Bolden transferring from Duke.

Bolden, Obi (who doesn't play anyway), Jeter, Giles, Jefferson are all gone. They are brining in Carter who is a 4. They have no 5 man.

I guess they have a 7 footer Vrankovic and a kid who is 6'10 Javin DeLaurier. So the cupboard isn't exactly bare.

Watch out. Duke will get Bamba, Knox and Duval with Carter and Trent and have best recruiting class ever.

Could well be. I sure don't like the timing. They're at the very least clearing space for him.

If Bamba sets and announcement date in the next few days, then it's definitely a bad sign.
Could be because TCU just won the NIT. Under Dixon TCU has shown dramatic improvement and Mama probably thinks his son could walk right in and be a starter for an up and coming program.

:joy: Yeah Carter is a 4.

That is the exact BS that got Bolden to Duke in the first place. Carter is a college 5, and an NBA 5 at this point in time. And he's especially a 5 at Duke where if you idiots ever paid any attention, K ALWAYS plays a wing at the 4.

Jesus Christ, I preached all last year Tatum would be a 4 and Bolden would never see the court.

Exactly, Carter the 5, Knox the stretch 4, Trent at the 3 unless Kennard is dumb enough to come back, Allen, Jackson at the guard positions unless they get Duval. DeLaurier, O'Connell, Vrank. That will be the lineup and they'll be fine. Really hoping Duval screws them and goes elsewhere - that will really have them scrambling.

My only concern would if we get Bamba, and with Ayton at Zona, Duke might be well positioned to go after Bagley if he reclassifies.

Any chance we go after him?
May be wrong but thought I heard Calipari say he will not pursue a guy after he says no to him once. Thought I read it somewhere in a article or from himself when he was hired but haven't seen anything on this since. Wouldn't want Bolden's baggage anyways with his Mom involved.

Especially after all of the drama with his recruitment.

If I was Bamba I would be more than a little leery of what has been going on in the Duke program in regards to big men under Coach K. Hope he thinks hard about this and makes the decision that is in his best interest. Hope he also notices, again, all the success that former UK big men under Coach Cal are having at the next level and how high they were picked in the draft. There is a big difference between the two programs.

Carter would be their center. I wouldn't love for him to transfer to uk just to show that cal can make him a great player despite puke. I don't think it has any bearing on what bamba wil do as I think we still get him

What baggage? I suppose I've missed any drama that happened in that situation.

What was the drama? I remember there being something but it's been a hot minute. Someone said it involved his mother?
How he dragged out his recruitment like it was a soap opera.

(1) Bamba was starting day 1 over Bolden or Jeter and he knew that so these transfers don't effect his recruitment.
(2) Anybody that has watched Duke play the last 5 years knows that K has adopted a new offensive system where he plays 1 in and 4 out. Wendall Carter is that one inside and because K has totally shifted to an offense first philosophy Carter would start and play over Bamba. Sure he would try and play Carter and Bamba together to start the season but I guarantee you after they lost a couple games he would go back to his comfort zone regular system of playing one true big and an undersized four who can shot 3's.
(3) The transfers of: Thorton, Bolden, and Jeter are stating to accumulate and it's not a good look. All three of those guys were consensus top 25 5* who were not developed at all. Duke is starting to get a bad reputation in the recruiting world and it will be fascinating to see how it plays out.

First I've heard of this. Is it a real possibility?

Even if true, you take Bamba and dont look back. No way you say no to Bamba in the hopes that Bagley reclassifies. I know you didn't insinuate that at all, just sayin.

After the dumpster fire of their season, three "lottery picks" being turned into a benchwarming transfer out, a projected No. 1 pick who is barely hanging on as a first rounder, and a third guy who came off as a selfish **** who was a team cancer for most of the season - if they pull that off, I seriously give up.

And I also don't care, because it would be dumpster fire Part 2. They'll be overhyped and overrated again.

This smells like Duke to me. I have feared this was coming since his last visit to Duke with his mom. She loved it like Boldens mom did last year. I believe Dukes class is going to be huge. They are cleaning out the closet to make room for some the last remaining supers. Duval, Knox and Bamba quite possibly join Carter and Trent junior. Great team regardless of what Allen and Kennard do. I hope I'm wrong but those are stud athletes with great shooters returning. They will have little to no depth but that 5 -6 players will be the best in college if it all comes down. Hopefully Bamba doesn't drink the cool aid and hopefully Knox goes to Fla. state f he doesn't come to UK. K is up to something for sure because he would never allow this many to leave wholesale like this.

K provides results to the university but dog gone if I was a recruit and didn't take a long look at the success of duke players in the nba.... geez, it has to be some sort of factor...

Cal will provide. But I gotta say I like the idea of bringing him in.

One, we'd havea three year player who would have practiced in this system for a year in 18-19.

Two, I'd like to take a Dukie and turn him into a lottery pick.

Yes, I hear it now; Yeah Cal, Momma Bolden here...do you have any...click....dial tone. (Momma Bolden to the press; well, Cal is thinking it over...)
Remember that song from the 70's? "Hello, it's me again........", I believe by ELO.

Now I'm worried about Bamba.
I still think that the timing is related to TCU's NIT win. Had he contacted Dixon during the tournament he probably would not have talked to Bolden since he was getting ready for the NIT finals.

They are pulling out all the stops to get Bamba. Although Bamba was unlikely to be deterred by Bolden's presence. Still, try everything right?

You will be wrong. Just like this past year's Duke team.

Cal do not allow Duke to pull the OAD rug out from under your feet and slap you in the face with it. I feared this crap 4 years ago.

Luckily enough K and this legacy crap is finished in another year or two.

Shame.

He could have gotten such a wonderful education at The University of Duke.

I simply don't understand why so many of you are linking Bolden and Bamba in any way. Do you really think Bamba gives two cents whether or not Bolden is there? Lions rarely concern themselves with the concerns of sheep. If Bamba was going to Duke he sure didn't need Bolden to leave before pulling the trigger. At UK, Bam would be a concern for him but Bolden is a joke. Stop wringing your hands.
