And your connection to Chicago is.......? What?
Humor me. We've heard a dozen other ******** stories about extended family members and video games and cable tv networks and cross country travel and baseball cards and bedroom wall posters. What's yours?
Well, it's easy. As a 5-16 year old my pops took me and my 3 brothers on about 6 trips to Chicago for Cubs games, along with about 10+ to Riverfront to see the Reds play the Cubs. Dad wasn't even a huge Cubs fan just wanted to show the boys a good time. And we loved it.
I remember me and my brothers sneaking down with large groups into the lower level and then getting behind the Cubs dugout and hollering at "Mr. Dawson" and "Mr. Sandberg" for autographs when they came in until they had a manager say, "Boys, the guys would love to give you autographs after the game but can't right now."
Add that to summers when school was out watching WGN day games and about 10 trips up to Chicago with the gang in college and post college years, another trip this year in May to watch them host the DBacks and I'd say I've got a decent case.
Most everyone in KY is either a Reds, Cards or Cubs fan as well. And as a kid, there's no way I was rooting for a team named the Cards.
You get what I'm saying though Geaux Saints!
