Not sure how many on here care, but I like to see all the Kentucky teams (minus OTIS of course) do well.

In just their third season in D1 where they can compete for an NCAA berth, NKU quietly had a solid season. 21-10 overall and 12-6 in the Horizon to finish tied for third. They got the 4 seed in the conference tourney.

After big upsets yesterday where #1 Oakland lost to #9 Youngstown State and #2 Valpo lost to #10 Milwaukee, the bracket is wide open for the Norse.

They play #5 Wright State tonight. They beat Wright State twice in the regular season.

Good luck to the Norse. Hope they can make the Dance!

Yeah, I've been following that. Crazy upsets yesterday. Now they have a legitimate shot. Should be interesting.

As an alum this is probably the coolest thing for the area. From nky and went to nku and that school has grown leaps and bounds. I have watched a few games this year. They have a so center from ncc who is a really solid player for them. Also have a family friends nephew from Owen county on the team who is just a fr. both are averaging 10+ points. I have a feeling they will be better next year. Only 1 sr this year

You may be right. But they did get to play in the Atlantic Sun tourney o e year and then last year got to play in the Horizon tourney. So I assumed they were eligible.

Is it not their 5th year in D1? Maybe just their third full year?

It probably is the fifth year. I think the Horizon League made them wait before being eligible.

They were able to compete in their conference tournaments in 2015 and 2016 because the NCAA changed their rules to allow teams in transition to play.

They play Wright State tonight at 7:30pm on ESPN3.

I'm curious. What would have happened had they won the conference tourney any of the years where they could play in those but were not eligible for the auto bid?

I think that the NCAA ruled that the conference could then award the automatic bid to the tournament runner-up.

^^^i have not seen the draft boards from the Netherlands so I hope not any more then 1, maybe 2.

#3 seed Green Bay lost earlier today, leaving NKU as the highest seed still alive in the Horizon.

I lived in Campbell County for the last 8 years (just moved to Colorado) --- really enjoyed going to NKU games and seeing the progression of their program. Wishing them good luck the next 2 days!

I won a lot of $$$ betting on the Norse this season. They were one of my 10 "focus" teams (that I try to stay studied-up on so I can beat Vegas). (My other 9: Wake Forest, UNC-Greensboro, Davidson, East Tenn St, Morehead, Marshall, Evansville, Vermont, North Dakota St)

I finished the regular season ahead, but not by much because I got BLASTED by my 10th team....Kentucky. The Cats killed me...

This is pretty cool. My cousin was the leading scorer on the women's team in the mid 90's so I've always pulled for them.

How fantastic would it be if they were UL's 15 seed and knocked em off in the first round?

The Red Sea has parted for this team to get to the NCAA tournament in their first year of eligibility. Just think before they ever played a game in this tournament the #1, #2 and #3 seeds were all gone already.

The Horizon has gone backward in time they used to give the #1 seed home court to host the tourney and a double bye to the semis for both #1 and #2 seeds no idea why they decided they wanted their best teams to have to back to old style format.

Despite the double bye to the semis, the top two seeds lost their first game last year as well. Guess they thought it might somehow be a disadvantage to play team that already had two games under their belt?
