So Tatum the small forward is counted towards Duke's back court so it can be ranked #1 despite not having a point guard? Talent lifts Duke to #1 despite noted flaws but the super talented UK back court is pushed down because they may or may not be able to to hit perimeter shots? Someone seriously needs to call Dauster out on this.
And he talks about duke and positionless basketball.

Ha, no sensitivity at all bub.

WCC made my point in that nobody in here besides Chumps is a true NBA fan. But unlike what was debated ad nauseam yesterday, it's OK to pick and choose your rooting interests in the Association b/c in that league it doesn't matter about the name on the front of the jersey.

Also, I just wanted to get on record at the start of the season that the NBA sucks.

You already know who's going to win the title -> Warriors, Spurs or Cav's.

That's it, that's the list.

Unlike baseball or football where teams can go from last to first or get hot at the right time, the NBA has always been structured where only 2-4 teams a year have a shot at the title.

Makes the regular season and much of the playoffs a joke.

Chill
It was a gut reaction after Schwarber hit a ball off the wall. Just got caught up in the moment with that post, thats all.

Gotcha. I figured he must've done something. I was stuck watching Toy Story of Terror.

I am happy for you, though. Glad that Hoosier Schwarber could provide a spark for the Cubbie offense.

Buckle up kids! This long march from October 25th to June 18th is going to be a nail biter!!

And  trying to bring college football into this. Single elimination post season vs. best of 7's where the higher seed wins 93% of the time. bbdk spin 101 there.

- Andrew Miller is FILTHY. My God.

- I wish Meals all the best. Hope he can get his weight in order.

- I know my hardcore sports fan values are ridiculous to those who don't care about it as much as my kind of people do, but that's the point. It's the same reason BBdK looks down upon me because of my simpleton palate and my music snob buddy Justin looks down upon me for my Dave Matthews fandom. I enjoy snobbery when it comes to things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

- Are the tides turning a bit on these North Carolina and Louisville investigations? UNC, at least, shockingly may have overplayed their hand with the NCAA. If they get hammered, I'm going to be refreshing GYERO like a mo'fo waiting for @Century Cat's post.

- Making a pot of chili this weekend. [cheers] Any good recipes out there?

* Sold a bunch of my bball season tix to friends. I'm only going to one November game and one December game in Rupp.

* Less than 3 weeks to UK vs Sparty in MSG. [banana]

Still working on tix to that game, but we've got our Bengals @ Giants MNF tix.

* I'm not mad at Cubs Fan. Except for the ones who just jumped on board. They were terrible for years. It's not like Chief cherrypicking the Steelers and Cardinals.

* I understand, though. Hell, the Celtics were my favorite team just because the only time the NBA was watched in my house growing up was during the playoffs. And I absolutely hated the Lakers.

Parrish, DJ, Bird, McHale, Walton, Ainge, etc... They were awesome. Plus I had a Danny Ainge baseball card for the Blue Jays and I thought that was pretty damn cool.

I am not passionate at all about any NBA team these days. Pretty much just root for the UK boys and against the Warriors & Lakers.

* Making my first batch of chili of the season this week. :pimp:

* Gonna try to make the UGA or AP game at Commonwealth. I plan to kidnap wcc and bring him along. Don't tell him.

Pretty sure no one gets worked up about "their" NBA team. That's the difference; picking a team you have no association with to "follow" is a helluva lot different than picking a team that you act like is on par with your UK fandom.

NBA has NEVER been better. LP for $200 is such a great deal. Bonzo, going to DC for my Twolves roadie this year actually in January.
City Tap House pre-game.

If you're staying the weekend, Buffalo Billiards in DuPont for all-day sports watching Saturday. Place is fantastic.

U Street & Wisconsin either night, DC9, Eden or UltraBar if you're into that scene. Irish Whiskey Public House for something more laid back.

Dallas I guess since I lived there for 7 years and went to several games but don't get worked up about them at all. The Nash, Finley, UKfanDirk teams were fun to watch. It was good to see them win it all too (after i had left Dallas tho) but I wasn't like partying in the streets over it.

Go Knicks, go Vikings, go White Sox, go get pumped if you [eyeroll] at any of that.

Here's my non-athlete take of the day: That Bob Knight stuff that Chad posted yesterday was funnier to me than anything else. If you've taken one good dog cussing in your life, you've taken them all IMO, and anything else after that is just funny.

Rob Dauster seems more down on our guys than the average dude, and I thought that before he ranked the guards of Creighton ([laughing]) and Mark Gottfried ([roll]) ahead of Briscoe/Fox/Monk. And I really like Dennis Smith too, but he blew out his knee.

Nothing's going to happen to Louisville. They don't mess with you if you're the champion. That's where Memphis, Michigan and UNLV screwed up.

I think I'm going to go to Keeneland today. That should be neat.

They better hurry.

One of the best teams is going to win the title? That's crazy. You hate college football, too?

Bonzo sucks.

This is a huge issue in the NBA, and its ignorant to suggest otherwise. The season opened yesterday, and its already a 100% lock that only two (MAYBE three) teams are capable of winning the title. That's boring.

MLB doesn't get nearly enough credit for its competitive balance. All 10 playoff teams have a very legitimate chance of going the distance.

Pretty casual baseball fan, enjoy going to games, but never really pay much attention to it on TV until the post season.

October baseball is flat awesome.

MLB gets all the credit it deserves, which is very little. I enjoy the postseason, like I do with any sport.

Mostly true but they did take a title from USC so maybe there's hope for that in CBB.

And, they had .0001% of the dirt on USC that they do for UL or UNC.

Gdit...getting my hopes up again.

If you can only pick one program, which one would you want to see given the death penalty?

Hate UL more, and wrecking their program would have more immediate positive effects for UK.

But, if we are going on the idea that it's worst case scenario for both school, UNC has the potential to lose multiple titles and hundreds of wins.

The UofL rivalry is too important and far too much fun for me to wish it to end forever. Would worship their title being removed and heavy sanctions, but have no interest in them receiving the death penalty.

UNC though, [smoke]

He was off last night. Way too many pitches. I think the Cubs hit him the more they see him.

I was rooting for people to get on vs. Lester to see him not throw over. Its the damnedest thing I have ever seen.

Berate him all you want, but this is true. Hell, many of these teams coast through the regular season because they know their seed doesn't even really matter.

Easily UL....but I live in the city with all of the smug pricks so I may be biased.

The newest UNC stuff hadn't been on my radar until reading some stuff just now.

Hopeful: The NCAA uses terms like "willful violations" and "blatant disregard for regulations".

Not as hopeful: Best I can tell from a quick review, UNC is trying to get the case dismissed on procedural grounds, arguing these matters are outside the NCAA's authority. While the NCAA disagrees, it might be doing so simply to avoid a precedent that could render the NCAA absolutely meaningless in future situations.

Hopeful: the motions to dismiss, etc. are going to come before the Committee on Infractions on Friday. This is a MUST-WIN for the NCAA, or it's mostly over. The chairman of the COI? Greg Sankey, SEC Commissioner.

So I guess the positive takeaway in all of this is that if the NCAA were to lose on Friday (doubtful) it will be another bullet toward its ultimate demise.

If the NCAA wins on Friday, it doesn't *necessarily* mean anything will happen to UNC. But there's indication that UNC has really pissed off the NCAA by making these motions, so hopefully the two are now completely adversarial.
