Because of their complete lack of defense, and our improvement in that area, especially with the pick and roll. We could lose, and it wouldn't be very surprising, but I like us in that game.

I think we deserved the 1, and UNC the 2, but honestly other than that I think we got a decent draw. As others have pointed out, after the 1st weekend we HAVE to begin playing good teams, and beat said good teams.
Think back a month ago; how many of us were very, very concerned about the direction our team was headed. Look at this UK team now; we can beat any team in the country, and of course we can lose to a good team as well.
Bring 'em on, we're KENTUCKY, we've been here before. We have as good of a shot as anyone else to win the whole thing.

Ok, I could see that. I still wouldn't say it's favorable but I'd agree that it's a much better than matchup then a month ago. I see your point.

That's my chief complaint w/ the bracket. Before the selection show there were 3 teams that I was hoping to avoid until the final 4 (UNC, Arizona and UCLA), and we ended up w/ 2 of the 3 in the south w/ us. I mean, oregon and ucla are both 3's and from the same conference, is there some reason for putting the team we've already played this year 2 games from us in the tourney, rather than the one we've not played? I bet if we'd waxed their ***, ucla would be looking at playing Iona in the first round and louisville in the 3rd and oregon would be our potential 3rd rd. game.
We only lost by 3 last time.
When a team doesn't play any defense, I'm not really bothered by them. They're around the 120th ranked defense I think.
North Carolina is the only team in our bracket I'm a little nervous about, but even then I like our chances. We have a balanced offense and are starting to really get after it on D.
It amazes me that people find the need to defend the man that hired Billy G and Joker Phillips and the man that was forced to hire Coach Cal. :thumbsdown:

All those teams can beat Duke and a lot of other people in the tourney...

Do you really think no discussions, political talk, or negotiations occur outside of the room, at the hotel, in the bar, etc. ?
Or the entire time they are on the committee ? Let's start with the smallest things ... like sending gift baskets or get well cards for the families.... etc. and work up the list of things to do to get favor
I'd be willing to bet my house that the Duke AD and K had selection talks at some point over the last couple days. Now Cal and Mitch?, seriously doubt it.
We'd not see KU until final four so why bringing them into it when I'm talking solely on our bracket? Witchita St bothers me none at all.. I don't even think they'll beat Dayton.. We have the revenge factor if UCLA makes it to the sweet 16.. We'd have to play a UNC type team to get to the final four so I see no problem there.. Like I said,, decent draw.. Plus we'll be basically playing 4 home games to get to the final four.. Do I think we can win the title,, sure.. But don't think we will.. Good chance on getting to the final four though..
Hopefully, the home court advantage we should enjoy will be a help, but not much stock can be put into imo since we lost to UCLA and KU at home anyway! I'm banking on the fact that were an improved team since those losses.

How does the seeding work? Does it have to be unanimous? Who has the say where a team is going if someone disagrees?
As much as 1/10th vote can I guess. The process they use is not a secret and the committee is not going to change their equation for him or anyone else. I'm not saying not to blame the committee cause he did get a sucky draw but you can't put the blame on Barnhart solely, that's dumb. The blame should be put on the process and what they use for seeding. There is a metric called Rating Percentage Index and that's the most prominent metric they use for seeding. That's why WSU is a 10 seed, they came in at 46 on that list.

You can tell who lives in the real world here and who doesnt. If you think this is a by the book, by the numbers business you're being oblivious. We're talking about billions of dollars at stake, and guys making millions of dollars. ADs must be willing to dive in the muck. Barnhart either won't or is incapable. Either way, the guy is a millionaire because of this job. His job was to Get KY a favorable draw and didn't. He failed, end of story. Why is irrelavent. You get paid a million dollars for results not doing a job.
