Hating Louisville

For me it was Cal who made the difference. As soon as Cal came here, nearly every (not totally every, I don't like lumping good people in with bad people) NEARLY every Louisville fan forgot about considering anybody innocent until proven guilty. They were all willing to accept every single cockamamie rumor on the planet to be the gospel truth as long as it was about Cal and it was bad. They totally inversed their entire moral system FOR THE SAKE OF A GAME.

Once I learned that, I said F em.

To be fair (I know, not popular here at times) There were many folks here who did the same thing concerning Cal back in the day.

I will admit that I pulled for UL to beat UCLA in 1975 because I thought we had a much better chance at beating them than UCLA.

The game that Denny Crum got hit in the head with a quarter was the sweet 16 game later that season. The quarter came flying out of the seats after a hard foul on UK'S Dicky Beal. I'm sure the quarter wasn't aimed at Crum. No one can throw a flat object that straight.

Grew up in Winchester, had relatives that lived in Louisville who were UofL fans, hatred was strong. Moved to Louisville almost 30 years ago, graduated from UofL, and hatred grew stronger. Pitino got hired, didn't really care until he started running his mouth, hatred grew more. Got to be really good friends with someone who used to coach at UofL, always told him I rooted for him but not for his team, he's a great guy, still friends today, even though he is no longer in Louisville, hatred still there. The way the media treats them and Jurich is complete control, makes the hatred grow stronger. Friends who acknowledge that the program is a cesspool, but still support them, hatred growing. My kids have friends who attend UofL, play sports there and asked them if all the crap that is going on was knowledge on campus. They said it was, goes on all the time. It is a complete embarrassment to the rest of the state and NO ONE cares that is a fan of the school. Yes, I hate them and always will.

Did we hate Louisville this much before Pitino went there. Before Pitino didn't we root for Louisville in the NCAA tournament?

No and I don't hate them now. Our fans give them way too much credit by even acknowledging that they even matter.

Any UK fan worth a ish has hated Louisville his entire life.
I've hated them longer than you have, and there are others here who have hated them longer than I have. But we've all hated them our entire lives.

To you youngsters out there, if we didn't hate them before Pitino went there, we wouldn't have cared if Pitino went there.

To be honest, I never really hated Louisville until around 2008. Did I like them? no, but there were other programs I hated more than them. I started a new job that year and worked with a couple of guys who were big Cardinal fans and they just did nothing but give me **** for months, and it wasn't in a playful joking manner either, they were complete ******** to me and just constantly mocked me for being such a die hard wildcat. This was the second Billy G year too and Louisville had a good year that season so I really couldn't say much because we were so horrible. I think Michigan State knocked them out in the elite 8 after they were guaranteeing a title and of course they were nowhere to be found after that. Luckily Cal was hired a few weeks after that and they knew exactly what was about to happen. Calipari was the worst thing to happen to Louisville fans because they thought they would be top dog in this state as long as they had Pitino and I think the animosity has just increased tenfold since he arrived in Lexington. The 2014 Sweet 16 ruined the lives of most of them and it just seems that every year they spit out more ridiculous, delusional ******** that I don't even think they truly believe. Their fans are what made me truly hate that program. They never seem to say much about their team, but when we lose a game, they chirp for weeks.

I heard from someone on here that back in 75 when we were both in the Final Four, the U of L fans pulled against us in both games. SOME of their fans respect UK and never talk ish. But there are too many of the other kind, the kind who know every terrible thing that has ever happened to UK and recites it at the drop of a hat.

That's the very definition of the few looievile fans that I know and have to deal with on a daily basis. They all keep up with UK more than their own team.
The most important thing in their miserable lives is not about UofLol, it's "dear God please let Kentucky lose."

What's so interesting about it? Here I thought it was commonplace for for blood rivals to hate each other.

In your world I guess. Me, I stick to an intense dislike for isis and hillary.

Not necessarily in that order.

Hated UL for a long time. When Pitino went there, it solidified it for me. Petrino added more fuel to my fire. Jurich and his arrogance takes the hatred over the top for me.

I used to work at UL (during the Crum years) and as a diehard Cat fan, that was difficult at times. But the rivalry was not as hateful as it is today. Not even close.

[laughing] If you can't differentiate between fans discussing sports hate and real world hate, that's on you. I shouldn't have to explain that.

Obviously, I'm not dealing with the brightest guy here, though. Enjoy voting for Trump.

What a delusional bunch of idiots. I actually made the mistake of going over there and reading that pish.

Most of them are constantly saying UK cheats, contrary to any certifiable proof at all. Never mind they've been caught cheating MULTIPLE TIMES since Cal has been there!! I can't read that without my blood boiling. I live in Louisville, so this is the prevailing attitude I deal with on the daily!

IF you read their forums they are going on like nothing has happened on their campus. They act like the Powell thing never happened. My friend played football for them. He acknowledges that they are dirty. His usual answer to me when I question him about it is, "Jurich is probably a scumbag but he has the athletic department winning". They have sold the reputation of the university for winning programs. That will come home to roost.

Sports are kind of like politics these days. You have radical homers, radical opposition and voices of reason that walks a fine line between the two. One side always lamenting how evil the other is and no opinions will ever be changed. Only through civil discourse can any headway be made and even then the odds are low that any hearts and minds will be changed.

lovely thoughts and well appreciated

However, I have yet to see a voice of reason from that fanbase. Even the nicest and most reasonable of UK posters will get completely trashed simply for wearing blue. Or even better, some of our posters are banned from posting over there because they are UK fans, no other reason. And it has been over the littlest things. When I first started posting on this site, I know we tried to give these guys/gals a chance over here. Our mods didn't automatically ban uofl** fans. It's only since it's gotten so incredibly ugly that the trigger has been so quick.

And that's what's totally uncalled for. The idea that someone would get an automatic ban from a site just by being a fan of a certain school. I've seen Inside Carolina do that and it's ridiculous.

I hear you. As BKO and yourself have said, both UNC and UofL fans are quick on the trigger banning people. You mention politics and I see similarities but I equate both of those fanbases more to entire political systems than just politics.

Seems more of the communist/facist mentality as they believe all their own school's propaganda and will hear and admit nothing to the contrary! I've told many of the uofl fans I know that I would have wanted Cal gone after the Porcini's incident if it happened at UK, much less the hookers in the dorm!! To a person they say UK would have kept him, that winning trumps all at most all schools.

I'm just amazed by this entire thing honestly. I know Mitch wouldn't have put up with any of it! We really dodged a bullet by not getting Pitino back as it's rumored to have been on the table.

This couldn't be further from the truth. Louisville doesn't matter enough for Kentucky to care about them. It's sad that some give them so much credit.

Unlikely you've ever dealt with anyone brighter than your kind so how would you know the difference. You don't now and not much hope for the future.
