What really differentiates Home Depot & Lowes other than the color scheme?

Handy people seem to be really passionate & loyal to one or the other, most seemingly preferring Lowes around here the best that I can tell. Always been curious as an "outsider" to that whole world.

I can't think of many places that I feel more like a fish out of water than walking around in there, pretending like I'm about to really get some **** done.
I have found the blacks like Home Depot while Whitey goes to Lowe's.

^ lol, that's exactly what wife's dad/brother said. I concluded that must be due to Home Depot's Marketing/Advertising presence in and around Football & Sports.

I worked for Lowe's for three years while in college. Most employees would rather you not ask for help, if I had to guess. That said, unless you're a plumber, as employees we avoided the plumbing department at all costs.

Still - Lowe's > Home Depot

Not sure I've ever made a purchase at Meijer(s).

I hadn't really before this one just opened. It serves a great need for Owensboro, since we aren't getting a Whole Foods, Fresh Market, or Trader Joes type grocery store. It's infinity times better than the Walmart and Kroger here. You can get all the normal **** those places offer, plus some much more diverse options that you couldn't previously get anywhere in Owensboro. Plus the fresh seafood and meat sections are great.

If you're used to having the "better" grocery stores around you, it wouldn't seem like a big deal at all. But when you don't have access to that stuff, it's pretty great.

Also, f*ck Walmart.

Seems like Home Depot has a more "big project" feel to it. Like, you go to Lowe's to get a gallon of paint, or a new light fixture. You go to home depot when you're finishing a basement.

This is evidenced by the number of laborers hanging out in front of the respective stores.

Also, Lowe's has a much higher percentage of white hens clucking around looking for items needed for their latest pintrest project

Appreciate the kind words, guys. In addition to writing, think I'm gonna start recording a podcast with ShitBag as my co-host, mostly for fun. Gonna kind of model it after Pardon My Take but focus mainly on UK sports, obviously. Already have Derek Willis' girlfriend, Keely, lined up to be our first guest on the show. Should be a wild time.

-Lowes all/air

-Dropped an entire bottle of scotch in the liquor store on Sunday. Quiet embarrassing. Making matters worse I dropped it under my son's stroller. In a liquor store. On a Sunday. I did walk there so I felt a little redeemed. Also, they refused to let me pay for it. Still, when you say that out loud it sounds pretty rough.

-Trailer Park Boys started pretty slow but then got hilarious. Imagine that's a comedy that BBdk would dig. Just power through the beginning.

-Heat wave is on folks. Leggo.

-Anth much prefers Lowe's over Home Depot.

-I hate Meijer. I used to shop at the one in Hamburg when I lived out that way and they always, without fail, didn't have something I needed on every single trip. And this was before my organic revolution. I still haven't been in Lucky's. Maybe I will go there for lunch today. I don't have much use for Trader Joe's. The produce sucks and everything else is packaged/processed.

-Congrats shitbag. Didn't Coolcat write for KSR back in teh day as well? We even had a GYERO or Wodie Crew website at some point because I have a now defunct email address from it.

-One of the hens is wandering around each cubicle all in a tizzy asking if they cleaning crew got our trash taken out last night because OMG!!! they didn't get hers and she had a SALAD in there. She is appalled.

You two are the same person in my head. Kinda like Max and UCL, except I actually know Max and UCL apart.

Nothing brings out the cackling hens like a fire alarm.

Holy ****. They are giggling, standing around each other's desk's and gossiping like we don't have a shitload of work to do.

Yes, the alarm is louder than it used to be. Yes, we all saw the fire trucks. Yes, we all walked the steps back up to our office.

STFU. Damn.

Wodie Sloot's hen on hen hate is my hatboggin.

Meijer is convenient for me. I have tried to get them to order goetta, they seem to have no idea what that is. I do like the seafood and meat department. It would be nice if they'd move the toothpaste and other toiletries back by the grocery, instead of across the damn store.

Lowe's is closer to me, so I guess I'm team Lowe's.

Wife has been doing some gluten free shopping at Aldi's for me and we like the price and products so far. Been a nice addition to Fresh market, Kroger, Trader Joe's.

I can't imagine that would work at a national retail store.

Dr. Boatenkugel: "Hey, Stock Boy! Yeah, you! How many times am I going to have to ask you guys to order goetta!?! Jesus Christ, I can't believe it's taking you all so long!"

The Lowes closest to me ONLY uses the U-Scan aisle. It's completely absurd. What works amazingly well for small products at the grocery store is a complete clusterfunk at a home renovation big box.

There's always 3-4 people standing around wondering how in tf to ring up a washing machine, an extension ladder, and a pallet of quickcrete. Meanwhile, the angry ninja female overseeing the operation is half gazing at the herd in disgust, and half trying to feign surprise that the line of customers can't figure out this ridiculous process.

F that place. Hard.

Well Captain chin fuzz,

The Kroger (a national chain) down on Richmond rd carries it. So why can't they?

Kroger is based out of Cincinnati so yeah, it's the only place you're going to get goetta outside of Cincinnati.

Having a freezing cold Ale 8 vending machine in our office has really not been good for me. So tempting.

Ichiro is only 40 hits away from 3000. Considering that he spent a good chunk of his career in Japan, that's pretty damn amazing.

I believe he's also less than 15 career hits away from Pete Rose. Ichiro is the best player in the last 20 years that no one ever talks about. 7x all-star, 7x gold glove winner, 3x silver slugger winner. Dude was phenomenal but his last game won't have a fraction of the fanfare someone like Derek Jeter's did. Sad, really.
