73 gave a pretty good rundown. Dad and I always parked in Newport and walked across the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, but Covington and the Roebling would suffice. Plus, Smale Park right there on the Ohio side of the river has a lot of play areas for kids now. It's a nice scene with a lot of families and such, along with joggers just strolling around. If you do Newport, the Levee has a Tom+Chee that the kids would probably like for a fairly inexpensive meal.
I always thought walking the bridge with dad was a cool experience. If you want to do the ferry, the boys might enjoy that, too. It goes from the barge where Hooters is in Newport across to the stadium. I think $5 gets you to-and-from.
There are a ton of things for the kids to do inside the ballpark, as well. As far as tickets, I'd just buy some bleacher seats. It's cheap and I think they'd like that. Maybe get there early and watch some BP if you want.
I honestly have no issue with making an effort to be good in all sports and Mitch has made strides in doing so, credit to him for that. But, still
.I find it incredibly awkward that men want to coach women's basketball in HS and college. Maybe that's sexist. I don't know. But it's definitely awkward. Most coaches have a bit of a power trip ego...part of the game...but it seems to the extreme with male coaches in women's sports.
They literally had a giant play area for kids last summer when we went with actual plastic bats and wiffle balls and a miniature baseball diamond that all the kids were going crazy in. Its an awesome stadium your kids will have a blast. Thats the one thing I wish Columbus had was some professional teams other than NHL. NHL games are fun to go to live but it would be amazing if we had NFL or NBA or MLB, but the proximity to Cincy and Cleveland and the obsession with OSU here will never make it a reality.

UK may have more MCDAA's than that psycho has players at MM.
Time to realize nobody really gives a **** about women's basketball other than parents (half of them thinks it sucks) and perhaps a few other folks with male guilt. Wrap it up and play the games at LCHS. Maybe record them with the freshman AV team and show them in a Women's Studies class.
We almost always park down by Hooters and take that ferry across. The kids love it. Plus, it makes periodic trips back during the game so you don't have to stay if the kids have a meltdown.
There is an ok playground that is usually packed and all sorts of cool things for kids, like the wiffleball field 73 was talking about.

Another option that I do when I dont have a parking pass and take my daughter is park off 5th in Covington. Its literally right off the exit, the first parking lot you come across, and a Reds bus picks you in the parking lot and drops you off at the Freedom Center for $1 per person. Youre a 2 minute walk to the ballpark and Smale Park. You can avoid a ton of traffic and the bus takes you back at all times during the game if the kids get antsy.
The stadium sits on the "second largest underground parking lot in the free world," as described to me when I toured GABP during construction. It's not Opening Day. Just park in there.
Also BRAX a good hotel for you to stay in cheap is the Newport Travel Lodge.
Yep. I'm a longtime grizzled veteran of many a walk across the bridge and, while nice, you really don't pay that much more to park right there at the stadium now. And I'd recommend Smale Park for letting your kids run around like maniacs before or after.

Seeing that loud idiot up on stage with that band playing his stupid *** cowbell and screaming into the microphone almost made me just as irate as seeing our football team get punked by a ****** Vandy team.
That right there, besides the simple economics of cheap tickets on a game by game basis, and the traditionally ****** to middlin' product, should dissuade reasonable folks from keeping season tickets.

- Had fried tilapia, shrimp linguini, some sort of pork concoction, grilled chicken caesar salad and some more in the Diamond seats last night. First-class operation down there. Unfortunately, the game was called. Held back on getting smashed on a weeknight because MATURITY.

What's that little hipster village area on the KY side of the blue bridge where the max n cheese bar is and it's so hipster it hurts? You can sit on the patio and watch numerous hand to hand transactions between white tatted dudes on bikes and these homely looking dirty whites that come out of the alley to meet them on the street. Anyway, you can just park on the street for free there. Probably even get served if you wish. If not, get served at the bar and just sit on the patios watching the trash. It's great scenery. They also have a trolley running to the stadium, I think.

Probably not, but it's not JUST the salary with me. It's also the fact that he shows up everywhere he doesn't need to be(dancing at BBM, "singing" before a football game, etc.), so he's impossible to ignore. The dude has no chill whatsoever, and nobody in the athletic department has put him in check.

It is a niche sport. There is a small cult following of people who love it. Most people have no desire to watch it, but those who do love it.
It does a disservice to both women' basketball programs and fans of men's basketball when the NBA or collegiate programs try to market women's basketball by using men's basketball exposure.
I'm not going to UK Hoops games. Ever. I wish the sport well and hope they kick *** and represent my alma mater well, but it ain't for me. Same thing with UK Track, UK Gymnastic, UK Tennis, etc.
The fact that the women's basketball team's coach is probably UK's second most marketed coach aggravates me.
