I suspect this means that Diallo is gone, but I never, ever saw this coming, so who knows. Honestly, I'm stunned.

This has to absolutely KILL UNC and Duke fans. UNC loses Jackson, Duke loses Tatum, they have no one else like him on their rosters, and UK signed Vanderbilt AND Washington. And UK gets him anyway.

Maybe Cal was serious about playing five 6'9" guys at a time, With a 6'6" potential PG, and guys with as much versatility as Knox, Vanderbilt, and Washington, it could be really close.

Edit: I didn't know one of our guards was anywhere close to 6'6. I see here is listed on here at 6'5. My bad.

Vanderbilt is a taller Diallo essentially, better passer but a tad behind as a finisher

This is the one time I wouldn't fault anyone who said he wasn't coming to UK (including me). This was a shock to everyone not named Cal.
I still kinda think Bam was a bigger surprise....yes the day before it leaked it was UK but the months before hand everybody in the recruiting industry and on the board swore it was NC State and we were majorly wasting our time. But regardless it's freaking awesome we went from no elite SF's since 2012 to 3 in one class: Washington, Vanderbilt, Knox.

Knox isn't a 2. Can lt guard it or play it on O vs a sg. He's more of a transitioning 4 ala PJ. He will play some 3 and stretch 4

Actually forgot about that one. I was just as shocked with that one as well

BRING IT

If Diallo returns and they add Bamba...

Would be Cal's signature recruiting class with 9 top 65 guys, 8 top 32 guys, and 7 top 25 guys.

I'd settle for Diallo returning at this point. Would love have a wing collection in Diallo, Knox, and Vanderbilt.

If you think about, Duke made a lot of sense from Day 1 and he fought it. I had always felt the Knox just wasn't really feeling Duke - I think the Duke stuff was all his Dad.

Another side benefit of this. Surely this has to help Bamba's decision easier. A chance to play with a bunch of his friends and fellow freshmen and compete for a championship on one of the youngest, most talented teams ever,

There's a difference between stating something in a prediction versus stating something as a fact. Sure most people, including myself, pretty much agreed with the "experts" and "predicted" he would choose elsewhere. Some on here were being difficult about it and stating it as a fact. "He is picking Duke and there's no arguing otherwise..." etc. .

I love that this crushes Duke's chances. Might make Frank Jackson come back though.

I'm also hoping it helps Diallo return. Diallo could go now, get an early second round selection, or return to a weak draft next summer, gain a spot as a top 20 selection, and play with a UK team that features multiple friends and a real shot at a Final Four.

Incredible.

Didn't see this one coming AT ALL.

Biggest upset Cal pulled off as a recruiter while at UK? I think so.

This was an amazing recruiting accomplishment. If we land Bamba that will be the final missing piece. But, if not, I still see a major weakness in the middle.

Duke failing to take Knox pretty much takes them out of the running next year. Same for UNC. Duke would have to pull their own recruiting upset and land Bamba to have a real shot next year, and that looks highly unlikely at this point.
