ZAAAAY

UK +/- #'s last night:

(-3) Tai
(-4) Isaac
(-5) Mulder
(-6) Fox
(-7) Dom
(-10) Gabriel
(-14) Willis
(-15) Monk
(-17) Bam
(-29) Briscoe

Pretty much everyone sucked last night. The kind of game that can send a season into a tailspin.

Lots of issues and I guess it's just an easy target... but if you were playing pickup ball w/ Monk, you'd probably stop passing to him after a while because he'd be the guy who's going to rise & fire every time. Then he'd get pissed because no one's getting him the ball and he'd shoot every time he gets it. Then everyone's pissed. Feels like our team to some extent. People are pissed for some reason.

Murray was a gunner, but he'd go get a rebound and learned to play some defense.

We need Monk's offense - we'd have at least 2-3 more losses without it - but that elite athleticism would be pretty damn handy on the other end of the court.

We may already be in a tailspin.
Relax fellas, Cal will land the plane. :airplane:

“Land the plane. Survive and advance,” Calipari said. “That’s all we’re thinking about. We’re not worried about the score and who scores and what. Just land the plane and move on.”[jumpingsmile]

Looking at 4+ more losses. Assuming two more regular season, SECT and in the second round or sweet 16.

Spring football, opening day, keeneland, etc.

I'm crossing my fingers that most of this funk is due to Fox's ankle and illness. We were playing pretty well up to that point. And we ran into some tough matchups during that time. We never play well in Knoxville or Gainesville. And Georgia is always a grind.

Get Fox right, and clean up the small things. All will be good.

The Cal Cast doesn't have **** to do with how we're playing. None. Absolutely no correlation whatsoever. It's just low hanging fruit.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it does effect the team. (Anyone with a lick of sense, anyway.)

Instead, it is just an aggravation under the best of circumstances and absolutely no one wants to hear about that crap if the team is playing like human dog ****.

It is more indicative of the same gripes about the 30 for 30 quote, fat jokes, etc. That stuff is cute if you are Darth Vader. But if you slip up one iota on the court, it is a very bad look.

Think about Willis for a moment. He's a Kentucky kid. A senior. Played behind some of the best players in college basketball for two seasons. Has a decent run derailed by an injury last year. Poised for a breakout season as a senior. Will be relied upon to be a shooter. Play big minutes. Lead by example. Storybook really. Except George R.R. Martin is writing the story and Willis is beheaded by Coach K in chapter ten. Such a disappointment.

Honestly, I'm a little shell shocked as to what has happened to this team.

Same.

More confused than anything. I don't know WTF has been the catalyst of this **** show.

I thought trying to establish Bam would open up more of the outside & driving lanes but it's totally bogged down the team. He strictly needs to be a lob catcher and cleanup guy going forward. Really dismayed at his lack of offensive feel and the fact he cannot rebound outside his area...at all.

Half-court offense is Kryptonite for this team and they simply don't have the patience or the focus to execute simple plays. Bledsoe probes at the wrong times and in the wrong places and the problem I'm seeing with that is the other players aren't reading him whatsoever so the spacing sucks and it looks awful.

- Monk never wins a 50/50's. It's either lazy or a lack of court awareness or both but he plays like a ***** out there.

- Kasey Hill. Thanks a ton, kid. [laughing]

Cal Cast has nothing to do with the regression, but the fact is that Cal does and says a lot of corny and/or unorthodox **** that we look past. Talking about shitting ice cream, putting players in headlocks and giving them noogies, the "players first" concept... These things are all fine because whatever, the guy recruits like crazy and beats the **** out of people. When that stops, it's pretty easy to pick on all the silly **** he says and does. Lose three of four and now it's time to take off the clown nose and get off the unicycle and fix the f***ing team, bub.

Same goes for the players. Whether it's just about being a "bad look" or not, when you're getting your brains beat in for two straight weeks, it's time to stop having ice cream parties, stop cutting up on the bench, and stop having Facebook live sessions.

The fans want to see that you're at least as pissed off as they are for two main reasons. First, because if we care more than the players do, then what the hell are we doing? Wasting our time. Being chumps. Secondly, because if you give a damn, we'll hang with you and trust you to get **** right. If you don't, then obviously things won't be improving and I can go work in the yard next Saturday or play with my kids and not waste it caring about something that the players themselves don't.

What happened is we played very undisciplined ball winning on speed and talent for the 1st 3 months and teams figured out how to slow us down. We're playing lazy scared D and too concerned with running to secure the rebound first. All can be remedied but will take a huge effort and should've started in December rather than just yelling "GOOOOOOOO."

Play Mulder some of Zay and Monk's minuets. Scrap Humphries. Go small when we're in foul trouble and step up defensive intensity. Need to get transition points off steals rather than boards.

Yep. It's all fine if you're winning but it's not so cute anymore when you lose by 20 and 4/5 of the marquee games on the schedule.

Briscoe should be a 4 year player at UK. He's not likely to be a professional basketball player in any meaningful capacity.

Ramel Bradley was/is better. That is fact, and not knee jerk reaction.

That said, the kid is a good college player (as Bilas said.) He should be encouraged to grow into the senior leader role, not pushed pro early because it fits the OAD narrative. He's smart and will eventually go pro in something beside basketball.

Didn't the Ulis led team lose 9 and flame out in the 2nd Rd.?

Somebody needs to light a fire under their asses with a quickness, though. This current stretch is pathetic. It's not the fact that they are having growing pains, it's that they don't seem to give a ****.

It can be fixed easily, though...

Fox - just stay in front of your man on D.

Briscoe - Stop trying to do too much. If it ain't there, don't force it.

Monk - Play harder and stop trying to fill your And1 Mix Tape. Rebound. Play D. Give a ****.

Bam - Grow some balls, Pebbles. Where is this BEAST we heard about?

Gabriel - I actually don't have any complaints about your effort. Just know you are getting yanked each time you screw up.

Willis - Stop being a ***** and try hitting a clutch shot or two.

Hawkins - I like you, but please play less. You are useless on offense and aren't nearly as good on defense as people pretend you are. Did I mention I like you, though?

Mulder - When you actually get in, don't miss or you are coming out.

Hump - Please remove the dicks from your fingers. And finish around the touching basket.

SKJ - Get better before next season, please.

Wynyard - Kill somebody. Knock them the touch out and do your little Kiwi dance on their corpse.

Diallo - Be the tweak.

Cal - Win the whole thing again. Then come here and smack Brady, Booker and Cool Cat in the face with your HOF nutsack. Please.

How many times were guys simply stripped clean of the ball taking it to the rim last night?

I mean, I counted several. Time for the football pads I guess, because our guys are huge gashes attacking off the bounce. Never seen anything like it.

Even Bam shows poor fundamentals as he brings the ball down low while making his move, allowing other ppl to gobble him up. Mikan drill ATKOT... Keep the ball up high, bubby. Grief. That's Big Man 101.
