That video will become the new Yahtzee thing, except this will be better because it will most likely mean a 5-star player is going to play basketball at UK and not a 1-star football athlete from Kathmandu.
No need to disparage the good work Stoops & company are putting in...what they're doing on the recruiting front in football is about as historical as what Cal's doing on the basketball front. Maybe more so. Ive seen outstanding recruiting before in hoops but never (maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention) in football. Some of you football folk feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember a time when the football team enjoyed the quality depth that they'll have over the next couple of years.

The football staff are doing a great job and there has never been this much optimism about an upcoming season.

1 star or 5 star as long as the players have a uniform that has Kentucky on it I'll cheer for them.

I laughed, and I like UK football. It is what it is. Agree we've upped our game in football recruiting considerably, but we can't keep Alabama from swooping in and stealing the best of the best.

Duh. That's like taking a 16 year old Anthony Davis and saying "well, he can't play in the NBA right NOW." Of course not. But he's laying down the groundwork to be very very good. No one is dethroning Alabama while Saban is there. Doesn't matter if they don't win the title, no one is dethroning what Saban is doing until he retires.
Its funny how you all think I am a hater or classless fan because I dogged the media for saying Yahtzee every time. I'm pretty sure Stoops doesn't even say it anymore. I love that the football team is on the rise and have no problem with stoops or the players. I was making fun of the media for saying it about the low ranked players that nobody (including local media) have no idea about. It was cute the first 100 times everyone said it now its old and bland.
Name the last 1 star player the Stoops staff has recruited. Or maybe you are confusing the 1 star with the number one ranked athlete they signed out of Ohio last year!? GO CATS!!!

Had a Bama offer, among many others, and recomitted to UK and shut down his recruitment.
Do you live under a rock? Stoops and the rest of the staff have secured top 30 classes the past 3 years, and we are currently in the top 20 for 2018. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Best of the best? He would have been a backup at Alabama. What about the running back from Richmond? Look, I hope UK breaks through with a 10-win season. Stoops deserves it with all the sweat he's put into recruiting. But basketball and football recruiting are apples and oranges. We vilified Tubby for getting a similar level of talent that Stoops is getting.

I just realized why I don't like coming to Rupp Rafters. The arrogance and ignorance of the average poster here ,is disgusting. Yes ,we have a great bb program,and done it at the expense over the last 60 years of a competitive SEC football program! And until recently , our athletic program consisted of bb and nothing else! People that never travel in SEC country, which is mostly bb only fans, have no idea how foolish they are regarded!
You maybe get 1 to 2 freshman per recruiting class to come in and start right away, if that, depending on the state of your program. The majority redshirt so calling Jarren a "backup" at Alabama is an awful take. Jarren will be a 4 star in the updated rankings who had offers from everyone in the SEC, including home school UGA. Stoops has completely rebuilt the program from a marginal FCS team at best when he started, to now a contender in the SEC East.
I'm head of the march against some of the basketball only, fairweather types BUT . . . I think TyCat meant that to come out a little different than what the way he presented it. I think his point was to that he thinks they over-use Yahtzee on the football side and should just save it for the bigger gets and that basketball doesn't have to worry about that because all of their are big gets. Or something like that . . . . . . . . after second thought - KILL HIM!
Listen I am a Canes football fan first but I am not sure why people are attacking this poster as this is spot on. Stoops ( from the outside looking in) has really raised the level of UK recruiting but it is not like UK is recruiting with the big boys yet either . They usually end up with classes between 25-40 . A huge improvement but not Bama, FSU ect Like he said apples to oranges.
Because its not spot on. Stoops in 4 years has had to completely overhaul the mess that Joker left us. We could hardly beat out MAC teams for 2 stars to now going up into Michigan, which is completely new territory for us, and taking their #1 ranked player, battling with OSU for the #29 ranked player in the nation, and securing a recommit from the hottest commodity quarterback in the southeast who held offers from everyone. So saying we're not recruiting with the big boys is false.
The belittling of Stoops and the disparaging comments against the football team on this board are ridiculous and awful takes.

I prefer big time sports, College BB is JV sports and 3 week experience. I have loved UK BB for 45 years but college BB is akin to gymnastics or baseball at some places. College FB is the only big boy sport. Sorry you UK BB only fans. Glad Stoops is doing great, he is recruiting to a level or sustained level that we have never done since Bear Bryant.
That's the point of where UKs resources were spent over the last 60 years. As a point of reference,how good are any of these football powerhouses basketball programs? Not very! Why, because they concentrate on football. Just follow the money,normally where you invest ,you get you're best returns. In the SEC , it's football,just be glad some of these schools don't get serious about basketball!

Of course we don't have any 1-star players, I don't think they even rank players that low. (Could be wrong) but next time you and everyone else whose panties are in a wad over a comment making fun of the media (like KSR) (not UK football team directly) then maybe you should read it again and take it from another point of you. It sounded pretty sincere to me. But I apologize if you did mean that way. My reasoning is the football team is coming along great under stoops. And another thing I despise is basketball only fans, if you are then you really aren't a uk fan. That goes for football only fans too.
I don't think there is a problem with anyone who is a basketball only or football only fan. I cheer for and knowledgeable about both, but some people don't like basketball but love football and vise versa. I think it's good to think about things before judging.
Barely beat out MAC schools for 2 stars? You don't have to lie to enhance your point. We can still see the commitment lists from thos years and its not chock full of 2 stars. In fact, its about the same level of recruits UK was pulling in 2007-2009 that Joker inherited.
