Love him or hate him, I really respect the way he handled Brett Musburger's exit last night.

Felt he treated & praised Brett's contribution to sports broadcasting with dignity & class.

Though often a bandwagon guy, I think he got this one right. My hat is off to him.

Most who hate him do so because of the Duke connection even though they try to justify it for another reason. Objectively he the best at what he does. You have to respect him for his BB IQ and his knowledge of the game.

(BUZZZZZ) wrong answer. Kentucky fans quit respecting him for continually defending scum bags like Pitino and Roy Smith, even though it was obvious they are cheaters

Speak for yourself. I lost respect for Bilas primarily due to his ridiculous stance on UNC, but also because he's seemed to have changed over the past few years since he's become the No. 1 guy at ESPN. Has nothing to do with him going to Duke.

False. He got almost universal praise on this board until he started shilling for UNCheat. I continue to believe he only does so because if UNCheat goes down, it weakens the "greatest rivalry ever", and also Duke has got off scot free with two of their own scandals.

That and he's likely been paid off to shill for the Tar Heels.

His stance on UNC is not something we disagree on , his opinion on that is so out of bounds it changes my view on him entirely . Normally I just disagree with people on subjects and dismiss that as differences of opinion . Jay is too good for his UNC conclusion . They should be punished and he knows it , hiding behind technicalities is deplorable .

Like I said, those that hate him have their own reasons that have nothing to do with how great of a commentator he is. He knows the game of basketball and generally calls it objectively. I've heard him give UNC, Duke and UK crap at different times over different things. He isn't perfect but he generally knows what he's talking about.

No, that's not "like I said". You said most hate him because he's a Duke guy, and we just try to hide that behind other bogus reasons.

The ACC is ESPN's golden child. He know's if the NCAA lower's the boom on UNC it will damage ESPN in the long run. The president of ESPN is a grad of UNC. Jay was told what to say, and is doing as told

Bilas used to be my favorite sports broadcaster ever: really objective analysis and unbiased outlook on every team. The past 2-3 seasons though, that has changed. He used to call out the NCAA on a regular basis too. Not anymore. Now he's on the ACC bandwagon just like everyone else on ESPN.

And ESPN wonders why they're ratings are declining....

I didn't like Bilas well before he defended unc. He's Billy Packer II. But I'll give him some credit for keeping his trap shut for most of the night and letting Musburger have his moment.

Exactly what I said. Those who hate him do so because he is a Duke guy and because of bogus reasons.

Just because he isnt a KY guy doesnt take away from his ability as a commentator and an analyst.

Those who arent objective get caught up in all the other nonsense andblook right past much of the truth he says. You may not like what he says all the time but that doesnt mean he is wrong. It also doesnt mean it is influenced by his afiliation with Duke or the ACC.

Many here cant separate the two. Just because he is a former Dukie doesnt mean he is a homer.

I don't mind saying it: I like Jay Bilas, despite his Duke lineage and disappointing stances on a couple things. I like Dick Vitale, despite his tired shtick and love of all things Duke. I like Dan Dakich, despite his IU background and penchant for taking digs at UK.

Bilas and Dakich are good at what they do. And Vitale loves the sport and is a philanthropist second to none.

It's easy to hate and judge. Some of you should accept people for who they are and what they believe even if they don't agree with your opinions.

Just sayin'

I was insulted by the lack of "Rocky 2" clips in that video montage.

Without Musburger egging Creed on and getting under Rocky's skin, "Creed-Balboa II" never happens and Rocky never becomes champ.

You have a right to your opinion, but I'm not in the habit of enabling people who cover up a scandal like this, which cheated students and opponents, simply because they're good at talking about basketball.

I still like to hear Bilas's views on the game, but I disagree with his stance on UNCheat.
