I'm good with Chumps hating me but I don't get it it. I was the only person that would speak to him on the South Carolina roadie many years ago. I guess he got tired of me joking about his Reds on Twitter. Which was about 4 times before I was blocked.

Isaac Humphries can go play overseas and make 6 figures. At nineteen years old. There's nothing comical about him turning pro at all.

What's comical is guys who are talented enough to take that path, but refuse to swallow their pride and move to Europe. Instead they stay home, keep it real, and waste their prime years squandering away their talent in the stupid D League.

Seriously, 20 years from now he'll likely be in a much better place than most undrafted early entrants. Just a hunch.

Unless he thinks can develop into a first round pick, he's stupid to not look at his pro options now.

* All I have to do is look at PTI (pti)'s Phil/Tiger Majors bet with you idiots to know he is smarter than you. But when he adds in smart NBA early entry commentary like today, he erases all doubt.

* 2 game winning streak for your 1st place Cincinnati Reds.

* Touch this weather. And touch you. No, not you, I like you. I was talking to him.

I mean there are still (many) compelling reasons for Isaac F'n Humphries to remain at UK.

Like what?

I can list some too, but if he plays his cards right it's a smart move.

Start making six figures, continue working on your degree, save and invest wisely....

....if this were a computer geek who took a senior programmer job with Google while finishing up his bachelors online, he'd be celebrated.

If Humphries was going to go "pro" early (pro used loosely, as I'm sure it will be to a ****** Euro or Middle Eastern league), he should've done it straight out of high school. He's wasted two years embarrassing himself by playing at Kentucky. Not to mention he hasn't improved at all.

Really wasted his time here, and ours.

Free American college education (still valued by non-Americans), free coaching, professional training, lodging, etc., national TV exposure to potentially procure a professional career in the NBA and not the Turkish league.

Not a bad deal and some might call it worthy of your time even in the face of low six figures overseas.

A senior software engineer at Google has a base salary of $162,000.00 a year. He will also be able to do that job until he's 65 or so, most likely moving up significantly over the years in position and salary. Humphries most likely won't be playing professional basketball on any level in 5 to 10 years. And there's a decent chance he never makes $150,000.00 a year.

It's also cute that you think these guys who are leaving early are going to get their degrees, save, and invest wisely. lol. Maybe 1 in 20 will do that.

There is value in playing basketball for four years at Kentucky. Plenty of guys have been milking BBN's big tit for decades. Good luck doing that when you were a forgettable 9th man for two forgettable years. I'm sure it's hard to turn down an $85,000.00 salary from the Saudi Arabian Dust Ferrets, but the better retirement package involves lounge singing for Kentucky fans, not driving a taxi in Riyadh.

When Hump was playing out of his mind during that stretch I kept thinking.. My goodness, the Aussie Honk will be crushing all kinds of smoke for the indefinite future.

I hear the professional training for the Mahindra Enforcers crushes Kentucky's coaching staff.

How much longer before PTI(pti) blasts 4*+ HS seniors for accepting scholarships?

Hump will play Pro ball for a long time. Some of you are basketball idiots.

Chase (and tons more of you) also said Skal wouldn't play a meaningful MINUTE in the NBA. [laughing] Get back to me when he signs his first real contract in 2 years.

Love the final conclusions some of you draw with 18 year old 7 footers. :fire:

His career isn't going to be over because he's old. His career is going to be over because he sucks. He will be very lucky to hang around any league for 5 years. Probably best to have something to fall back on, like BBN's tit, rather than absolutely nothing.

And :joy: at insisting that traveling the back roads of Kentucky for the next 30 years doing $5 autograph sessions at Hardee's is some sort of glamorous lifestyle.

Do you honestly think Humphries is going to stick around here for 2 more years just so he can possibly turn into some sort of legendary Kentucky basketball cult hero? :joy:

Okay bub. He gave it a run and just isn't a future NBA player. If he sticks around he can take that path and milk it for all it's worth. But going pro and making as much money as possible while he's still young enough to do so is just as smart of a decision.

Humphries is considering leaving Kentucky to play professional basketball in his home country, presumably. Not in the Middle East or BFE. He has played very few minutes here, and I'm sure he wonders if he is going to get much more playing time with the freshman big men coming in. I don't think he was aspiring to become the next Lukasz Obrzut when he accepted his scholarship.

Leaving after two years may or may not be a mistake, but to act like it's insane for him to consider a professional career in Australia is silly.

Even if he makes 85k he's making double what a normal college grad does. You all have a hard time understanding these guys have a limited amount of time to earn money playing basketball and in most cases they're best going.

Humphries I agree could benefit from coming back OR Bam could come back and Bamba join moving Hump to like 4th big man on the roster.

And actually more of these guys come back to finish than you realize. Lot of the late 90s guys just finished up so they could become coaches etc.

People are butthurt that humphries is possibly leaving enough to post multiple times over it?

I was done with that mfer a long time ago. Hell, he was semi-pro before coming here. He's an idiot, tbh. I assume he figured "hey I'll go play for JVC one year and go lottery like everybody else, mate". Then he came, realized he sucked, had to go to class, deal with redneck KY, so now he'll go play ball for money like he should have in the first place.

And how many guys actually live off just playing at UK? A few notable exceptions, but the list pretty much includes affable con artist types who were also quite good.

Your Brandon Stockton types aren't walking into Palumbo's lumberyard and getting a no show $85k/year job like some of you think.

The Australian National Basketball League has a 1.1 million dollar salary cap for 11 players, and any 5 of a teams players cannot be paid more than $400,000.00. I'm sure he'll be crushing life there. [laughing]

Great decision. Should've skipped college all together and stayed there.

The earning a college degree thing is so stupid that it's actually hard to even argue with some of you, by the way. There are plenty of players who stay four years and don't earn theirs, and plenty of guys who leave early and do. Oh, and it's 100% free either way.

Add in the availability of online learning.....I mean, it's 2017 you morons. You can get a PHD from outer space, given a wifi signal. Stay or go is irrelevant. If you want a degree you can get it.

humphries only turned 19 in january. active, good hands/feet, body still developing. not going to get enough minutes here to showcase himself

aaron gray must have played damn near 500 nba games, and he was absolutely worthless at the same age. humphries is smaller but unlike gray he projects as being able to catch & shoot and play dribble handoff out of the elbow

Salary for a 3rd year backup center in the SEC: $0.

All 13 players may earn no more than $0. Salary cap is $0. Signing bonuses, shoe contracts, endorsements, and tv and radio money is capped at $0.

Of course you said it now. Didn't see a word of it from anyone before.

One good year and he's set for life.

Gumbys Car Wash, Tire, Lube, Spa and Tanning Salon in Beaver **** will easily pay him upwards of $600 to stage a promotional free throw shooting contest in their parking lot against local middle schoolers. Stick around afterwards for the pie eating contest and dunking booth, and the cash will just continue to flow from there!

Want players that stick around 4 years... go follow UL. If you're not paying attention that's not what we do anymore.
