I don't care what their record is. They beat a 16, 8, 4 (WVU) and an 11 seed Xavier to get there. Then they will get a 4 or 7 to go the finals. They're not better than Kentucky, UNC or Oregon.

Just hate seeing a team like that to get to the finals.

Listen, I don't care what your path is, they are going to the Final Four, not Arizona, or UCLA, or Kansas or Duke. They are legit. You better respect them. I think they are the 3rd best team left after UNC and us.
This . Are they UK , UNC , ect good ? No but they are top 10 good and if you get to a final 4 then you deserve credit.

One final four in 20 years. Not impressed.
They're a WCC school in the middle of nowhere with an enrollment of 7,400.

I'd say they've done pretty well for themselves. Do I think they're on the level of UK and UNC? Probably not. But they are top 10 caliber, and they just won 4 NCAA Tournament games in a row. Ask Kansas how easy that is to do.

I'm also surprised Gonzaga has kept it going. They burst onto the scene in that 1999 tournament and have sustained that momentum ever since. Most programs may have a good year or two in the tournament and that's all you ever hear about them, but Gonzaga has kept this train rolling for years. They arguably would've done better last year had their big man not been hurt and they came very close to beating Duke in 2015.

I remember eating breakfast in St Louis waiting for the Michigan St E8 game that we played later that night. I was reading the paper and talking about how crazy it was that Gonzaga was one game away from a possible FF. It was mind blowing at the time.

It's amazing that they've maintained that relevance for this long when how crazy it seemed then is put into context.

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Gonzaga and UConn elite 8 was on Saturday and our game was the next day on Sunday.

In fact, I do remember because that crazy Gonzaga and Florida Sweet 16 game was on a Thursday night.

I could be wrong about the day I read the paper too. I was there for 4 days and wasn't in the best state of mind for a large period of it.

I most basketball I remember was Syracuse had a lot more fans then I thought they did and Tubby **** the bed with stupid substitutions in a game we were fixing to run away with against Michigan St.

It's not there fault the other top teams lost. There legit. They have some shooters.

It's not their fault, true. But the committee made that bracket a total joke just like the East. They had one other team in that bracket and it was Arizona. Everyone knew FSU was trash and that's why many people picked Fla Gulf Coast in the first round.

Not everyone's journey is the same or was designed to be fair and balanced.

I believe this Gonzaga team could win it all if the offense comes out early hitting shots and playing solid defense. The transfers that Gonzaga brought in this year has really helped this team with Nigel Williams-Goss from UW, Johnathan Williams from Missouri, Jordan Mathews from Cal. These transfers has really helped Gonzaga.

I love the big kid with the beard who starts every game. He can't go more than 3 minutes without taking a breather, but when he's in the game he's a really good post player who can also step out and hit the short jumper. Excellent passer as well.

I can see why. It's so late in the tourney that you have never had to before. Mark Few is a pretty good coach. It is not by accident that his teams always win a lot of games. It looks like the man might have worked on his early flame out troubles from the past. Since I had this team flaming out in the second round, I'm impressed. The fact he did what he is supposed to do as a one seed and make the final four is pretty cool. I have not watched many of their games, but I have been told if you're still playing at this point you have to be pretty good. My guess is while they won't win the national championship, they will be a tough game for any team that has to play them.

They are a very good team but WVA would have taken them out if they had played smart in the final minutes.

Gonzaga is a very good team regardless of who they've had to play. You don't get to this point and not have a good team and it's not like they barely made it in and are having a Cinderella run. They've been winning all year.

I think it makes you guys sound silly when you trash them. They may not have the most talent (I think they're talented) but they are full of veterans that know how to win and give full effort. I have the Zags losing to UK in my bracket and if we're lucky enough to see this happen we should give them the respect they deserve. I bet the players and coaches that are fighting for the F4 respect them.

They did look pretty solid yesterday. I think that is the 1st time I've watched them all season.

That guy in the middle is a load. Their shooting was great yesterday.

Having said that Xavier did not do a lot to help themselves.

Question for the OP....how many programs have at least a Final Four, Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen over the past 3 seasons? I'll give you a hint. Its Gonzaga and 1 other team.

You need to let go of the idea that this team/program is not legit. Their top 5 guys are impressive. You don't throw a veteran team on the floor with 2 McDonald All-Americans, 3 Power 5 transfers that were the 1st or 2nd option for their team, lose 1 game all year and win your Elite Eight game by 24 points (regardless of your opponent) because of luck....you do it because you are a very good college basketball team.

Time to let the "they can't be good because they play in a mid major league" thought process out the window. What Mark Few has continued to do with that program, taking it to the next level is super impressive.

Let me assure you, if we meet them in the final game there will be plenty of hand-wringing.

The only upset that's had an effect on their path was Xavier over Zona.

West Virginia was much better this season than you're giving credit for. They were top 5 Kenpom and Sagarin almost all season. And a lot of people thought WVU would beat Gonzaga convincingly.

Gonzaga's defense is legit. Xavier didn't offer much resistance to their offense but Gonzaga's guards can all defend and Karnowski is one of the best defensive centers left.

They nearly lost to a West Virginia team that shot 26% from the floor. That's almost unfathomable.

They're a nice little team but put any of the top-3 seeds in the South would've ran them out of the gym. Got a favorable draw and took advantage. Nice story, but have to agree with the OP I'm not overly impressed.

The East had the #1 overall seed, and teams that finished with Massey Ratings of 1, 6, 11, 13, 14, and 16- so 6 of the top 16.

Pretend to be psychic all you want. You're not, and neither is the selection committee. The West is generally weaker (or perceived that way) because of the silly overemphasis on geography (too many times the last seed on a line gets booted out west because everyone else on the line is closer to someplace else), and because the best Pac 12 teams generally haven't come through for deep tourney runs, but now I'm looking at Oregon waiting to see who they'll be playing next Saturday after beating Kansas in a road game.

Not sure why anyone would still not respect Gonzaga. They have looked very good and I see a team that plays together very well, can shoot, can play defense, not much of anything I can say is a real weakness on their team. I came in thinking they would lose earlier in the bracket but they've taken care of business and West Virginia was playing very well before Gonzaga beat them. Same for Xavier. The Zags are for real and could win the whole thing.

I didn't respect Nova last year. Not gonna go that route again.

A tad different considering Villanova beat Kansas and then thumped Oklahoma by 44 in the semis. It's a tad different than the fact that Gonzaga will not have played anyone better than a four seed until the championship.

They are now deemed the overwhelming favorite to win it all. Five Thirty Eight has them at 38% to win it all, compared to 18% for Oregon, 17% for us, 12% for UNC, 11% for UF, and 5% for USC.

I won't say I don't respect them , but say they are in the acc , sec , or big 12 -- they have 6-8 losses . With the cupcake path they landed with making this FF , considering their path - I'm not impressed - yet . Heck they might get to the championship and not faced a team loaded with talent . Really how many NBA guys they have ?
