Bamba gave another clue tonight as to what he is waiting for and he mentioned to about what players will be coming back and who won't, well, the one team he's looking at I can see this affecting is us. My question to you would you rather have bam or bamba? Obviously we want both but if you had to chose one who are you rolling with? I really like bamba, but give me a sophomore bam all day. We know what he can bring and he won't have to play the five by himself next yr, he will actually have some help. Who do you chose and why?

Very easy choice for me. Bam all day. We know what we are getting in his game and I expect another year with Cal along with a supporting cast will reap dividends for us, and his future at the next level.

It's a tough choice because nobody knows how Richards shot blocking will translate to the college game. If he can block shots at a decent rate we would be better off with Bam I believe.

But if his games doesn't translate well to college I think we would need Bamba more than Bam. In the perfect world we get Bam back and get Bamba too.
If I had to choose I would take a sophomore Bam and have Bamba go to Texas

I'd take a SO Bam over a FR Bamba. As a FR, both were ranked somewhat similar on average. Bam will have had another year to mature.

Plus, this Kentucky team lacks experience in a HUGE way.

If you were Coach Cal and Bamba were already in the bag, you would want him to wait to announce his commitment until after Bam makes his decision. That way, opposing coaches wouldn't be able to say that Cal recruits over late first round five stars and forces them out when they aren't ready.

Bamba all day without a second thought. Bam is not going to dominate next season. guards aren't scared of him, he's not a great rebounder, he's got shaky hands, limited offensive game, not a shot blocker etc (not to mention 6'8) He's strong and can defend multiple positions decently. That's about all he does well. He'd get better, but I don't see a huge transformation.

Bamba is the typical Calipari big. Better defender than Bam, better shot blocker, will be better for penetration and lobs, and guards are totally intimidated. He's a stud.

Anyone that would rather have Bam over Bamba will re-think that next season. Especially if Duke lands Bamba AND Carter together. Bam against Bamba and Carter in the elite 8? Pfffffff please. It's an easy choice. I like Bam and he'll be a decent player, but he's not one of the better bigs we've had.

Also, Bam is borderline first round. The NBA is Leary too. The board is way too high on him.

Any of you saying bamba over bam please keep your hands raised when you complain about 1 and done with cal. Keeping a player like bam for a second year is bigger than any returner we have had since Cal arrived. Most of you say I can't wait until so and so leaves and 5 minutes later you are hating cal for recruiting 1&d players...now we actually have people wishing a top 20 player out after 1 year for a 5 star player. Effing lol

This is a straw man. We need players to return, but each case is different. Bam < Bamba and it means more than just that. Again, he's probably going to Duke if he doesn't come here. They've already got Carter.

That would give Duke TWO top 5 bigs and they're trees. Why didn't we beat UNC aside from the anecdotal complaints? Because Bam was ineffective in the trees.

Our best teams under Cal always have a very good rim protector. Unfortunately Bam isn't, but Bamba is. I'd love to have both of them with Bam playing the 4, but how would that go over with Washington and Gabriel? It wouldn't leave much playing time for either of them. If I had to choose one than I would go with Bamba. We haven't had a really good defensive 5 man for a couple years and are about due.

Until the hoop summit I would have said Bam. He is crazy strong and will be improved as a sophomore. But honestly, now I'm leaning to preferring Bamba. And no, I'm not basing my preference on his "performance" in one all-star game. Just watching him in a game setting rather than on a highlight reel made me realize what he's capable of. His arms cover SO much space. He will alter every single shot that goes up in the paint and cause a ton of guys to shoot long jumpers instead of driving. There's no stat for that. I just really think he will have a major impact next year in ways that Bam just can't.

But both would be pretty awesome.

I f BAM stays and plays his natural place on the bb court - PF- and Bamba playing center - Look the hell out - along with Richards damn that a front court of block city
