Duke Insider Andrew Slater Just Changed Pick For Bolden To UK

I'll repeat what someone has said in a good 8 different posts. A player recruited for basketball can't give his scholarship up for another recruit. Only a walk on (Floral) can do that. I don't feel like going into the reason why because someone has said it too many times to count (8 being generous). So someone has to transfer if Lee and Briscoe comes back

If you consider the available facts, Bolden isn't hard to understand. Duke has a scholarship available for Bolden. With 5 freshmen coming, Kentucky probably doesn't have a scholarship available for Bolden. Due back are Hawkins, Briscoe, Matthews, Mulder, Willis, Lee, Humphris, Wynyard. In order for Bolden to get a scholarship at Kentucky, 1 of those 8 must leave, or else Hawkins or Willis would have to give up his scholarship and pay in state tuition. If Bolden wanted to go to Duke, he would already have announced. So it's obvious that Duke is Bolden's plan B. Bolden is waiting for a scholarship to open up at Kentucky so he can take it. For this reason, Bolden will wait as long as necessary, or as long as he can wait, before announcing. The Duke insiders are predicting Kentucky because they know Bolden has declined Coach Krzyzewski's overtures to commit. Watch for Bolden to commit very late to Kentucky, but Calipari must still clear a scholarship somehow.

I was guessing troll, but Slater is claiming a source he trusts more than his others in this one thinks it's Duke and so him and the crew are flipping back ..... again.

What a joke. Don't even bother making a prediction if you're just going to flip-flop 24 hours later.

No offense to Lee, but he probably is what he is at this point. We'd really be getting the short end of the deal there, as we have a hole at the 5.

No doubt. It also really hurts Bam because he would likely have to play the 5.I bet the SEC refs are licking their chops to get him in foul trouble and then we would have to count on Hump/Lee for points inside.I hate the thought of that.

They are doing exactly what their job title is. They don't change it just because of gossip, they change if they get info from a family member or someone in the inner circle. The lower scouts guess but the higher ones have a rep and connections. It doesn't mean that they are always right but they have a better chance of being right because the information that they get is from very reliable sources

"If we weren’t all crazy, we would go insane". To quote Buffett. Let it play out. He signs or he doesn't. We'll be fine with or without him. Oh I'd definitely love to have him wearing UK blue though.

Just an aside about Lee and Hump who are getting thumped a bit in this thread.

I re- watched the UK-Duke game this evening to get my hoops fix. Lee had NINE rebounds and six points AT THE HALF. And Hump blocked some shots, made a couple moves, and shut down Plumlee after he had abused Skal to open the game.

Seth Greenberg said at the half, "Marcus Lee took over the game for Kentucky." And that wasn't far off.

Now, no one would argue that Marcus followed that up with a starring season. But he's had some impressive performances on the big stage. I'm not ruling out a more consistently productive year if he comes back.

Marcus also got destroyed by Plum that game. To be fare Amile killed whoever guarded him as well (Hump and Alex and Skal got worked)

Go back to your board. You guys are just puppets to those guys. They are playing you guys like a drum, getting you hopes up for nothing. The choice is UK and it has been for some time. Chris Fisher, Paul and Tj have been saying UK the whole time. They're not fickle or uninformed like the duke "insiders".

Have to believe Lee not being invited to combine made them switch their picks to Duke.

Hard to imagine Lee leaving for the NBA when they don't even want to invite him to the combine.

So Bolden decided to lean back to Duke because? I mean, Duke has had a scholarship available for how long, and the kid hasn't comitted. These Duke insiders don't know ****, and it's becoming pretty obvious.

Briscoe is almost certainly coming back. Lee's brother just made a public comment that sounded a whole lot like an assurance that Lee is coming back too. Lee obviously isn't going to get drafted, and Briscoe won't settle for going in the late 2nd round. If a scholarship opens for Bolden, it will need to happen another way. Calipari will not force anyone out just to open a scholarship. It's possible that Mulder could give up basketball, or that Hawkins or Willis could agree to pay in state tuition, but I honestly don't know why they would. This is exactly why Bolden is waiting till the last minute to announce. It's obvious that Bolden wants to play for Calipari. Maybe Briscoe goes to camp, hits some jump shots, and works his way up into the 1st round. Maybe Adebayo turns out to have an academic problem. Maybe someone transfers. I don't see any of those things happening. But Bolden is waiting on Kentucky for a reason. Calipari has obviously told him that something will probably open up. Something to remember here. Bolden does not have to declare in May. He could just show up in Lexington or Durham in August and sign his financial papers then.

Cal already has this figured out. He isn't going to keep saying that we will hopefully be adding another if he didn't have it worked out already. It just hasn't been made public. Bolden wouldn't still have us as an option if Cal wasn't going to accept him. There is a spot for him and a scholarship for him next year if he wants it. I'm sure it has been figured out for a while now but we just haven't heard yet. The situation is under control with Cal.

It could be as simple as the thought was Lee was leaving..... so sources thought Bolden to UK but now today it comes out Lee is on the alternate list for the combine and maybe the sources think that pushes Lee back to UK and Bolden to Duke?????????????????
that makes perfect sense, actually. Good call

me either
Marcus does well when he has a strong, consistent big in the front court with him. Bam should be that guy, yes? Marcus had some good games this year, but it seemed (and I could be wrong) he disappeared a bit when Alex did. Think about the games where he DID play well.
And, I think, many are underestimating Humphries. Not that he'll be some spectacular five star like Bolden is, but he can be good if he puts in the work.

Don't know why you think I was being a smart ***. I only posted two facts.

You can type "***". It's not against board rules.
I apologize but I thought you were being a jerk by saying "I know where he is", you know sorta like my statement of the all star game he's in was old news to everyone.

This is a common belief, and may be correct, but nobody who espouses this belief actually knows if it is true. There is not a precedent to cite, no history of Cal cutting a player he recruited to UK anyway, to make room for another recruit. You guys can keep repeating it but it is still just as much a guess as those who are saying they don't think Cal is going to force someone out. And even if someone does end up leaving, it doesn't mean he was forced out. None of us knows the inner workings of this team, so unless it comes out publicly we are all guessing.
