I refuse to acknowledge a fake champ

these kids didn't cheat. so they are the champs. but they didn't get the field's best shot. they got a favorable whistle in a game they had no business winning. this won't be remembered as a great champion by any stretch. being the ugliest game ever didn't help it. but gonzaga, south carolina, oregon, north carolina is just not a memorable ff. it was a busted bracket and a chitty finale.

really they will feel cheated someday when they see evidence that the ncaa helped them play for a title when they should have been on probation. i believe that.

Meanwhile, while we were bitching about a game where the refs made a couple of bad calls against us in the first half and a couple against them in the second, Roy and UNC manned up and brought home another championship.

Yeah, my problem isn't with the current players for UNC but with the NCAA and the university. Most of the kids seem alright.

If I were any college I would take on the win at all cost mentality. How can they persecute anyone now. They have set a precedent. If any injunction were handed down to any school you just point the finger back at blatant cheating and say what's good for the goose is good for the gander

Don't be whiners guys. This is the stuff that winds up on deadspin. They won, with or without the refs. 50 years from now, All Wikipedia will say is that they won.

It's over. Live to fight another day.

NCAA$$$$ is waiting until people forget about the cheating then will penalize UNC by taking one scholarship. Wipe their hands and say nothing to see here folks

2017, the year of the "Cheaters". First the Patriots, now the Tarholes. Kind of makes me a little sick to be a sports fan today. The kids on this team may not have cheated but that isn't the point, since when has that ever been the point with the NCAA.

Almost 2 decades of rampant academic fraud at UNC. Hey UNC fans, UK has cheated in the past and we're not on a high horse about it. They've paid for their transgressions, when are you gonna pay for yours? Never, most likely.

Today's lesson, time to learn to be better cheaters. That's what I take away from the sports year so far. I look forward to the Chicago Black Sox winning this year's World Series and maybe SMU winning next year's NCAA football national championship.

Did that sound bitter?

I believe both issues are part of the point. And the two are likely more linked than most even want to consider.

Actually without the refs they lost 3 times in this tournament: Arkansas, Kentucky and Oregon. They went 3-3 but were gifted a banner they didn't earn.

Please keep me in your thoughts. I live and work in N Carolina, so today will be pure angst for me to put up with these ********. But, I have my UK flag a-flyin!!!

As much as I HATE UNC, and I have to see UNC fans EVERY Day (my office is 15 minutes from UNC's campus), this team got no benefits from UNC's past cheating. 05 certainly did, that team had taken nearly 40 no-show classes; the 09 team probably did too (I'm not certain on that one). But this team earned it, well with the assistance in the 3 games prior to the title game by the stripes.

this is a sad day in college basketball. I mean they have made teams vacate wins for less...I mean memphis got punished for something the NCAA could not even prove rose actually didn't take his SAT (we all know he didn't) but still they just said well we can't prove it but screw you...vacate the season. yet UNC there is legit PROOF that some athletes could barely read, and PROOF that there is long standing fake classes and the NCAA is like: nah it's all good...here's another title

Johnathan you too are completely missing the damn point. While these kids may or may not have been part of the cheating, they did decide to go to a school that is known for cheating. This school should not have been participating in the tournament therefore these kids should not have won anything.
