Rondo/Wade backcourt, that wont be great spacing
Mirotic, Butler, Gibson, Dunleavy, and McDermott can all hit long twos and threes. I'm not saying they'll be the Warriors or are even geared towards playing small and outside. However, I can see a Rondo/Wade back court wrecking opponents defensively.
Don't really understand what they're doing. It's like they're trying to be stuck in mediocrity. Both are terrible on D (Wade #68 at SG in defensive RPM, Rondo #30 at PG), and offer very very little spacing. On the plus side, they do most other things well, and they have the talent on D (just not the consistent effort). Just not those 2 things (shooting and D), which are 2 of the 3 most important things to have in backcourt players. As a Bulls fan, I'm not thrilled with the last few days. If it means they trade Butler (who is on a great contract) for less than his value, then it's time to fire Forman.
you know who else is bad for spacing? okafor
okafor plus lakers pick plus saric plus covington for butler who says no

Maybe the first time in his career that Rondo will end up being the best 3 point shooter on the team. Yikes.
Hmm... Lakers will probably convey that pick (top 3 protected), likely in the, what 5-10 range?
With Butler, Lopez and Wade, the odds of Rondo again leading the league in assists just increased. This is good for UK basketball any way you slice it.
Again, not predicting grand things but Bulls didn't just say screw it like a lot of teams would have...
Rondo and Wade were both 2yr deals which means they'll have high trade value next year as expiring contracts. The deals could make the Bulls the 5-6 seed in the East. If it blows up they aren't committed to the players long term. Solid moves by Chicago. If they couldn't get a huge return of picks for Butler might as well try and make the playoffs and perhaps sign a big free agent next summer.
They may not be as valuable as years prior but expiring contracts are still valuable especially for teams that won't to rebuild and unload cap. Also, more than just trades the Bulls can wash their hands of these deals after just 2 years. They aren't contenders but it's a solid set of moves for Chicago.I don't think expirings have the same appeal as 10 years ago. IIRC, Rondo's second year is only partially guaranteed, so less downside risk, and not sure about Wade's contract (that he hasn't signed yet, if I'm reading right?). No doubt the penny pinching Reisndort is trying to make the playoffs and squeeze out revenue.
