He did not make the Pistons. He signed an affiliates contract, which means he will go to training camp with Detroit, then go to their G-League team.

Was it because Cal developed Derek or that he couldn't develop WG (yet))

Anyway, happy for DW. No one should be the least surprised he's getting a shot, even if it's a bit of a long shot
