Sometimes I do wonder what it's like being a die hard, multi generational, all family went there and we have all the tickets to all the games, WWH but for another school type fan for somewhere like... Illinois. I mean, what do you look forward to/hang your hat on?

Richie- good luck. In my just married days, my wife had a college friend visit for the weekend and she brought her boyfriend at the time. Being a college football Saturday I stocked the fridge with coldies, etc., figuring while the hens left for awhile obviously we would watch wall to wall football and such. Nope. Dude was weird as touch, declared he really didn't like sports and kept to himself the whole day. I like to think my reaction when the hens returned led to their breakup soon thereafter.

Richie needs to be more firm with his LASSIE -- no reason she should still be thinking about planning lunches during UK games at this point, how long have you been together in total, 10 years?

My lass wouldn't have thought about doing something like that after 2 weeks, never mind now -- and I take full credit for that. #mean

Our next challenge is to chase UCLA’s 11 titles. I hope you understand that it’s going to be very difficult. We’ve won eight titles since 1948, and now we’re going to try to win four more. This could take more than a decade, but so what? Let’s chase it. Can we do it? Sure, but it’s going to be really tough. The tournament isn’t a best-of-seven series and the best team doesn’t always win the title. The trick is to always be one of those teams at the end of the season that’s right there. That’s the first step.

Just get a 2nd and i will stfu forever.

If fans around the Commonwealth didn't care so much or put it under a microscope no way this program sustains. UK basketball being held to a higher standard keeps it there. Certainly people go completely overboard like questioning the very core of the program after a conference road loss and bring up every bad thing that has ever happened like they are a wife fighting you over not taking the trash out. But the pressure keeps it going otherwise we end up like Indiana.

Rick Pitino is now 0-9 on the road vs. ranked (read: good) teams over the past 3 years.

There you go, Chad.

I, too, am confounded by men who don't like sports, but I also accept that not everyone has 22,000 posts on a college message board.

The reality is that the man could probably stand to register for a rivals handle (at least), and I could maybe gain some healthy perspective, but both are A LOT to ask of each IMO.
Wait you mean we don't represent the happy medium?

He's a good dude.Went to IU but doesn't really give a **** about IU basketball. He loves the BlackHawks and Cubs. Born and bred Chicagoan. We get along really well.

He's just goes out of his way all of the time to appease her and I've seen this movie before. She will ask if he wants to go to lunch and he will say yes. That's why I jumped in front of this now and he seems to be on board.

3 observations:

1. Thought it was fairly obvious who ran the richie household. I love em but he enjoys the hoots vacation a little too much.

2. Time for SAE to admit we're his actual friends. Not just fanatical partners on a hidden digital life.

3. Not sure I have ever been friends with someone who isn't into sports. Sounds miserable and I have no idea how that would happen. All my friendship revolve around sports.

There you go, Chad.

That dude on Rafters a few weeks back who compiled all the elites' true road records was pretty eye-opening.

Personally, I don't care as much about true road records as I do "Away from home" records. If you can get it done on neutral floors, you're fine.

Neither of my two all-timer best friends are huge sports fans. Kind of weird but I have always welcomed a diverse group of friends. I kind of thought it was cool they were into skateboarding and music when all I cared about was basketball and baseball.

I also believe wholeheartedly that children are our future, but that's neither here nor there.

Too bad for Love, throwing a full-court inbound pass is not an Olympic sport, he'd bring home gold every time.

I feel sorry for guys who aren't into sports. Not in a "haha boy they suck" joking way, but I literally pity them.

To them, there's absolutely no difference between a random sweltering Saturday in late July and a cool sunny Saturday in mid-October featuring 12 straight hours of college football and oceans of domestic light beer. What a miserable existence that must be.

We should all be as brave as Mark 12547:
"I had watched TV over the fireplace at a friend's house only one time, and about a third way through the movie I stood up so I wouldn't have to lean my head back so far."

AVSForum is a refuge of sanity in an insane world, imo.
well can't argue with a guy with this setup

Man Cave: Vizio E500i-A1 "Smart TV" (50-in 1080p 120Hz LED/LCD, has Netflix app.), Sony BDP-S3100 Blu-ray player, PC (Windows 7), Xfinity Internet (officially: 105Mbps/10Mbps).
Bedroom: LG 32LV3400-UA TV (32-in 768p 60Hz LED/LCD), HD DVR (Motorola DCX3501, Xfinity faceplate: RNG200N), Xfinity cable (Digital Preferred Plus), Sony BDP-S185 Blu-ray player.

- Havent been able to do much since coming down with the flu/gunk/etc last Friday. Finally starting to feel like a human being. Can't even remember the last time I actually took a sick day much less two.

* Think I got talked into doing this...

http://www.cloudsplitter100.com/

Kentucky has so much natural beauty. I've hike a big section of this course many times. This is ukalum/kgars neck of the woods, iirc. Incredibly challenging race, right here in yalls own back yard.

- That is some rugged country. Can't imagine running 100 miles of those trails. I have hiked the Ridge Trail running from Cumberland Gap NP near Middlesboro along the Ky/Va line up to the White rocks (I would guess about 20 miles) and that was plenty for me. Best of luck.

...perusing Cot's Contracts, etc...

- I spend waaaaaay too much time on Cots. Just a fantastic baseball nerd site. I'll go on there every now and then just marvel at Stantons deal.

- Along the lines of baseball nerd-dom, I'm heading to Goodyear in March to watch the Reds (and several others) play some spring ball. Always wanted to make a spring training pilgrimage and my work/vacation schedule worked out perfectly. Can't wait.

- Werthers Originals caramels are really good.

- After a couple of months we're finally starting to get used to the new dog being around. Housebreaking is getting easier and you could even say I'm a little attached. Archie isn't very bright but he's crazy loyal and trusting. Solid pup.

.

Dad went down the last year the Reds were in Florida and loved it. Got to meet all the young prospects like Hamilton and bullshitted with Marty.

My dad has done spring training/golf trips to both Arizona and Florida and ranks each trip well above the birth of either of his children or either of his marriages.
