Fox moving up...Bam down to 30th.

I figured Bam would drop since he couldn't get a shot off yesterday. He's gone, though.
Love Bam. Love his energy, his heart, his commitment to the team and program that we saw in the lockerroom yesterday. So I'll try to be nice and vague here. Close to the basket, he needs work. Not great hands, and his footwork is surprisingly ....not great, tendency to walk. That will be corrected, not sure you can do much about the hands. The main thing is I come away from watching him thinking he should be more effective around the rim than he is. I know he gets doubled and pounded a lot, but that's common. With his build, he should be able to muscle more in. Too easily negated at the rim. Bottom line, he's playing out of position. his future is at the 4.
Bam needs to return. He'd be a super soph but unfortunately Cal will be pushing him out the door.
A little more than a decade ago, you'd have a guy like Bam for two or three years. Now it's even a whiff of a possible first round pick and you're gone.
He reminds me a lot of Patterson in his freshman year
Bam is not a 5 his future is a 4. Not tall enough nor a big enough body to bang down low. Has shown several times this season that he can step away from the paint and knock down the occasional 10-12 footer. Needs to extend that out to the 3pt line. Patterson, Davis and Cousins have all done this.
I would absolutely love to have Bam back next year.
He is a 4 like you said, especially in NBA.
But he has so much to work on to get ready

Bam is the kind of player we need to come back for another year. At most other schools, if Bam has the exact same season, he would come back.
Like most have said, Bam is a 4 and was playing out of position here due to lack of an elite true 5. Kind of crazy to see last night what Hump did and wonder what if? What if Cal gave Hump a longer leash during the reg. season so he could've got extended munutes at the 5, pushing Bam to his correct position of the 4.
Could you imagine Bamba at 5 Bam at 4 Knox or Vanderbilt/Washington Diallo at 2 and Green at point....We would find a way to get the ball in the basket....but no one would score 60 on us.
I found it amazing that we waited until the last two games of they year to play Hump and Bam together...
people on here were screaming that Humphries played at all...
People have already forgotten how terrible Hump played most of the season.Even Hump said he was down about the way he played.
Yeah because right when Hump made one mistake, he usually got yanked.
Regardless of how it shakes out, next year we are huge and will look much more a traditional Calipari defense.
Yeah, but the thing is with Cal, he lets his freshman play through their mistakes. When an upperclassmen makes a mistake (not named Briscoe), they usually head to the bench. I really just think Hump's confidence was shot and he really questioned whether or not he was good enough to play at this level. Some of that is on him, and some of the blame has to be put on Cal.
During the SEC tournament...after the Alabama game, they did the post game show at the bar where we were watching the game. We talked to one of the UK radio network analysts and he said he's not so sure Bam was going to go after this season. He more or less hinted that he probably was, but there was still a chance he may come back. But since then...there is no telling what he's (Bam) thinking.
It would be great watching him grow as a UK player next year but if he is gonna get drafted in the first round then he will go. He can work on all the stuff that needs to be worked on while enjoying a nice paycheck. I think he's capable of being money on that 15 footer and that combined with his athletic prowess will ensure a long and successful NBA career. I hope he tears it up wherever he's at next year.
As for Fox, any team that passes him up will come to regret it. I'm taking him with the first pick if I'm an NBA GM. He was one of the most consistently dominant players in the country this year and he's just scratching the surface on what he can be. If he can continue his improvement on his jumper he will truly be a force to be reckoned with. Super excited to watch him ball in the league.
Monk, of course, is a gifted player and will have some epic scoring nights in the league. He needs to add strength and hone his driving ability to really take his game to the next level. I believe the team that picks him will be very happy with what they're getting.

A lot of you are counting your chicks before they hatch. We are not sure that Bamba is coming to UK. Bam will leave this year to the NBA.
Gone but with all of the size at the 5 next season, would be nice if he did return and played at the 4. Found a long range jumper to consistently knock down since the league has evolved in jump shooting big men that spread the floor. Learn the PF spot like Patrick Patterson did in his one season under Cal. Patrick has been a really good 3-point shooter in the NBA despite not hitting one at all his 1st 2 seasons in college.

No way Bam lasts past pick 20. Not even NBA gms are that stupid. Tons of potential.
Bam is a great kid but can't do anything against similar size, can't finish or score through contact and has some of the worst hands I have ever seen. He will go in the 20's and have a decent career. Nothing wrong with that.
I'd love to have Bam back... but if Skal (and I'm very, very happy for him) can go 1st round and make a million, I'm pretty sure some NBA team will spend a 1st round pick on Bam's potential.
I noticed the ul kid, Mitchell was 13th. If that is the case it will be a big loss for the cards, he would most certainly stay in the draft.
Bam will leave. Briscoe will leave. One of Gabriel and Humphries will leave. Meanwhile, one of Allen and Kennard will come back. Giles will come back. Players around college basketball that aren't ready to go to the NBA will come back to create elite teams.

If Bam comes back, Bamba probably does not come here. I'd rather have a Sophomore Bam with more size around him than a raw Bamba

Blame Willis' improved play more than Cal on this, especially with how pedestrian Hump was playing.
Bam will have to put the ball on the floor at some point and right now he don't make many moves to or around the basket, he's capable but it's going to require some time. That's why Chuck Person had a better pro career than Kenny Walker because he could put the ball on the floor. he had an inside and outside game where Walker just was really good from 15 feet in.
