Going for 9, you causing trouble again? Of course you are.
Hey, you may not recall the 2011/12 season all that well, but I certainly remember many threads on this board, literally exactly like this one, where someone, just like you, said we didn't have it.
96 was different, we were the best team in the nation and it wasn't even debatable. But we also didn't have a site like this back then either, if we did, you better believe the fine folks of Rupps Rafters would not have let us down. There would have been plenty of negative Nancy's like the dude that started this thread.

This thread was started 3 weeks ago you can thank screwduke for the trouble for bumping it and honestly it's gotten so disgusting in here that this thread should be shutdown. As long as it continues I will continue to defend my right to my opinion as bad as you think it is. In 2012 I had no doubt that team was going to win it all. This team is much different than that one. I know more cats fans agree with me than this thread reflects bc if they post it they will be ridiculed. I also know lots of UK hoops fans that will lose it if a blue blood wins it all this year other than uk.

Lose what queen of melodramatic? It is a freaking basketball game. This is not like winning or losing World War II. [laughing]

You "knew" UK was going to win in 12? Come on 9, I call BS on that.
You're right, this team is different than the 12 team, the guards are ten times better on this team than the 12 team.
But also, there isn't just one road map to the promised land, there are many different ways to get there.
But hey, you can take the easy road here and say UK won't win it, but taking the field over 1 team will always be the better bet. It seems to me like you would enjoy starting a thread saying "I TOLD YOU SO" more than enjoying title #9. It's just a feeling I have.

awww man, why do you have to say "girl" as an insult
[pfftt]

What he doesn't know is this "girl"gets to sit behind the bench 3 games a season. Something he will never do in his life. You don't get that opportunity by hating "Uk" or "cal" but oh well it fits what you want it to be

I won't edit my last response because it's how I felt at the moment but I do regret being dragged down to that point but his arrogance and negativity gets to me the same way Cut Nuts did. I don't ignore people but today I'll make an exception. If you are truly sincere going for 9 I feel sorry for you because you'll probably never be satisfied in life. It really is just a game

Yup never had a doubt about the 2012 season.

I can get where you're coming from 9: I think you're a bit overly negative on here, but I've been doing some thinking the last couple of hours (as I try to fit work into my free time).

So, when I watch a game at home, I notice my wife is constantly asking me why I'm so upset or negative (because usually we are winning the game; by large margins even). And I say to her, "well, we may beat this team, but if we don't fix this/that before March, we're in trouble."

I think this is basically how you post. As I watch a game, I often find myself focusing on what we need to fix, hoping it isn't what gets us beat in March/April. And it's what I comment on, talking to myself, but basically just keeping mental notes out loud.

I don't think I'm negative. I love the team. I love Cal. But my wife thinks I am the most negative person ever, and she says I should watch another team cause this one drives me bat **** crazy.

I'm going to assume this is what you do on here. You say you love Cal. I accept that. You love the Cats, I accept that. I believe you. And you're entitled to an opinion. We good homie. But say something good about this team from time to time, just to keep it real!

what exactly is "it"

What is it that we are missing?

I mean, I get it.

We lost to UL by not defending the pick and roll very well and getting beaten to some key rebounds late.

We lost to UCLA by leaving shooters and getting outhustled by Leaf.

There were glaring mistakes in both games, and I'm sure any fan watching thought, "we've gotta fix this."

But go back through the past 4 decades of champions and find more than a handful that didn't make mistakes to cost them games. Especially early in the season.

And that's compounded every year for us because we play so many freshmen.

But I think we have "It" a little more and a little earlier than the 2011 Final Four team who lost 6 road SEC games.

I know we have "It" more than the 2014 team who eventually lost in the Title game. We didn't know if they had "it" until they beat WSU.

We aren't perfect, and several other teams are pretty good. And that's as good as it's going to be this year.

Hopefully most of our fans can enjoy the ride. I like our chances.

Like i said I have to see our defense win us some games before I will believe. Sorry if that's pessimistic in you view but I look at everything through the lens of a coach and for a team that was billed in the preseason as cals best well we are not that team.
You must have missed the last couple of games where our defense played pretty well.

I'll say it in lieu of the W. this time we give up 100 and when we had a chance to finish them off we let them get a lead. That is not the hallmark of a championship caliber team. I mean 6'3" guarding 6'8"????? Idk what dictated that matchup but as I've said a thousand times we need more size on the floor. Briscoe played hard but there isn't a starting spot for him. He should be our 6th man. Gabriel shoulda been on Jackson. We had 1 player score nearly half our pts. I got back to cals concerns this week and an acknowledgement this team is lacking. Cheaters are a fine team but we were up 10 and we let them back in it. It's all about a championship this year or bust. Good win but we lead by consistent 7-10 points all game and nearly lost it.

Btw this is for the one guy who says I won't post my opinion unless we lose.

I am still of the thought that a bad WIN is still better then a GREAT loss.

Agreed.

I guess what I'm wondering is the OP mentioned that they knew the 2012 team had "it" from the beginning. I'm just wondering did they feel that same way when we dropped the game at IU? The game before that we win by 1 point vs UNC.

But you are totally right. I mean look at ANY team even the ones that eventually win titles and you can always point to areas of weakness or mistakes they make.

I can beat that. When I played at Boyd County, many years ago, we played Sandy Hook HS. Now it is known as Elliott County. But, back in the day, they had a holiday tournament called the Sandy Hook Invitational Tournament. I kid you not. The ****. Back to the thread. The OP has the right to his opinion, but, it seems like he started out with "this team doesn't have it" which I take as, "we have no shot", then he now says that they are not as good as the 2012 team which he knew would win the NC. I don't know if this team will win it all, or not, but I do think they have a good shot, just like 8-10 teams this year. If we are considered one of 5-6 favorites, come tournament time, I am ok with that. You have to have a little luck to win a championship, regardless of how good your team is, and even the 2012 team was no exception. Seeds, locations, injuries, matchups, bad officiating, all play a part of that. This team has a chance, especially being young and getting better all the time. By tournament time, they will be a one or two seed, and one of the teams mentioned to win it all. Will they? Who knows, but I am just going to sit back and enjoy the ride, while watching an exciting team, and let March take care of itself.

I feel that 2012 was a more complete team, and it felt like we were on a trajectory toward a Title.

But what if we had lost to Princeton the year before? Or OSU?

May not have had the same feeling.

And even though that was a more well-rounded team, this team possesses some attributes that one didn't.
