Until they get into select soccer and travel all over the damn place.
Far as I can tell that's every damn activity now. My oldest has friends that are already doing that- for U10. Holding off on that for as long as we can, realizing it may costs my kid a spot on the World Cup starting roster.

Way I see it the "select" nowadays is whenever parents "select" to write a bigger check lol

I mean, I'd have to completely agree. Starts off incredible, then kind of gets that flavor of numbing gel the dentist uses before he injects you.

Kids are starting swim team this summer.

Spend a few hours one night a week sitting outside having some collides with other parents, kids messing around with each other in the pool, and occasionally they race.

KIDS SPORTS!

"Welp, I'm banned from the kids' swim practice for doing governors off the high dive.."

/belligerent & BOOZY!1!

Have a kid on my Majors team who has had an awful year. Barely hitting, making a ton of errors. Basically completely shut down and wanted to quit. Put him at 3B in the 6th inning yesterday of a 2-2 game and told him "I believe in you...give me your best." His eyes lit up and he ended up making 2 huge plays for us that inning. Came back into the dugout grinning ear to ear.

That's why I coach and volunteer. Moments like that.

So, you have no problem taking ALL the credit for the kid's happiness (even though he made the plays), but accept no responsibility for him wanting to quit the sport up until yesterday? Hmmm, interesting. Sounds to me like he finally overcame an unbearable/incompetent coach who was misusing him.

Niece's U12 team next two months:

LA --> Houston --> Colorado --> LA again. And tournaments every weekend they aren't out of town. Kids are expensive.

Geez, the dance stuff sounds miserable.

And it seems all the moms I know that go to the ballpark take a Tervis full of a cocktail for the games/practices. Can GYERO confirm or deny this?

I have no kids, but if I did, pretty sure I wouldn't be flying all over the damn country for soccer tourneys, no matter how "select" they thought they were. And this is coming from someone that looks for about any excuse to hop on a plane and fly somewhere.

From what I gather it's just usually about 2 months during the summer where they will try to fit in two tournaments that are flying(Southwest) and Colorado is a week at their training complex. So 3 flights isn't that bad.

I mean, if I have kids I can at least take them out on the boat, teach them to make me a margarita when they old enough to operate the blender.

Kids are expensive.

Crazy parents with no grasp of reality make them more expensive.
True. I don't think any of them harbor any national team ambitions but tons of girls in this area are getting their college paid for. If that happens it's a net gain IMO. And as crazy as it sounds, colleges will be at those tournaments watching. Maybe not that young of an age group but you never know.

It's a fine line between "relaxing" and being "drunk mom".

One time I humored an old girlfriend about potential future baby names (which is a terrible idea btw).

So I came up with Steven Austin. She really liked that, but wasn't sure which name she would call him.

Easy, I said. Stone Cold.

Could feel the cold ***** face stare without even looking. But it put an end to that **** promptly.

I might be the only person on earth who loved True Detective season 2, and I'm cool with that.

GoT is phenomenal. If you love the show then you'll love the What the Flick episode discussions on YouTube. Many thanks to Benny Manks!
