as of now for next year. I didn't realize that. I think Cal is bringing n another class of unselfish players who will mesh very well with who we have coming back.

The question is who do we have coming back and will any of the few returning players even factor much into the main rotation next season?

Gabriel, Humphries, Wynard for sure....That will give us a very experienced front court to go along with our new players....we need guards that is why Diallo is so important along with Green and Alexander..we need Bamba Knox and another guard...even if he is a 3 star for some relief for foul trouble

Wouldn't be surprised if someone reclassifies. If we need someone, Cal will find someone.

Gabriel is completely not for sure. I would be shocked if he was back honestly. He needs money for his family and he is 1st round lock even now due to potential. As he said he plays every game as if his life depended on it as his families does in this regard . Why did he pass up his childhood favorite Duke ? Because he wouldn't be playing near as much at Duke ( see Bolden) and wouldn't have a one and done chance . We have only 1 need left with Diallo in the fold and 2 other bad *** guards ( alexander will be top25 soon) - 1 more SG and I think Knox is being brought in for that but if we don't get him we will add a grad transfer. Bamba isn't a need at all but we will add him . That's what's amazing about Cal he is going to add a top 5 big man and it is at spot we are loaded already. A front court of Vanderbilt ,PJ , Tai , Hump, SKJ , Richards ( who people are saying has looked better then any big including Bamba this season) is just sick. SIIIICCCCCCKKK. Add Bamba and that is Cal's best front court bar none.

Funny that the ESPN article says he is "likely to redshirt."

He may not play this year, but I guarantee he will not redshirt.

Don't give a sheet if he plays, just going to be profoundly excited to see him sitting on the sideline in a
Kentucky uniform.

Also looking forward to reading the insanely hyperbolic tales of his awesomeness in practice - which will frustrate and Intrigue all of us.

Exactly...what skill does he have?
- Can't shoot
- Can't dribble
- Isn't strong
- Has no inside post moves
- Isn't a freaky athlete

Outside of decent rim protector and good motor for a 6'9 kid...I see no NBA in quite a while for Wenyen.
He doesn't need to be good right now. Skal sucked, but he got drafted high. Wenyen has an NBA body and a high motor, that's all they need. It sucks, but it's true.

Cane - Gabriel is not a 1st round lock. No way.

If he were, then he would be on the draft boards right now. He isn't.

What body? He looks like all the UL PF on their roster...skinny long guys.

That's just it, what potential? Skal was drafted because you could see he had a great skill set for his size. The only positive Wenyen has is he plays hard. Name one other thing he does at a NBA level. There isn't one at this point. As of now he is a homeless man's, homeless man MKG.

It was eye opening to see a top 5 recruit tumble to barely being picked at bottom of first round in draft. But Skal did have a really good face up jumper to 18 feet and could block some shots (granted he played like a total wuss in all other facets of game).

But Wenyen wasn't a top 5 recruit and now he doesn't even have the ability to show a jumper to pull bigs away from the basket/involve in pick and pop offensive set.

There is no way Wenyen is getting 1st draft in NBA. Unless he's cool with playing overseas next year...he's back at UK.

I think a decent comp for Wenyen at this point is Cheik Diallo, although Wenyen doesn't have to same wingspan.

Both high motor forwards, both struggled somewhat to get acclimated to the college game.

Of course Wenyen is getting a lot more chances and still has time to turn the corner.

Diallo was drafted in the second round on potential and measurables.

If Gabriel is a first round lock then it gives more credence as to why I don't watch the NBA.

This recuriting class had to be big in just number of players since we lose not only OADs but a few key upperclassmen. Also, we are going to have players return, WG, SKJ, likely and a few of the kids next year are NOT OAD. THis is great and allows less turnover year to year. Make life maybe a tad easier for Calipari. Generally, the 2017 class is not nearly as deep as the 2016 class. This year there are a ton of not only great freshmen but dominating kids. Heck, just imagine too if Giles never got injuried.

I would like to get another top 10 kid and also a shooter. Very worried about shooting next year.

As of now, it's a good bet that SKJ, Humphries, Wynyard, Gabriel will be back and all the other current Wildcats will be gone next year.

I feel like Cal Looks at the top players and then recruits the kids that will mesh and have the right personality. He might recruit every kid in the top ten but I bet some recruits that are top 20-40 have a star by their name. Everyone was disapointed over missing out on Ben Simmons.......until we watched him play........You think Cal really wanted this kid? He probably saw the kids attitude very early in recruiting....

You serious? Of course Cal wanted Ben Simmons. There was just no chance of him going anywhere other than LSU since his godfather was an assistant coach there.

Yes I am serious.....you think Cal wants a head case like Simmons polluting the team? Anyone remember the poison that Rashad Carruth was for Tubby? Cal recruits team players...he doesn't pander to the players that have to be the man......

That's as dumb as UofL fans saying their coach doesn't recruit one and done players. if you think Boogie, Wall, Goodwin, Terrence Jones, Marquise Teague, and Doron Lamb(just to name a few) weren't head cases then you are quite naive. Cal wants the best players in the country. As long as you didn't attend prime prep and you're an elite player, he wants you.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree...........
