What really hurts is that if we won that game, the title was there. The other 3 teams in the F4 are good, but they weren't beating this team. Not on their first time on that stage.

Nobody thought Villanova would beat UNC last year, either.

Oregon won't be an easy game at all. Dillon Brooks is Dillon Brooks, Tyler Dorsey has played lights out this tournament, and Jordan Bell has emerged as a beast rim protector inside.

This one is tough to take but it's nothing like '15. That is one we will never get over.

On the 25th anniversary (tomorrow) of The Shot, most Kentucky fans still point to that loss as the worst. All I kept thinking to myself afterwards was "We're back, baby! Probation is officially over, and we're back as a national power."

So, to me at least, '15 was much worse than '92.

and *that* was a long and lonely ride home yesterday.

Good weekend hanging with my dad and some other family. I only get to see him a a handful of times throughout the year so outcome be damned- i'll take it.

Memphis set up fine for the basketball games, but yikes the city is a really sad place. Driving through it you actually get a better understanding of why the people are really miserable and obese and pathetic. It would be hard to be anything else in that environment.

Pretty wild ride this year. Plenty of good highlights. Much needed break for all of us.

Decided to watch in public yesterday which is never smart for me. I have a difficult time holding back emotion, but fortunately most people just get it when it comes to the tournament.

The celebration was unlike anything when Monk canned that money ball, but the swift kick in the nuts as Maye sends in the dagger is something I will never forget. It looked like a damn war scene at Drakes. People just dropping to their knees right there on the restaurant floor. The completely silent environment post game of people not knowing what to do or say. Tough pill to swallow.

Felt extremely confident we had the c#cksuckers when we went up 5 with 5 to go. Just felt like the magic was going to continue and Humphries was going to finger blast every chick in Lexington. Anybody but UNC, please touching anybody but UNC go and win this thing.

Somebody mentioned it earlier but was spot on with the work setting be the absolute worst place I could be right now. I work with a bunch of hens who don't really follow very closely but have the nerve to ask me my thoughts on that GREAT game yesterday. GTFO.

The Cal experiment is fun to always be loaded and competing, but damn it's emotionally exhausting as well. So many chances.

Thought about this the other day: if UK doesn't win another title in the next 2 years, Cal will then have 1 championship in 10 seasons at Kentucky.

The media will be all over that, eager to point out that Tubby also won 1 title in 10 years, and that this proves that despite all the hype, flash and style, Cal = Tubby.

It's incredibly stupid, of course. But it'll happen.

I'm arguing with some touchstick Auburn fan about this right now. Anyone that thinks Tubby is near a Cal equal can go ahead and hire him. And the media is awfully quiet in regards to Duke choking with the preseason GOAT roster in the history of all sports anywhere. So, the media can choke on it's own dick and die for all I care.

Playing the math game like that is silly, though. 1 championship in 10 years doesn't sound overly impressive given our talent, but what happens when he ends up with 2 in 11?

Oh, and the media can pretty much go F themselves, too. So I'm not overly concerned with those asshats.

I've realized I don't really give a **** about the narrative about Cal winning ONLY ([eyeroll]) one championship in so and so years. This run has been amazing, enjoyable, and last night was a definition of a supremely likable team and an amazing game that we didn't really deserve to lose. I started at UK in the fall of 1999 as an out of stater that wasn't a UK bball fan before that. All I can compare this run to is Tubby Smith post the 1998 championship and BCG, so I don't see how you can't be enjoying this. There is really not much to complain about. Having UNC lose would be incredible and make this loss way less painful.

2015 was the only truly horrible moment in this run, and that's because we were so damn close to 40-0 - which was so absurd to even imagine that we would joke about it like it was bigfoot before that season.

The only reason everyone is so damn antsy about Cal and championships is because Cal has put it in our heads that he's definitely not staying more than 10 years. He said that his first couple of years here and it put everyone on edge and made everyone anxious about trying to capitalize as much as possible before he leaves. Coach K is 12 or 13 years older than him, Roy is 10 years older I think, Boheim is like 15 years older. He's not leaving anytime soon, no matter what stupid **** he says. He says all sorts of stupid **** but for some reason we all believe him when he says he's leaving soon. Does he seem like someone that is ready to retire soon? I mean seriously? If you sit back and realize he has at least 10 years left here it will make you enjoy this run a lot more.

-Left Field Lounge on Bardstown Road is a new favorite bar for UK games. In spite of the 2,000 times I've driven by it, I had never been in there. Friday night for the UCLA game was awesome. Good amount of people, every single one in blue, TV's everywhere, game broadcast loud, quality UK decor (and NO UofL stuff... rare in this ******** town), UK fight song at the horn, cheap beers... I mean, that's a great bar. Will be back. Not sure how I slept on it for so long.

-When you don't know where something goes (or can't find room for it in the cabinet), just leave it in the dishwasher for another cycle or two. Also, always lie to your wife about how much the child ate.

I mean, that's about all I got.

Nobody wants Cal to win #2 more than Cal himself does. Not only to shut up the critics but to move beyond the Rollie Massiminos and Jim Boeheims and Kevin Effing Ollies of the world and even things up with Pitino.

He can talk all he wants about "players first" and "ending generational poverty" and "it's about these kids," but he'll die before he retires with "only" one ring.

This actually cheers me up a little bit today. Thanks.

•My wife said "have a good day" to me this morning, so that's a plus I guess. We *did* just spend $2800 to paint the entire house...walls/trim/ceilings. So, I understand her point.

•my kids are awesome...they're so quick to forgive. I apologized 4 times for cussing and throwing a tantrum. They just hugged me and said "I love you daddy...I won't ever repeat the words you said".

•Robert Earl Keen's "feelin good again" ---> look it up. It might help you. It's a good cheer up song. I might prefer the version from Watkins Family Hour, though.

•I do wish every D1 coach could name 3 officials that would never work their games. A voir dire of sorts.

•UNC has two tough-ish games. Go Cocks, I guess. More for Frank Martin than their terrible fans.

Choking is losing in the early rounds against scrub opponents, and perhaps against WVU with NBA All-Stars. But in a one-game-you're-out format, it really is a crap shoot once you get to the Elite 8 and you're going against top talent.

I want my coach to put my team in a position to win year in and year out. Cal's done that in 6 of 8 years. Pitino did that all but one year from 91-92 to 96-97. Tubby had us there arguably 4 times, probably really three, and one of those we lost in the second round.

You can argue Pitino is just as successful, by don't bring up Tubby. Ever.

The media, the opposing fans or trolls are always going to try and steal our joy.

Cal, love him or hate him, wanted to be here bad when most good coaches were just too afraid to take on the challenge of the BBN.

From day one he made us a contender. We
will get ours. As long as he is here.

So UKO, Cedric the UL fan, Seth Davis or Clay f'n Travis or any other mother f'r outside of BBN go get pumped.

It's so transparent now with the relationships these bball media dorks have with certain coaches and with the old & tired mantra of pissing off UK fans to generate publicity/create hits that I really don't give two ***** what they say.

Look at Bill Self. Totally underperformed in Elite 8 games. Yet he will buy all of em rounds of beers and wings at Hoots at the Peach Jam again this July and they'll be backing him forever. They played that fng game on Saturday night in their own backyard on an absolute heater and they **** the bed once again.

Whatever. Really do believe Cal will win another before he retires. Takes some luck but if you keep knocking you'll get it despite the game being so cruel.

At this point I'm really looking forward to the Spring football game that should get fans excited for an awesome football season. Experience, talent, depth, confidence and a favorable schedule.

Also, we should all take GREAT pleasure that UL is about be placed on probation for the 3rd time in the last 22 years and by the sounds of the NCAA's response to UL's defense of Pitino it ain't gonna be pretty at all for that **** stained cesspool.

First, it was Shannon Spake to FOX. Then Sam Ponder got moved to NFL Countdown. Now Kaylee Hartung going to CNN.

This is just too much for one week.

On that last part, FALSE. Maybe not in your presence, but they will.
I think they were referring to what I first said to them...cussing is ugly and you shouldn't do it until you're an adult and can live with the consequences.

Basically, said don't repeat what you heard me say and I'll do my best to not repeat as well.

-I really like Dana Altman with a week to prepare for UNC. Guy just knows his stuff. That's why it was so infuriating to watch his guys completely go brain dead and let KU get back within six. If they trust his stuff, they'll have a shot. If they go hero ball, they don't.

-I really like that next year's roster adds a legitimate rim protector, a bulldog combo forward, and a long wing who should help with ball movement against zones.

-Nick Freaking Mangione, man. Two straight SEC series wins and a Top 25 ranking already in his first season. Guy's enthusiasm is infectious.

-Hung out Friday night in the hospital with a guy from church who was just diagnosed with Stage Four cancer. Spent time in Nashville yesterday with my three-day old nephew who's having breathing problems and was transferred to NICU at Vandy Children's Hospital. Those two experiences, both on game days.....nice dose of perspective.

2 trends that point to Unc:

1. A team that wears a shade of blue has won the last 13 titles.
2. Since 1997 the winning coach has an "I(i)" in his name.

But the other 3 teams broke a lot of trends on their path to the F4.

Coming to terms . . .

-It's damn near impossible to win a title being so thin on the interior. Bam needed help. If I-Zak doesn't have the game of his career, we're not even within shouting distance at the end.

-We dodged a bullet with UNC not winning last year. Worst case: they win this year and it's 8-6.

But either way, they have mortgaged their future, i.e., the next 5+ years, on this team's fortunes.

They'd better get it now, this is their last chance before they're Fd.

I get what you're saying but these same things were said last year, too. I don't believe for a second Carolina is just gonna go away for a while.
