Maybe the NBA should just go ahead

And let players jump from high school straight to the league. Just go ahead and take'm. (If they're good enough) The ones that do go the college route would then be required to stay 4years before they would be eligible to enter the draft. Wouldn't be perfect but would give coaches the ability to build teams. I think it would make college basketball a lot more enjoyable, give players time to develop, and fans time to really appreciate the four year college athlete. AGAIN!

I agree with the 0 or 2, BUT, they have to declare early, so coaches can build teams, and not have the HS players jump to the NBA at the last minute. I have been passionate about UK basketball since the days of "standing room only, for $2.00" at Memorial Gym; watching Rupps great teams, and I fully support Cal, but the lack of "team effort" is starting to be painful.

The NBA is not gonna go back to that IMO. They realized they were getting kids who were not ready for the NBA and were wasting money on them. They wanted the new rule so they could evaluate them better against better talent.
I would rather it be either go from high school or 2 years in college. Helps both sports. Won't happen though IMO.

No matter what's best for the college game, it's what's best for the NBA. They get a free year of scouting, seasoning, and decent coaching instead of risking millions on a kid who's only played in High School.

Not just that but the players union got tired of high school kids taking up
Roster spots at the end of the bench for kids who weren't playing in lieu of ten year vets. That was the real key.

Numbers don't add up to that though. There were less busts in the high school to pros era

The NBA is captain of this ship. They set the rules. I would prefer the college baseball rule. But no matter what rule they use, it should be uniform for all college athletes. No matter what sport they are playing. Same for football, basketball, baseball and even the rifle team.

He cost somebody a lot of money and then when he started getting better at the end of his contract the team that drafted him couldn't afford him. So funny, the NBA has more money than sense, it wouldn't bother me if it folded.

Seems like the two year for kids entering college would be the best for college and the NBA in my opinion.

They should just go back to the way it was.

Lebron did not go to college did he? Or Kevin Garnett not to mention a few others.

The nba likes the current setup---it's best for their league---they will not change---why give up all that money?

The NBA is not calling the shots on when players can be drafted into the league. The moronic Players' Association is who is responsible for the stupidity.

The rule is collectively bargained. That means both the NBA team owners and the players both have to agree to it enough to at least get the collective bargaining agreement signed.

If you are a UK fan and are OK with kids going straight to the league you are crazy.

It may make the most sense for college basketball but not for us.

If the top players all go pro, and it would be more kids than ever, it would be very difficult for UK.

You can say Cal will still get the best of the rest...but we struggle with opponents playing the best of the best freshmen. Now you want to do it playing the 2nd tier kids?

All of you advocating the let em go out of high school are the same ones (like all of us) complaining about losing 4 games in a season.

This process would take us 3-4 years to be perennial contenders again.


I dont really care whats best for college basketball, I care about what's best for us.

2 and done would be awesome for UK. JMO
