Bam's first casualty. There will be many more when the games start.
That's stupid on his part, except for getting another year to develop. There are minutes to be had down low next year.

I am fully on board with anything that requires Cal to play small ball as much as possible.
Humphries may be the forgotten man in all of this. The kid is a legit 7' tall and has a great touch. The normal maturation process for a kid from age 17 to 18 plus a college strength and conditioning program should do wonders for his game. I think he will be a key part of the rotation next year off the bench. Cal should be able to play small with three guards and Willis at the four or huge with Willis, Bam, and Humphries up front. I like the versatility.
I think this year he plays about the same amount of minutes he should have played last year (read as, had Calipari not tried to showcase Skal) but the year after he has a huge year.

The Briscoe news has me absolutely giddy. I may overrate the kid but I think he's a helluva basketball player. In some ways, the fact that he could still be effective and find the court when he couldn't hit the broad-side of a barn shot-wise is very, very impressive.
He's one of those guys that just instinctively knows how to plays basketball. Plus he's almost like Eric Bledsoe in the physicality that he provides at the guard spot. I just love the guy.
Plus his return alongside Lee's transfer makes sure that Cal can't just roll out jumbo line-up after jumbo line-up, so we should be sure to some offensive flow.
He doesn't have a bad stroke, necessarily, and I think his shooting woes are mental. I'm hoping it was a slump like Bogans junior year and Briscoe comes back on a mission to go in the top 15. He's got the body and the talent if he can hit jumpers reliably.

Yep- that's the lineup I've been hoping for all along. All 3 guards are big and long enough to guard SFs. If Briscoe can improve his outside shooting, that should open things up.
I can't imagine you'll find a lineup this season that rebounds better than Fox, Monk, Briscoe, Gabriel/SKJ, and Bam. That unit will be relentless on defense and the glass.
Still think shooting will be a major issue, but the size and athleticism are up Cal's alley. Get ready for a metric f***ton of zone defense next year!
I don't think SKJ is going to be a star right off the bat or anything, but I certainly think he's good enough to give us some minutes off the bench. People- me included- seem to completely forget about him.

I think he can contribute. But I don't see "huge year" from him. Of course I'm thinking in terms of a legitimate huge year. Not some exceeds expectations type of exaggerated love fest we have for him.
I think it's definitely a question mark, but I don't know if it will be a major issue. Monk and Fox aren't Brandon Knight and Jamal Murray but they're not John Wall and Eric Bledsoe either.
Also, Bolden's rejection should cause Calipari to play Willis his just minutes.
If Lee hasnt graduated he should really consider going to a school like Harvard to get his degree. That'll do more for him in the long run than going to a "basketball school". He's never going to be an NBA player, and he's definitely going to be an overseas pro, so Marcus Marcus get a prestigious degree to use after he's done playing.

Lee and Poythress by all accounts were two genuinely great human beings, who added a lot to the community and made the University of Kentucky a better place overall. However, they both seemed like they were passive in a basketball sense and lacked killer instinct. Losing Lee may help with intangibles. He was soft as Charmin, a liability at the FT line and bailed out the opponent over and over with ill-advised fouls.
Just feel like if he really wants to "develop" better options are to:
(1) stick it out here, play against future pros, graduate, maybe get some spot PT, sell cars in Lexington for rest of life after an overseas career.
Or
(2) stay in draft, go d-league or overseas to make some cash and work on his game 24/7.

Not really. Nearly 7 feet, bouncy, and a silky J.
SKJ is going to be really good -- will probably need awhile to adjust to the speed of the college game, but he's highly skilled and is a great prospect, he rose about as much as anyone over the last year.

Humphries showed he can rebound and shockingly, for a big white tomato can, he can block a shot. Once the game slows down a bit next year he will also be able to hit that elbow jumper because he does have a nice shot, doubt you see many backboard breakers he put up like last season. I'm not going to expect that much from him but he should be a nice role player this season.
Hate to be all rational....but every one of us pillheads, ankle biters, degenerates and pedophiles that post here dream of playing for Kentucky. Hell, even being the water boy or assistant ankle taper.
But that doesn't mean everyone else shares our enthusiasm, so when a kid from California decides he's fed up with underachieving and riding the pine for a school 4,000 miles from home, it's not a bad decision to leave. Honestly, he's probably gonna make a great decision. Transfer to Cal Berkeley or Stanford and pick up a graduate degree close to home? Man, I wish I had those kinds of terrible options.

I think that Sacha Killeya-Jones has much more in common with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist than K.C. Ross-Miller, if we are comparing UK recruits with hyphenated last names.
