Where do we now stand on Trae Young?

Traes tweet yesterday says.... They will soar on wings like "EAGLES".. Boston College or Auburn may be in the mix now, unless i'm reading too much into this.

Look at the shape of those rocks behind Trae. Shaped like the state of Kentucky. He's ours. Done deal.

I can't see UK getting Young and Diallo...I see UK getting Young or Diallo, Vanderbilt or Knox and Bamba. 5 guys are in play for 3 spots IMO

You may reading your bones incorrectly, but I'm not an expert.

The Kentucky stone is no doubt a pointer and the Eagle may also be a reference to my response post in KYtotheCore's post that morning. Not saying that, I really have no clue, but I'd love to trust my limited bone reading skills. Pehaps the recruits are lurking. The quote of "Isaiah 40:31" is among my favorite biblical quotes as well. Cal recruits classy kids. :cool2:

"Blown Away After Big Blue Madness"

And came soaring back to mature with the war bonnet on display!

Birds of a feather . . .

The draftexpress guy also says Young isn't coming to UK

Throughout his recruitment, Young's dad has said UK is upfront about their targets and that other players have no effect on Trae's decision.

Evan Daniels says we have no shot at him now. He seems to be the only credible voice saying that.

I agreed at first but then thought about it. If you have the right players around then then it can work. Remember the Duke back court that won it all? Tyus Jones is 6'1 and Quinn Cook is 6 feet. Neither were good defenders in college either but both could score and both were very good shooters (Green isn't on either of the three kids level shooting from deep though)

Honestly, I think Young and Green together would work, but I don't think he comes. Weakness is that both Young and Green are 6-1' at best. That's a little too small for a backcourt IMO.
Now I'm probably in the minority on that. Young would likely be in the traditional 2G slot meaning he would have to guard a much bigger 2G for other teams.
Cal puts a premium on defense. I am sure I am wrong, but that's my biggest downfall for Young.
I know Bledsoe was shorter but he was also an athletic freak.

Good point. So if young and Diallo come, Diallo plays the 3?

If we don't land Knox I would love to finish the class out with Young, Bamba, Diallo and Vanderbilt.

Our position with Young has obviously diminished at least a tad, that being said idk how you could ever pick OU over U.K. So I believe we're still the leaders in that recruitment with ALOT of time to go. But if green gets us bamba and we lose out on young, I think we traded up.
Bamba
Young
Knox
Diallo

Worst case scenario UK misses on all four
Best case scenario UK adds The top 3(don't really see us being a leader in Diallo, I think he jumps for the league )

Bamba is going to Duke in all likelihood. K has been recruiting him for longer than Cal has, he's good friends with Wendell Carter Jr. who is Duke bound and he knows that he has a better chance to win the championship next year on a loaded Duke squad that already has proven guards in Jackson and Kennard. Duke is leading UK in the Crystal Ball 61% to 39%.

I do think Trae Young will eventually wisen up and head to UK. You don't turn down a starting guard spot at UK for a non-Kansas Big 12 school if you are guaranteed playing time imho.

I predict Knox and Bamba go to Duke while UK gets Young, Vanderbilt and Diallo.

I know many Kentucky fans think we have a real shot of landing Knox to our class, but i have never been one of them. I would love to be wrong on this and Cal signs the kid. Knox would be a stud under Cal. Kentucky would be perfect for Knox. Cal's style of play would be great for Knox.

Bamba and Carter JR might like each other and be friends, but they cant play together on the same court. Carter JR and Bamba's are both centers in college. I know Bamba is quick for a big, but you cant play both at the same time. Bamba wont go to Duke. Knox might if Duke is lucky.

Carter to Duke. Young to Oklahoma. Bamba to Kentucky. The Crystal Ball is not the holy grail. Those guys are just guessing, like you are. And BTW, no player is guaranteed playing time at Kentucky. That's why our program isn't for everyone.

Lol at Bamba to Duke with Carter, Knox and Bolden returning, and despite Green and the AD comparisons.

Lol at Jackson for sure coming back.

Lol at referencing the Crystal Ball after Quade Green.

Lol at Duke having a better chance to win the title next year.

Bolden is gone...he's a mid 1st Round pick according to Givony. Cal didn't do anything to help AD become great like he did with Towns, WCS or Jorts...AD is a transcendental talent that would have flourished no matter where he went to college.

No mock draft has Jackson going in the 1st Round so unless he puts on a clinic this year he's returning.

Duke's starting 5 next year will be Jackson, Kennard, Knox, Carter and Bamba/Bolden next year most likely with Gary Trent and possibly Trevon Duval coming off the bench. That's clearly the best team in the country no questions asked.

Go away, idiot.

Some people were projecting AD as a frickin' small forward when he came to UK. You know, because he was so skinny. And if you watched any of his HS games, that wasn't totally unreasonable. He was pipe-cleaner thin, and he did maintain a lot of guard skills. Cal and the UK staff are the ones who made him channel his inner Bill Russell, and AD's ability to play in the lane is a huge part of what makes him such a beast

The mocks won't reflect anything yet, mostly because no one thought much of him. He's playing very well, one of the top performers on the team. But you're going to find out the real hardships of OAD recruiting: these guys don't want to play basketball for free. And you're beginning to round the corner where your roster is made up primarily of 1AD talent. Your upperclassmen will be gone replaced by much lesser players, because the 40th recruit isn't going to Duke to just sit there.

Kentucky went through the same thing. We had holdovers the first few years of Calipari.. Patterson, Jorts, Liggins, Miller.. all made huge differences. But after a while, those players more or less go away with 1AD recruiting. Mark my words, you're not going to get guys like Allen and Kennard again. And that's tough to overcome every year.

IF, Jackson keeps this up, he'll be a late first rounder before you know it.

No Plumlees.. No Jefferson.. Allen will be gone.. Kennard gone by next year at the latest. The days of Singler/Smith/Scheyer are long gone for Duke. You can't have both.. the 4-year star players and the elite recruits.

Green is the key to getting Bamba for UK.

If we would have missed on Green, then I would have said Bamba to Duke. Green changes everything.

Green also gives us a shot at Knox, but it's a long shot.

I think it will be:

Bamba to UK.

Knox to Duke.

Young to UK.

Diallo to UConn.

Just my guess.

I think UK starts Green, Young, Washington, Killeya-Jones, and Bamba.

I think Duke starts Jackson, Kennard, Trent, Knox, and Carter.

Actually now the majority of scouts are saying he isn't coming. Only UK fans or UK media is saying he still is coming.

The great hung about it is we will see just how right or wrong they are in a couple months

The draft express guy...... that's where I get all my recruiting news.

Are the majority just piggybacking off one another tho. It seems that way. They see it as Green went to UK so Young won't.

Didn't they make that same mistake with Wall? lol

They aren't always right but most aren't guessing like people on chat boards. They actually talk to the kid and people close to the kids and then they make a prediction based on that. Their connections also tell them (in most cases) where the kid is going the day of or a day or two before the kid announces.

It's not really hard to understand that when you remember men and women love to gossip or feel like they have some kind of inside info, he'll just look on here when someone gets some inside info they want to tell everyone ASAP

I'm not sold on "recruiting experts" thoughts. We have his "best friend" Green and I guess you consider Texas his leader we will see how that works out for you. 100% believe he will not go to Texas. If your a prospective top 5 draft pick why would you do that to yourself?

I think you're totally wrong on Bamba. Front court is crowded & Coach K is a suck nut with a dirty dealing assistant. And after we kick your whiney, gay rears in March be sure & come back. Thanks

Anybody who trust that stupid crystal ball thing doesn't deserve a response. I'm not being critical of the recruiting guys but it's nearly impossible to know what a kid is going to do.
