At this point, any program that is looking to replace a coach is pretty much limited to an up and coming guy. Williams, K, Izzo, Pitino aren't going anywhere until they retire (probably all within 5 years and who wants to rent a coach for such a short time). Cal and Self are probably the only two remaining tier one coaches that are young enough to consider another job and why would they? After that who ya got?

Who do you think will take over Duke, UNC, MSU in the next few years - where are these grand slam guys that will step in? Are Capel & Collins great options, because they're the names being mentioned at this point.

I believe IU reached out to Donovan and he declined. Alford's people initiated contact and when he found out he wasn't going to be the first choice for the job he felt entitled to, he pulled his name (and his candidacy was questionable anyway with a mediocre history, the Pierce fiasco, and a lot of people now in power at IU that witnessed the arrogance he displayed off the court when he played there).

A grand slam hire is a guy that is nearly guaranteed to put you at the top. Archie Miller does not fit that description, but may well be the next best thing IMO.
