Per Andrew Carter of the News & Observer, UNC's deadline to respond to the NCAA's latest NOI was Monday. That has come and passed so, per Carter, there seems to be another delay.

This thing is going to last a decade.

I'm not doubting there would be another delay, but what is the reason for that assumption. The response would be to the NCAA and not made public, right? Doubt there would be a press release about it.

More stonewalling. I imagine that's all we'll hear about from the espn talking heads now. (DWS)

Crowder now wants to talk to the NCAA, which can cause yet another delay. But the thing I don't get is that she is disputing that the classes were fraudulent.

UNC and the NCAA have already determined they were.

At this point this ridiculousness is all on the NCAA. If this is precedent, then every school should just bathe players in cash cars booze and women and play the "hang on a minute...more testimony coming" game for the rest of the schools existence. Bizarre this is tolerated if they are in anyway attempting to justify their existence to begin with

You kinda have to admire how well UNC has played the NCAA. They have managed to push this whole mess back long enough to make a title run last year and potentially another one this year knowing they will lose a lot of players after this season. Gotta tip your hat to them in that regard.

With the perennial screw job we get from the selection committee, the endless slurping of Duke, the preferential treatment for Kansas, the onward decline of SEC officiating, and the willful ignorance on behalf of the NCAA in what should be a GD slam dunk of a case, I'm damn near ready to hang it up on college hoops. The NBA is way less corrupt and the game is actually more entertaining anyways.

I'll probably follow Kentucky for as long as I live but you have a point about the way college basketball is going. I could see watching more of the NBA at least get less of the espn bs

That's the culture at North Carolina, look the other way, ignore it and it might go away. They are so confident nothing is going to happen it's not bothering anybody. They are pretty good at it, other teams that are cheating need to take notice of the Carolina way.

....meanwhile, UNCheaters continue to prosper on their way to another possible championship. You've got to tip your cap to them as they have pulled off a masterful scam and appear to be getting away with it.

I'm not breaking out the torches and pitch forks until I know they didn't respond. How are we gonna know? They aren't going to make it public.

Because they've already announced they didn't respond. They're awaiting further instruction from the COI in light of the new 'evidence'

I was not aware UNC specifically announced they did not respond. There was no idication from the OP. Do you have a source for this? I would really like to know for sure they did not respond.

If they didn't, then the COI should proceed.

UNC has not submitted response to NOA3. UNC spokesperson: "We are awaiting guidance from the committee on infractions on a new schedule."

I started my boycott of the NCAA last fall. I only watch UK games. If they are not playing I don't watch! I don't care much for the NBA. Now that there are so many former UK guys in the league I might have to switch to that.....Plus they play till the middle of June!

UNC is using the old delay and deflect tactic until the crime doesn't seem so bad.

Well don't leave til we find out how UL comes out. That'll happen faster than UNC. Stankey needs to take a stand and administer the punishment.

I'm not giving UNC credit , it's easy to do when the governing body wants you to get away with it . As for college bb , I no longer look at it like I used to when I was younger . The game is wildly corrupt on multiple levels with how the NCAA governs , the refs are corrupt and the broadcasting media has far too much influence with the NCAA . Eventually I may drift away from college bb as I get older , it seems like a waste of time to watch something that's doctored so much .

Interesting... I decided not to fill out a bracket this year for the first time in years. I just can't seem to generate the interest. I do spend a few minutes tagging @NCAA tweets that tout the educational advantage of athletic scholarships. That is a farce. #UNCCHEATS #NCAAisCORRUPT and I am losing interest in college basketball. I still watch Kentucky and sometimes watch my alma mater, Purdue. I catch very little else unless I catch a score that UL, UNC*** or Duke is losing a game. I might watch that.

I dropped the NFL this year and only watch UK basketball games. I do enjoy the Reds, but I just listen on the radio. I find that as I get older, I care less and less about sports.

No doubt , I dropped the NFL in the nineties. The NFL was a very big deal to me in the dynasty days of the 70's 80's and early 90's . I used to watch the NBA , golf and the baseball postseason but I watch none of that anymore . Eventually I might not care about sports at all .

UNC can carry this out forever, a lot of damage has already been done. Their recruiting has probably never been this bad. Roy looks like he's about to retire and it's gonna take a Pitino-like hire to get them through this mess. This is probably their last hurrah for a while. Their reputation is now worse than any of the other blue bloods historically outside of MAYBE Kansas, and that's a stretch. Their instate rival isn't slowing down until K finally calls it quits, and who knows how long that'll be since he's apparently immortal.

Things don't look good in Chapel Hill in the future.

On an unrelated note, college basketball is going to be real interesting when K, Roy, Cal, and Pitino all retire within a relatively short timeframe. You can probably throw Boeheim in that mix too. Pretty much just leaves Self, and KU could still do better.
