I've said all along that Young strikes me as the kind of kid that would find the idea of being BMOC alluring. Hope I'm wrong.

If not, come on down Quade Green. I want Green regardless. Ulis with 3 more inches.

Who is even the coach of Oklahoma? Do they have a men's basketball team?
Their coach is Lon Kruger, and their team has been nationally ranked for much of the time since Kruger arrived there. I can see why Young takes his scholarship offer from the hometown school very seriously. But if he wants to play at the highest level of competition and become the best player that he can be, then he will choose Kentucky and play for Calipari.

In all seriousness, Ulis with 3 more inches is the unchallenged player of the year as a sophomore. We can't start underselling him by comparing every heady point guard recruit to him the year after he leaves.

I too find the Ulis-Green comparison invalid, at this point anyway. Very different skill sets. Ulis, at the college level, was a score-1st type of point guard, a shot creator, and a superior perimeter defender. Green is an elite floor general and pass-1st type of point guard who excels in transition and dribble penetration. But Green is relatively unproven as a defender and as a perimeter scorer. In reality, Green is at least 4 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier than Ulis, so they are very different kinds of players.

lol. My point exactly. What did you think I meant?
I never understood going to a school because it's already poised to win a title. I figured in basketball kids want to go where they can be developed for the next level. Hell, Alabama isn't a title contender, but Avery Johnson knows the system of developing players. I think UK is a good choice for this reason --but in football if you're good enough, the NFL will find you.

Maybe he is visiting Oklahoma to inform them that he will be going to UK.

Doesn't look like it.

@BenRobertsHL: RT @ebosshoops: #Oklahoma has their entire staff at the #elite14showcase. No surprise with five-star PG Trae Young scheduled to play three tim...

I'm sure this isn't the first visit Young has took to check out his home state school. I'm not worried. This is a smart kid we're talking about here and the kid knows the starting point guard job is his at Kentucky and you just don't pass up the chance to start for a coach like Cal and a team like Kentucky. His home state school just won't give the kid a chance to win a national championship his one year in college. With Cal, odds are he will recruit just enough talent for Young to make a legit run at the final four.

Cal has done everything he can do get this kid to UK. If he picks OK instead, oh well. Nothing more Cal can do. There is no way Young will get the coaching and training he will get at UK. Sometimes kids wanna stay close to home and be the guy to help the hometown school.
If that proves to be the case here, Not much you can do.
