I think PJ does, maybe Diallo but he has other issues, Shai, and Gabriel.
