Yeah, sorry I don't have more info. The friend who told me the story passed away last month and I never heard it anywhere else.

He was a guy who was well-connected in basketball circles, so I never had any reason to doubt the validity. I doubt it ever became public knowledge.

It might have been more like 35 years ago. Seems like there were some stories from back in the Arthur Hanson days.

Yeah it was definitely Art Hanson. Played against him in hs and went to college with him at Cumberland. Great guy by the way.

I don't know how old Thon is and don't know how good he will be in the Nba, but the one summer league game i caught he was playing in he didn't look so bad. I know summer leagues don't tell much about how their Nba careers go, but if i had to choose, i would rather my guy looks great during summer league than just average. If i'm the owner of the Nba team that drafts this dude, i would be pissed. If he knew about it before the draft, that might change things. Imagine paying that much money to a guy to play a game for you and the guy turns out to be way older than what you are paying for. A few years of age difference can mean a lot in basketball. If Thon is really that old, it's obvious why the kid looked so good in all the youtube videos out there of him. He really was a man against boys. I guess the good news for the Bucks is the fact you can't lie about your size and hops.

Who cares? If it comes out later, don't be shocked if there is action taken against Maker regarding his contract. Teams don't draft 22-23 year olds who are as crappy as he is right now at basketball. His sole value was based on his age and ability to improve over the next 3-5 years. If he's 22 or 23, it's unlikely he improves much at all.

This
we all know how much these NBA GMs love potential. There is next to none if he truly is 22-23 years old. What you see now, is what you get. They'd get him for fraud, i'm sure
