I know there are tons of threads on the topic of whether it is reasonable for Diallo to Red-shirt or if he will bolt for the NBA during the summer or not. This is not one of those type threads.

I simply want to know if you THINK he will play this season or if you feel he really is serious about his decision to sit out.

To be clear "this season" also refers to the post season tournaments.

I've changed my mind after hearing him in an interview recently talking about whether he plays or bolts to the NBA would depend on what "is best" for his family. He stated very simply that he would do what was best for his family. In most cases, that means money now. I don't think we ever see him in a game.

Saw that to, and came away with a not so nice feeling. Hope you're wrong though.

Cal has done the right thing by saying the kid won't play this year. (Looking out for the best interest of the player is one of Cal's top qualities that helps him recruit so well.) That removes all the pressure.

l think the kid will end up playing this year. If so, Cal will build him up as "he's just too good not to play right now. Don't expect him to play 15-20 mins a game. But, he can make a difference if we need to put him in for 5-10 mins."

Cal is a master when it comes to marketing. I expect the kid to play as we get closer to mid Feb, but they've done a good job of removing pressure and expectations.

Honestly it's all good and fun until we lose a game then the Diallo fun really begins. I can't wait to see the reactions to not playing him. It's like Derek Anderson and the 97' post season lol!!!

Rick should've played Derek and Cal will get presented that choice sooner or later with Diallo. Don't cost us a title Coach!

The pathetic sec is not gonna help this kid get better

Compared to high school or prep school the SEC is a MAJOR step up in competition. Is it the ACC? No, but it doesn't have to be to help him get used to the speed of the game on this level.

There is a difference between playing against the SEC for a team like Georgia etc etc and playing against the SEC for Kentucky.

I agree. When you play the SEC for Kentucky you are getting everyone's best shot and you are constantly playing in front of packed arenas. When other teams play the SEC they barely notice they're there.

Cal says he doesn't plan for him to . Usually that is all you need to know. I doubt he does and even if he does I doubt he plays important minutes . He is here to get a head start on next season.

I don't see him playing for UK next season. I see him going in the draft.

He doesn't play this season, but practices and learns, doesn't touch the draft since he knows it'd be somewhere in the 2nd round, starts next season and ends up a top 15(no pressure) pick in the 2018 draft

I don't see him playing this yr unless something changes dramatically, which I'm not even going to think about an unfortunate, unforeseen event. What I did like hearing was the interview he gave saying bamba is next yrs missing piece which would leave one to believe he will be here next yr as well. I like the sound of that!

I was thinking similarly. Based on his comments, I wouldn't be shocked if we end up never seeing Diallo in a UK uniform.

His main priority plainly seems to be getting the money to his family asap (which is cool with me), and taking a UK offer is a damn good way to solidify his stock, and sitting out the rest of the season ensures nothing bad will happen to make his stock drop.

IF he can be a first rounder this year (which I'm not sure of??), he could end up being gone before we ever see him take the court.

Could be a contributor this or next year. However, he could also just be a guy to pad Cal's draft stats. Come here and protect your draft status all while counting toward the NBA quota. Plus he's a great practice player regardless. Scout team is better with Diallo.

Yeah he'll play this season. Like I said in another thread. If he can defend against dribble penetration. He should be playing 40 minutes a game starting yesterday. Because no one else on this team can.
