Wondering if we'll see the freakout again next year if/when we struggle early

This year was pretty instructive in fan over-reaction. Cal has a young team. Most years they don't know how to compete/win in the way he thinks we need to play in March. In figuring that out, they lose some games. By season's end, they figure it out, and become a very tough out in the tournament.

Rinse, repeat. Didn't go through that in '10, '12 or '15. And in '13, after Nerlens went out, it didn't matter. But routinely, we go through this process - we see it regularly, and people still freak when it happens.

Recall the melt down here when we played Florida. If we have the turnover it looks like we're going to have, we'll have hardly any experienced guys next year to lead the way. It could be rough early, especially in early conference play.

What are the chances the reaction is something like "No big deal! We lost some we maybe shouldn't have, had some close ones we shouldn't have had, I have every faith we'll be ready by March!"

Sure thing, right?

Yes, because that's what people want to do. All the need is an excuse to do it. They'll find some reason that this year it won't work or that Cal doesn't know what he's doing or that it's different somehow.


We'll have our flaws next year. We're going to have some ugly games that we win with defense and on the backboards. We'll lose some games folks think we should win. But in a down year across the country, I'll take my chances with the Cats.

The same idiots will be bashing Cal and saying he can't coach, he should have done this, he should have done that, he should have recruited this guy. It's embarrassing as a Kentucky fan. I wish they STFU.

Off season - everyone wants the absolute top recruits. Usually only 3-4 are fully worthy/pass RR muster.
Nov - We're world beaters
Dec-Feb - RR roller coaster of gloom and invincibility, fleet of buses needed to toss players under.
Mar - We're world beaters
Mar-Apr - Cal needs to stop recruiting absolute top recruits

You don't seem to understand the way recognition works. Positive and negative doesn't matter. We're constantly on this program. We're constantly keeping the media heads talking. We are constantly attracting attention. We are constantly attracting coaches like Cal to coach here.

Because we are so in love with this program, in all forms, it makes this place extremely rare and special.

Thank God the majority of UK fans aren't like the spineless dips on this board. We'd be Louisville or worse.
