I'm sure Briscoe has never been drunk while at UK

So if 2 people do the same thing and one gets caught, one doesn't...ones a let down, ones a leader? Gotcha.

Odd how you just automatically assume that Briscoe drinks. You may want to make absolutely sure before calling him out on it and throwing him under the bus; otherwise, you just look like an ***. Just a thought.

Anyways, for all you know he could be a straight edge type of guy that has never had a drink. Or, he could be a lush that drinks regularly. The point is, you don't really know what Briscoe's drinking habits are and/or aren't, so it's probably best for you not to speak on them.

Pretty bad form to make clueless, negative assumptions about Briscoe in order to excuse, minimize and justify the idiocy of Willis.

My bad. Thought it was Boone since its on the river. And close to Florence. Thanks for correction.
No problem. I actually live in Boone County. I was really surprised he got picked up there. Boone County is mostly a suburb county with families. It isn't the type of place you see young kids hitting bars and getting drunk. Not really a ton of bars in Florence. Mostly chain places like Olive Garden, Red Robin, Logan's, and Cheddar's (if Tom Leach is ever up here). There is a Tilted Kilt (Scottish version of Hooters), but Willis's girl is hotter than the hotties in there. I'll be interested to see where it ends up he was drinking at because there are far better places in Newport or even Lexington or Louisville.

It's obviously not the end of the world for him, but being a UK athlete, everything he does is under a microscope and will be put on display for any and all to see. Hopefully he can be more responsible when drinking from now on.

Old man me: C'mon Derek. This is poor leadership coming from a senior and you aren't helping your case to play a lot your senior year. In the end it's not the end of the world, but a very immature move (see below)

Regular me: Welcome to the club, Derek. I got one of those in college too. Mine because of my mouth in my own car that I was getting a sober ride in. Cliff's notes: Girlfriend (now wife) was my DD for a random night of college drunkenness. DD got pulled over for going 31 mph in a 25 at 2 a.m. on a Thursday/Friday (Fishing for drunks). Cop on the passenger side tells me to put out the cigarette I'm smoking. I tell him that it's not his car and the owner of the car I'm in permits smoking (Technically correct, but wrong answer). I get drug out of the car, slammed on the hood, Mirandized, arrested, charged and not convicted because I fought it and he didn't bother to show up for court. (I didn't leave the vehicle voluntarily, therefore I was forced into Pub-lick as Ron White would say). I was exactly Derek's age - about two weeks from being 21 ... and a sophomore and a half.

Drinking age should not be lowered. This isn't a very big deal but it's not a good thing either. Cal needs to make sure he runs him to death AND suspends him for the first game or two max. If this was a mid major maybe it should be less severe but since he's at UK and in the public eye he knows every little thing you do that could get you in trouble will be magnified.

Cal tells these players every single summer to watch what they do, be smart, and always assume someone is recording them

Bad decision on his part, but no big deal. All that means is he could have been drinking, which I'm pretty sure he is legally allowed to do, and was put in public with his girlfriend. Could have been in a car on the way home and made a stop...who knows.

What kind of dick cop arrests a UK Basketball player lol

:)
I hope your last statement was made with "Tongue in Cheek." I'm just glad he wasn't driving.

This really isn't a suspend-worthy offense. The ONLY reason Cal should even think about a suspension is because there's a total double standard with him and some actual scumbag coaches like K, Self, and Roy Williams. You can be sure that media will run with this if no punishment is taken. So in that sense, Cal should just further his father-like image and actually punish a player..

You know.. unlike other coaches who watch their player trip the other team several times..

It would be a good look, even if I disagree with it 100%.

This thread is pure gold. If this was an IU or UofL player, you'd be wearing him out. All of you. But since it's our homegrown, so-called "Senior leader", there's nothing to see here lol. Classic RR.

Honestly I see more people finding a problem than not in the thread.

For public intoxication? You're reaching here. I mean... He's not 21 yet, so that makes it a little worse.

I don't "wear anyone out" for a public intoxication arrest. Willis will pay a price I'm sure. Probably community service and a week of hell in practice from Cal.
What I will continue to talk about and slam the Tard's for involves members of the coaching staff paying for illicit sex parties for recruits and their parents over a multi-year period.
If people can't see the difference in drinking a few too many and paying hookers for services rendered inside a University-owned property then....well, they're a special kind of dumb.

Btw - the UL board is saying its a big deal cause it's underage drinking being 9 days from 21. That makes it major.

Someone help me out. Wasn't therer a performance in Minardi hall that involved underage?

Myself I don't think it is big deal. Lucky for him he was not driving.

With that said you guys know good and well had it been a UL player folks on this board would be all over it so you have to expect the same from some on a UL board. Both fan bases forget they all live in glass houses.

Easy there. Wasn't really chastising him for it. More so commenting on how it will be looked at by a coach. You don't think it will bother Cal?
It's the first thing I thought when I saw the article. I definitely think that Cal will be upset about the mugshot. You think other fans will have that picture when we come to town?

I get that he was obviously on some mind altering substances and I've never been arrested but I feel like when you're getting a mugshot you're not really in a smiling mood at that point. But then again he could've been on some really good stuff.

With him under 21, any alcohol in his system would be public intox...glad he wasn't driving, Needs not to trivialize the proximity til his birthday, needs to show some remorse, that photo is no bueno...I'm just saying, by drawing attention to his Native American Heritage, may get some backlash...he will be fine, great not too bad of a headline in the late spring...I always worry when we have the recruits signed and on campus...we will see how personalities mesh...
By doing this, we gonna have to go to grandpa hawkins for senior figure...skipping out on uncle Willush

It's not that big of a deal. Really if that was a IU or ul player the rafters would have a thread up with it being on one page for weeks just talking about how silly they were. Willis did a silly move but it's not a big deal.

He was smiling for a mugshot.. while being drunk.. the most minor of minor offense..

Seriously.. has anyone here drank alcohol before?
I don't think people are arguing that smiling in a mugshot is a major offense. It just looks a little bad on Willis' part. Sure, it's pretty funny, it just doesn't represent himself or the university in a great light. But I guess at the same time a mugshot smiling or both isn't exactly positive PR either.

I agree with your basic principle, and I catch a TON of **** for calling out bias on the board. That said, the worst part of this is that he smiled for the mug shot.

If it was an IU/U of L fan, I'd be here saying it's not that big of a deal and I don't care. I feel the same way for Willis.

Who was it, Terrence Jones, that kicked the homeless guy? I honestly view that as worse than this.
