I think OP is talking about no zone at all against a KU team that went cold on the perimeter and made most of their points late in the paint....
I was wondering the same thing. I know it's definitely against Cals beliefs due to the NBA playing man-to-man but I was kind of wanting a win. Wish we had played Zone.

Most of those shots from outside that they missed were deep or rushed. Our perimeter defense wasn't bad. A zone would of given them more time to set their feet and I'm sure they would of shot better.

They already had 14 offensive boards to our 1 in the first half. And you guys want to go zone?

How about continuing to front their big when Kansas was just lobbing it over the top every time?

Or what seemed like 50 straight possessions of posting up Washington who then proceeds to act like the ball is on fire.

But hey, next possession, right back to Washington on the block.

I hope he was looking for PJ to wake the hell up and realize there was a basketball game going on.

Kid is lost at both ends right now.

I was yelling, stop fronting their big men. Jeez Louise. Richards has the length to play behind him.

He definitely is for sure. You can't be too cool for school. He just looked overwhelmed tonight. Had his head up his rear all night.

Cal should have called timeout when Richards and SKG turned it over three straight times. That basically cost the game.

Why would UK going zone decrease our offensive rebounds or increase theirs..... I'm not sure you understand the point of a 2/3 zone. Pack the paint, keep people our of the lane, get MORE boards....

Usually because there’s no assigned man to box out, but we weren’t boxing out and were casually going for rebounds and loose balls in the first half anyways, so it wouldn’t have made a huge difference.

You obviously do not understand a zone defense.

You are guarding space and not a body.

You have to find a body to block out. In man to man, you are already on that body.

Zone Defense 101

I guess my friend. But I'm just letting you know that NO ONE ever went man to man to INCREASE rebounding. That's half the reason you plan 2/3. Yeah, find a man and put a body on him. We weren't doing it in man to man in the first half. That said, a 2/3 would have let the white foreign dude get even more open looks than he already had.. If thats even possible. Maybe some type of box and one or T and 2.

You stick to that church league buddy.

I really expected to see some zone, but you can beat after those offensive rebounds in the 1st quarter no way any coach goes zone.
