Pump the brakes people, didn't Cal have every player on the team declare for the draft last year. Dialogue would be crazy not to put his name in so he can at least work out and get feedback on what he needs to work on. If he is good enough to get drafted first round then so be it. He didn't use or hurt UK in any way. He probably helped challenged Monk or Briscoe in practices to make them better.

You would think since "cal had to know" ... he would be going full force on some guards.
Please, come up with something new. I'm a fan of all things University of Kentucky. I've lived my entire life in Kentucky ( all three of the largest urban/suburban areas in this state). I went to UK and have a degree from UK. I'm a season ticket holder for UK sports and have traveled all over the country to watch them play. Your calling people trolls is weak as ****. You are a loser.
At least we can look forward to Scott Charlton getting all preachy on Twitter about how Diallo deserves our undying love and support for gracing us with his presence for half a semester. That guy is unbearable when it comes to stuff like this. I think Skal is his favorite player of all-time.
If he wants to go, then who am I to complain. It's his life. But, where I get foggy is; why didn't he play this past season? I could understand if he thought that it might take him a couple of years. But, if he was already planning on entering the draft, it seems like he would have at least tried to play some this past season.
I've wondered that too. I mean you had guys like Chuck Hayes and Nazr Mohammed playing forever. Heck, even Vince Carter played this year. I guess the D League is taking in a lot of them.

1. He always intended to test the waters.
2. If he gets a solid first round guarantee, he will take it. That was also always the case.
3. If he gets second round feedback, I suspect he returns. Again, always the plan, imo.
I would scratch my head a bit if he stays in the draft to get picked 53rd. Other than that, I don't think any of this is the slightest bit surprising.
He was considered a second rounder at best before he came to UK. So what are people mad about? If practicing with UK improved him enough to make a few million dollars, should that upset us?
Would we have rather he stayed in high school and maybe went somewhere else next fall?
Would we have rather he went to UCONN?
Or is it just that we didn't disrupt one of the hottest teams in the country by injecting a new player in the lineup in February?

Love Cal, love being a contender usually but not winning more than one title despite the talent we've had then losing our roster nearly every year? That is frustrating.
Since Cal has been here, Duke and UConn have both won two titles with talent that was not even close to the talent we've had.
because he didnt want too. if he wanted to play...he would have went to uconn who would have started him. he and his folks are smart enough to know that playing 1/2 a season would have dont nothing by killed his draft stock because its coming into the season at the hardest possible time.

Think this was the plan all along for Diallo. Doubt very seriously he stays in the draft. From every projection I have seen he will not be taken in the first round.

Everyone agrees Cal should have two titles here. The difference is that our world doesn't revolve around that. He has UK in the hunt almost every year and the odds improve significantly of winning more tiltes that way.

Do you agree there are more football players than basketball? Run the numbers. There are a lot more scholarships/ players playing football than basketball (not to mention the whole NFL collective bargaining rule of 3 years out of high school hence players want that clock running ASAP)..

Cal recruited the #1 SG.
#1 SG committed and enrolled early. We had a free ride. We needed experience next year. All good if he stays.
Player appeared to state publicly he was coming back multiple times.
Player and HS coach both stated he wasnt even ready for college ball yet.
Cal surely expected his return next year as highly probable and most likely wasnt surprised by his testing the NBA waters.
Kid may have changed his mind and decide to leave, but why is it Cal's fault?
Diallo did not prevent any other stud SG's from coming if you look at the commitment dates of the few good guards in this class.

Here is one of the quotes where Cal spoke on Diallo playing next year for Kentucky. They were basically over the course of a month of press conferences, so they're kind of split up. I remember Cal's comments to Diallo being more widespread through secondary circles. Maybe it was all BS and Cal brought him in with the understanding that Diallo might go anyway (at which point I was and am wrong for believing the rhetoric). I'm not sure that would be a beneficial twist for Cal in this saga, however, if he brought Hami in with an understanding that he was probably never going to suit up for Kentucky. Again, if I've misrepresented the actualities, I am in the wrong.

Diallo WILL NOT leave.....But honestly we should have went all in on and gotten one of, if not both of Collin Sexton and Lonnie Walker instead. And made Young a top priority. Imagine this.....

As good as he is and with the climate today, Cal should not spend much time on any players that will be eligible for the draft. He knew that in the summer.
