Buddy Heild sucks and kept wanting to run point and get his shots....lost the game for them IMO. Fox was a man amongst boys tonight.

Lonzo who?
I was getting ready to put a thread up about this. There is no way this kid is a starting SG, he will bring Fox and the Kings down if he is anything more than a role player.

Fox set him up perfect for 2 threes late and he missed em, plus as stated above he started trying to play PG at the end of the game.

Yes summer league isnt everything. But its something. Especially when your number 2 overall looks like the overrated pile of trash that everyone knew he was.

Lonzo Ball's game is setting other guys up. The Lakers have done him no favors gutting their roster.

He is going to have a hard time looking competent this year, unless he and Lopez get that P&R going.

Worst thing about Lonzo last night were the clanked threes. Honestly, he looked kind of nervous.

Fox is perfect for these kind of games because he can create his own offense. Think he also came up with 4 steals.

But I think my favorite part last night was when they moved Mason to point and played Fox off ball. They ran a little action to get Fox the ball in space in the middle of the floor, and he was drilling midrange jumpers.

Remains to be seen on Ball. May turn out to be a stud, but I haven't seen what made him the #2 pick in the draft.
Fox has speed that you can't teach. We shall see I reckon.

Wait, I thought it was just that bad training staff at UK that was the problem? :joy:

Looked to me like he might have strained a groin muscle early in the game...didn't seem to bother him as he actually got better as the game went on. He's probably not going to be the starting PG anyway so I wouldn't be too worried. They didn't pay George Hill all that money to sit on the bench behind a rookie.

But boy was that fun to watch. Actual basketball being played by both teams. UK guys showing out. Devin Booker on the sidelines and in the interview pumping UK. Doesn't get much better in July.

Ball won't be a bad NBA player but not worth a top 10 pick .Hell not worth a top 20 pick . Fox will be a top 10 pg in 3 years . Kinda like how it took Wall about 3-4 years to really be an elite NBA player. Now he is a top 12 player or so in the league.

Lakers aren't looking at this upcoming year. It's smart to gut their roster and get rid of those atrocious contracts that some of those guys had. They're looking for 2018 and getting a couple star FAs. They'll be in line to offer max deals to 2 studs. If they get 2 stars to go with Ingram, who looked like a completely different player, and Lopez, they'll be right back at the top of the NBA and that's the type of team that suits Lonzo's game. Ingram has star potential as well. As he puts on weight and gets Walton's coaching, he's going to be a stud. Walton has already worked a lot of kinks out with Ingram. He looked really good last night.

They could care less about this year and in fact, Id argue that they'd like to do as bad as possible to get another top draft pick. It's all about the future with the Lakers now and freeing up cap space. The Mozgov deal and the Deng deal were 2 of the worse in the league.

Depends on who is surrounding Ball. He's not a creating scoring PG, like Wall and Fox. They're completely different style players. But if the Lakers add 2 studs after this year, along with Ingram and possibly another top draft pick after year, Ball can be a damn good PG.

Although, if he doesn't get better on D, he may not even be around to see it. Man, he was pretty bad last night.

Hill and Hield will be the starting back court this year. They just paid Hill and their owner is in love with buddy and thinks he's the next Steph Curry.

You wouldn't have a very good argument, since either the Sixers or Celtics have the Laker's pick next year.

I am well aware of what they are trying to do, but I think they jumped the gun on dumping Russell, with no big acquisition pending.

I know a couple of other teams passed on Fox but Boston had a real opportunity. They are going to look silly here in about a year or two when Fox is on his way to being at least John Wall caliber if not better.

Celts could have drafted Fox and traded for Paul George in addition to adding Gordon Heyward. That's an elite scoring and shooting back court/perimeter for the next 6 years or until PG and GH start losing a step. On top of the foundation of those three, boston shedding whatever they're going to have to pay Thomas and having that money available would have made them an attractive free agency destination.

I wasn't sure on the exacts of their 2018 pick but even without it, it's still a pretty good argument.

My only hesitation is on Russell. I never said getting rid of Russell was smart. That's yet to be determined. I was talking about gutting those contracts that they need off their books. I agree that they may have jumped the gun in trading Russell but then again, he may not turn out to be that great. Lopez is a really good player. Allowing them to dump the Mozgov deal was worth it to them if they could replace Russell, which they did.

Was it the right move? Eh, only time will tell like all trades. I think it may be in the long term but then again, they may have been able to dump Mozgov after this year when there is only 2 years left on his contract and still had Russell and this year's pick. It's definitely a ballsy and risky move with no pending acquisitions like you said. I was simply pointing out the thinking behind it.

Kings are a disaster. Noticed last night also that Fox set up Skal perfect for open jump shots, but he would hesitate and do something unnecessary that allowed for him to be challenged.

Love our guys go in the lottery, but sucks having to watch them be on horrible teams year in and year out.

TWolves could make a jump in the future.

Wizards could be an eastern finals team.

NO just gave freaking Holiday 150million

God help our kids lol
