Wow, that is surprising and great news. That kind of money is more than most make in a decade.

No clue on what he's getting but league minimum is $815k for 1 year. Congrats Derek.
He will have to make the 15 man roster to get that. I hope to hell he does, but there are a few different contracts that he could sign varying from a non-guaranteed training camp deal to a spot on the NBA roster. Just so glad he has an opportunity in front of him to pave his way into the league.

Most likely a training camp deal to then play G-league.

If he's lucky he'll get a 2-way contract.

Heck ya!!!

That's awesome.

Anyone know how much? Either way he's gonna make a truck load of $$ this year , that could pa e the way / set him up for life .

Especially if he can squeak out a couple more years in the league

He probably will not make a truckload of money this season.

Ya you're prolly correct .
For him it'll be a lot. Maybe "truck load" wasnt the correct adjective. He'll make pretty darn good money for a 22 year old fresh out of college

Sorry, but Briscoe could've stayed five more years and wouldn't have gotten an NBA contract. Just not quick enough. Not athletic enough. Can't shoot. JMO

Your prolly right , but I feel like if he came back for another year or 2 he could have worked on his jumper a lot and maybe at least get a 2nd round pick ... or fought his way to even a "low paying " (still great $$) contract - even if for only 1-2 years

Or by coming back I think he could have solidified himself to maybe a better , more relevant oversees team? Idk tho

And lastly ; Kentucky fans love their Kentucky players. If he had finished his 4 years (even 3) he would be kinda loved from the Lexington public Imo - could have made a real name for himself , made connections in Lexington etc ... and possibly gotten a few cool/ good job offers. Or even work his way to a staff assistant of sorts

I always kind of thought Willis would follow in Darius Miller's foot steps.

Didn't quite happen that way but close.

Still, I'm surprised by this. I figured he'd make a killing over seas. Probably still will.

He improved a ton down the stretch of the season. Started rebounding better. Stopped hesitating to shoot it. Started blocking shots and defending better. I'm glad for him.

So.... I guess Coach Cal can't develop players ?
This has nothing to do with Calipari.

He would have made the NBA even if he'd have picked Purdue, where he was originally leaning.

Cal just rolls the balls out....

.....Who am I kidding? This has EVERYTHING to do with Cal.

[laughing] Congratulations young man. Stay off the firewater and give em hell.
