Ok have not followed this kid alot but know the summary on him. Is this a reason to worry? I would rather him go to Zona instead of KU or Duke. Does kinda suck that he did not come to UK but you can't get them all and from what I have read many are unsure if he will actually make it to campus and if so will qualify.

If Cal wanted this kid he would be at UK IMO . He doesn't want to deal with the uncertainty . Bamba and Richards will do .

I've been reading he won't even play a minute of ball in college, but if he does he will be very for Arizona...he is a major player..

Would have liked to have landed him just on the slim chance he would be cleared at UK, though. Think he has a far better chance of going under the NCAA's radar at Arizona, though it's still probably 50/50 whether he ever plays college basketball.

I've said before that I thought Ayton would go to UK or Arizona because eventually one of those 2 schools would get serious about him. Haven't felt good about him since he started publicly talking about wanting other schools to recruit him. To me that always screams "I don't want to play for you".

I'm just shocked this happened in the early signing period. Figured this was going to last into the spring. At least it's early and Self can turn his attentions to other bigs.

If Calipari didn't want him, he would not have offered Ayton a scholarship and watched so many of his games over the summer.

As many have said on here Cal didn't focus much at all on him for a reason. The kid even said UK wasn't showing much attention to him. Cal ain't a dummy. He is going to to focus on guys who will be cleared to play and be dominant aka Bamba . He is who we are going all in for as a big just like did with Bam last year. Richards I bet would be the other big we add.

Ayton is a pro right now that is forced to play college basketball. Of course we would take this talented big, if things were in order with the kids grades. Talent wise, Cal takes him. What is the point of adding that talent to your roster if the kid never gets to play college basketball? I bet the kid never sees a college basketball court. It is the reason Cal is not recruiting the kid as hard as many thought. Zona can take the chance on the kid.

Its so funny every time one of these elite kids choose elsewhere when the kid is thought to be going to KU by Kansas insiders. Those guys couldn't miss on recruiting information more if they tried. Every time a KU fan talks about KU leading, I just shake my head and laugh at the fact KU fans never learn their insiders feed them what they want to hear about every recruit.

With this kid having school problems and another elite big man out there, I do think Cal is smart and confident with where Kentucky stands with Bamba. If Kentucky didn't have much of a shot, I do believe Cal risks it and take Ayton's commitment. It has been obvious for a while now Cal and Kentucky is what Ayton wanted. Too bad some of these kids with so much upside can't take their school work serious. Playing for Cal is what the best OneNDones do. Why not give yourself at least the chance to play for Cal by not putting in the work in the classroom. We could be talking about losing a few spots in the draft lotto, which turns into a lot of money. I'm sure Ayton will do awesome in college and go overall #1, but you never know!

The PAoA (Paragraph Association of America) thanks you. You have been our #1 target for years. I don't know how you have done it, but you have managed to overcome it.

Hopefully our fringe lunatic portion of the UK fan base keeps things in perspective. Last year when Fultz and Bridges made their picks early, some of our frailer, more vocal fans started lamenting the process with questions of how good the class would end up being. Matt Jones was among them, with his early prediction that UK would land Simmons, Langford, and Bridges -a predictive disintegration that started manifesting in public surprise when Langford went to State.

It's easy to forget that the coaching staff is well aware of the ebbs and flows of each recruitment. This news didn't surprise them, I'm sure. Even if UK misses out on Bamba, which is quite possible, we have to consider the fact that UK, along with Kansas, are the only two traditional powerhouses who operate from outside any built-in geographic advantage. We don't have, for example, the wealth of prospects who extend from the North Carolina area (Wall, Ingram, SKJ, Bam, Giles, Dennis Smith, etc.) or in this recent case for Arizona with Ayton.

It is what it is. I think most of us knew that the actuality of watching Ayton play real games in a UK uniform was a longshot.

Sandy Bell and company are the reason that Ayton is not coming to UK. Arizona did not have another big that interested and decided to take a chance. UK is in on several others and decided it is not worth the risk of running them off with a commitment that may not be eligible.
