I have a friend who's an orthodontist. He partied in college quite a bit, but made good grades. Now he has sex occasionally with hot chicks. Man, things have really worked out for this guy.

Well, aside from his Ashley Madison leak...

PTI(pti) is the WORST in these types of conversations.

Dude is smart, no doubt -- and great with money. Smarter than me when it comes to that, and I've asked & will ask again his advice on certain things -- But he thinks HIS way is the ONLY way when it comes to anything financial, and it's pretty ridiculous. He has no ability to take into consideration anyone's personal situation, as if the same principle applies to everyone...it doesn't.

YOU BOUGHT A CAR DO YOU REALIZE IT DEPRECIATES AS SOON AS YOU DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT??? [eyeroll] No, nobody knows that.

He pretty much mocked me for leaving banking/mortgage to go to KFB & insurance, told me straight up he thought I was making a huge mistake. My only regret is being 7.5 years in instead of 15. Shortly thereafter, he completely ignored me when I told him that banking SUCKED, and took a bank job. You read his thoughts on banking here almost monthly.

It worked out for both of us in the end, but just sayin. There is more than one way to make life (and financials) work, even if he thinks otherwise.

❓

Don't recall that at all.

But yeah, when people whine about how things are so unbelievably expensive and there's no way to do X without going completely broke -- I'm gonna call ya out.

On that note, my boss was crying the other day about his car being worn out and needing a new one...but he didn't have SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS to do so. Man, some peoples luck. He just can't buy a break!

I'll tell you what I *did* do is mock your RB&T career. When interviewing there, our mutual friends had to make it abundantly clear to the suits that our workplace demeanor was very opposite.

100% true story.

-I hated that place, and make no apologies for it. Most miserable time in my life, coupled with my personal situation at the time. Basically told the entire company to touch off and acted like the dude from Office Space in the end, and They STILL offered me a raise (twice) when I left, so there's that. Don't go personal, doggy...not a good time for that. 100% true story.

Hopefully we'll get to ride in Anth's new (6K miles) Rover next week, if he can get the smoke out. [cheers]

I also mocked you relentlessly for buying. $25,000 suv when you made $30,000/year.

And had a 3 hour daily commute.

Still firm on that too, bubsterinovich. You got me on the Reggie Bush/Adrian Peterson deal though. No question.

Sounds like the very end of my WFF career. My last couple of years there was pretty awful. Basically went all Jerry McGuire every day on my way out the door.

The QX4? I didn't buy that, my parents(4)/grandparents did as a combined graduation present. It was used and like 15K.

Thing was dope tho [smoke]

Just another example of you not knowing **** about anyone's particular situation...

I can't believe I interviewed so many times with RB&T. Mercy. I pretty much hate every single thing about retail banking.

I actually got a pseudo promotion/raise on my way out at PNC. That, plus my annual raise came out to just under 3%.

I got offered a 2% raise, and then 4%...by SD himself. Starting salary of 52, EEK. BALLINNNNNNNN

Touch that place. I told Steve D everything but suck my D...then saw him at the PGA a week later, with an awkward handshake. I hated everyone there but Boots, and everyone else hated everyone too -- worst culture I've ever been a part of. My first day Krebs told me "I know this seems cool, but just wait..." Not a good intro.

That was a decade ago, damn. Hard to believe really. COME ON IN, WE'RE LENDING!!!!

You can't really put a price on joining such an awesome team, in their defense.

An incredibly cheapass, Jewish team. But awesome nonetheless.

Can't deny their success as a business, and my Meemommie was close with Mr. Trager (Bernard), which is how I got the job.

...but the place/people/culture sucks ***. Richie can play PC all he wants, but he basically got his 'training' there and bounced immediately. SAE & I will give you the truth in private. Hell, even Boots & Scott G will...2 'loyal' soldiers....[eyeroll]

I just did it in public bc I didn't give AF and that was a pretty horrible and unstable time in my own life. Regret it a little, but not really -- hasn't affected anything I do now, or going forward. Too late to take back now, so whatever.

The closest I came to jumping on board was after WFF. I must have spent like a month hanging out over there, meeting everyone, going to lunch, interviewing...,

They wanted to make sure I was super extry for sure 100% committed and on board and serious and ready to start kicking *** before they made an offer. They hinted and beat around the bush for months before FINALLY throwing out a "range," which was close to what I made working at OCharleys in college. Jesus. F that.

* Dentists will up-sell the **** out of you. I'm assuming it hasn't always been that way but was just probably too naive to notice. The last two times I've been have resulted in multiple treatments that I'm pretty sure I didn't need.

* Always a fan of BBdK and PTI getting personal with each other.

* Skirted the student loan deal by attending a glorified junior college with 4-year degrees. $113/hour (started at $103) my final semester and a nice, shiny marketing degree. Lucked into it too... the parents were down for whatever I wanted and probably would have footed most of the bill for some of the stupidly expensive schools that I almost went to.

* This doesn't apply to gyero as everyone here scored 32+ on the ACT but the military academy deal is a nice option if you are way above average. Really doesn't apply to the regular student. Ease of access to the loans, parents that are unable to tell their kid that they don't need to go to the nice out-of-state school for a psych degree, and people that have no place being in college are the issue.

Mark another GYERO'er off the list of people I've met. Had a great night of patio drinking and seeing a great show with GrandePdre.

Ended up getting a little drunk. Kind of snuck up on me.

Edward Lee is one cool Korean.

- Dentists can have the money.

They make their entire living by putting their face and hands is gross touching people's gross touching mouths. Hell no. A decent amount of my job involves briefly encountering these disgusting humans and their abscessed, rank teeth and mouths. Someone who specializes in that can make whatever the hell they can get.

On top of that, their administrative duties often involved managing a bunch of entitled hens and annoying kids who are screaming.

No thanks.

- Also, anesthesia has the highest suicide rate. :cool2:

- Had a miserably stressful weekend, close to the worst of my life. But finally after a few crafties and pizza yesterday got myself out of the funk. Never fails.

Congrats on crawling back from the ledge CB.

Had explained to me by dentists that dental insurance is pretty much worthless. I mean, they pay for a cleaning which is like $60, and then screw you on any procedures. I had a crown replaced and it was like $850. Insurance paid maybe 25% of it, and they would only pay for one/yr.

I am starting to like my path of graduating from UK Bizznuss school with $11,000 in debt in which I paid off in under 2 years landing a entry level job in the finance world making $22,000 a year. My career path took a 180 two years later but I was debt free. Landed a more cushy gig and purchased a $24,000 car brand new. Probably stupid but touch it. I paid it off in 4 years.

Now I am 28 years and 9 days old with zero debt and a nice salary. I suppose $200,000 a year is cool, but I feel I will survive given my current state. A Rover sounds pretty cool too.

I think dental insurance is excellent. It just helps but doesn't let people forget that you actually have to pay for professionals to handle your health. "Oh, your $1,000 is up this year? Guess you'll have to either live with an aching tooth or not get the other flat screen."

So.... a dentist is gross but being a doctor and sticking your hands in ********, fondling old man balls, examining 500lb woman's vaginas is pretty solid. Got it. Get some rest cb.

****, puke, abdomonal contents, blood, guts, bile, pus do not even pale in comparison to the atrocity that is a disgusting, abscessed mouth.

I deal with the above nonsense occasionally. Surgeons a little more, medicine docs basically none. Dentists deal with that ish EVERY DAMN DAY.

That gross smell when you floss and there's an old piece of food. THAT IS THEIR LIFE.

-Dentists have it easy. Hire a couple hot dental assistants, let them clean the teeth, come by afterwards, give a peek, then hand me my bag of flossers and a tiny tube of paste and send me on my way.

-what made banking so horrible? RB&T were terrible to deal with when I had an account with them. Ridiculous fraud protection. Also, went through some old papers and SAE set my wife up with a HELOC after her divorce back in 2004.

-Jim Craig was the keynote speaker at the franchise conference this year. He did a great job and has really managed to milk that gold medal.

-Richie, Palm Springs was nice. No mosquitos that I saw. It did get tough to keep tipping guys 5 bucks for menial tasks.

Thinking about the worst experiences of my professional career... disimpacting a patient as an intern has to rank up there...basically reaching up some poor guys *** and pulling out feces...starting dry heaving after the third handful.

Or pulling off nasty fungus ridden toe nails. That was gross.

Never forget the smell of gonorhea during a pelvic exam. That thick greenish discharge. Like somebody **** a bag of dead fish guts into rotten Indian food.

Thank god I sit in the dark by myself most of the day now.

2 guys I graduated HS with were complete morons and made it through dental school. Both making serious bank and have smokin hot wives.

Add in to the fact that the dental tech pretty much deals with peoples disgusting mouths/gums before the dentist even sees the patient and all he does in come in after they are sedated and do some work = profit. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Now back to this clock I've been working on for days and not getting **** to fix it.

I can't imagine many fathers out there consider it a "proud" day when their son tells them they're going to be on The Bachelorette.

A Gyero bachelorette would be pretty hilarious. Take us all when we are single and in our prime. That would be must see tv.
