I think ill take Cal's word..He said he may start 4 Fr with Briscoe ....Or he may go big with 3 guards...Wills will play, but imo, he won't start...You need to play defense to play for Cal...This year he has players he can go to like WG or SKJ....Willis better shoot high 40's or really improve on the defensive side

Actually agree with my man Ulis on this one.
Too much size...too much athleticism...too much experience and too much deep threat shooting ability for Willis NOT to start.
Fox
Monk
Briscoe
Willis
Bam

This seems very likely, Guys you are reading too much into what Cal said at this point, he was trying to light a fire under somebody or pump somebody up a little,it is how he does things.

i think what happened is that UMM admitted to not being a UK fan... because every single UK fan that logged on to this site clicked on the threads about what Cal said today........... because thats what an actual UK fan does.......

or UMM is lying out of his azz about not seeing those comments........... its absolutely one or the other

The only problem I see with Willis starting over Hump is Bam will basically be by himself down low, at least on offense because Willis will be behind the three line on most offensive possessions.

That could severely limit our offensive rebounding.

If Willis is not out there then everyone on the other team will be in the lane:sunglasses:

One other point,if Cal is serious then a couple of players are way better shooters than they were first thought to be but at this point we don't know that and for that matter Cal probably doesn't know it either.

Ulismyman I know you have a hard on for Willis. From your assessment of him being a pro to now a starter is just another great post in a long line of many. Could wills start? Maybe; but I see briscoe fox monk bam and probably the hump starting. Willis is going to be our 6th man and a good one at that. He's a 3 he not good enough to play the 4 on d as his d isn't that great. I know u have a Willis man crush as we all do, but yours is borderline creepy. He will play a lot and depending on matchups he may start a game but chances out he will be the first guy off the bench as a 3 pt specialist

WG has way more potential and upside then willis. right now it is not hard to believe that WG is way ahead of willis in defense, rebounding, driving the ball, athletic ability, and around the rim.

the more minutes WG gets, the better he will be by the end of the year. willis is what he is.

You guys need to be nice to UL ismyman. He gets these fits of keyboard diarrhea. Basically it's the runs, except through his finger tips. Accompanied by high fever which interferes with judgement. This is debilitating considering his already short supply of the latter.

Pitino has this same issue but with a different part of the body, his mouth. At least.

I wonder if this started for them around the time of hookergate.

To be honest I hope UMM is right as it would mean Willis finally made bone chilling defense his top priority. I'm not holding my breath.

I agree. Humphries or SKJ being better than expected would be just as beneficial in a different way.

We don't need to leave Bam as the only big for long periods if we can help it.

yup. and lets be real about willis...he shot the ball at a great clip (44%). but made less then 2 threes per game. out of his 168 shots, 120 where 3s. so he just waits for an open 3 and he can knock them in. offensively he doesnt do much else.

if WG can make 1 three a game, but do more damage around the basket and at the line, plus better defense and rebounding....it will likely more than offset what willis brings.

willis will have a role on this team, i'm sure he will have some big games and make some key shots.
