Or it could be that the NCAA has uncovered some things that just had to be reported to the IRS for further examination.

This is my thinking, but perhaps it's just wishful thinking. Ncaa could have been trying to follow the money trail, and ran into what appeared to be criminal activities, and called the Feds. Well, at least that's the narrative I like, so I'm going with it. :sunglasses:

Donate to the Clinton Foundation quickly and the investigation will be shut down Pronto

There was an article in the CJ about a month ago about the bonuses that Ramsey and the other administrators got the past few years. What it said was none of them paid taxes on the bonuses because of what is called tax gross ups or at least that's what I think it was called. What it amounts to is the tax they would've had to pay was paid by the foundation so they basically got millions $ tax free.

Surely the foundation paid the taxes.
Surely!
Unless?

Gross up just means their bonus is made larger so that after tax is taken it comes back to the bonus amount. IOW if they are to receive a $1-mil bonus, the foundation pays them $2-mil so it nets back out at $1-mil. They still pay the tax.

Certainly Ramsey should be on the hook for the IRS to find his compensation level is too high. I'm not sure that the coaches would be in this same dilemma. But Ramsey is waaaaay higher than his peers so he may owe a bunch of back taxes due to excess CEO compensation not being taxed in the same way as regular income would be.

He's been paid to not do that.

Yeah, was going to say; if it was that simple this thing would be done and dusted by now! NCAA has no subpoena rights either so its strictly a voluntary exercise for anyone not dependent on a job or scholarship to talk.

A logical person would assume his silence implicates all at UL including Rick and thats really all NCAA needs

I have a feeling this investigation will go like the Hilary investigation, they will find wrongdoing, say they were too dumb to know what they were doing and do nothing. I have never wanted to be more wrong.

The NCAA wants to go back to UL and start digging into this mess some more but they're having a hard time finding HAZMAT suits that can repel the stench.

The next UL thing to break could be the announcement on a Friday that the CDC is on campus.

The UL announcement will include that it is routine.

IRS denies UofL deductions normally taken by "Adult Entertainment Industry."

- Glitter expense
- Prime Rib buffet
- Couch cleanings
- Brass Pole depreciation
- champagne for the champagne room
Don't forget powerwashing the dorm ceilings...

I could be wrong, but the way I read the Courier-Journal article was that The Foundation was a non-profit/tax exempt organization and they were paying bonuses out in the millions of dollars to several people/coaches without a paper trail. The foundation is also the subject of an ongoing audit from state Auditor Mike Harmon's office.

I read that this audit is an eight- to nine-month process. News today is misappropriate funds regarding their research department and federal funding.
