This thread is a home for special UK moments

When were they and why were they special to you!

If you can find a YouTube clip that is preferred, if not, then explain it...

The moment can be an entire game, part of a game, one play, one image etc...

Whatever floats your boat and why!

This segment I'm about to show is near and dear because of watching it with my dad and abunch of UNC fans in the room, plus it was just awesome!

Wow that's awesome! Being a little younger, I have never seen that video before, thank you for sharing!

Man Rick Pitino looks young!

I wonder how many nights over the last 3-4 years he has sat up late at night and fantasized about never leaving Kentucky!

I was young, but I remember this well. It's interesting how excited Pitino and the team were, in retrospect, because it was just a regular season invitational game. But it was another indication that Kentucky basketball was truly "back."

And how hilarious that it was the first use of instant replay for non-clock issues!

Wow! I've heard about the Brassow tip in, but I had never seen it until now either. If you old timers really want to feel old...I turn 25 next month, I was only 2 years old when this game was played.

I'm 29 so I don't go back past the mid 90's with UK sports.

Basketball- First the more obvious. The 5 threes from Prince. We were running late and arrived as Prince had nailed his 3rd three.
Less obvious... As much as it sucked to be in the NIT, it was awesome to be at what I hope was Kentucky men's last game at Memorial. And that Stevenson dunk!

Football- UK vs UGA 2006 and the win over UT. 2006 we stormed the field and brought down the goal posts! (Which you can no longer do).
I had watched UK lost to UT every way imaginable. I was at the 2007 4 OT game. I honestly believed we'd never beat them in my lifetime. Thank God for Matt Roark.

Kyle Macy hitting two free throws to win the game at ILL on Christmas Eve. They had a big snow storm and the game was delayed waiting for one of the refs. They used a HS ref out of the stands. I jumped out of my recliner and kind of stumbled in to the Christmas tree.

1. SEC Tourney OT win against Arkansas. My wife, a non-UK fan, was with me at the game and realized I wasn't alone in my crazy dedication to UK basketball. And she has been a fan ever since.
2. Took my son, around 10 at the time, to the UK/UNC game at Rupp when Anthony Davis made the block in the final seconds. Sharing that with him was nothing short of phenomenal.
3 2012 NCAA Championship game, to see the Cats win it all live and in person was incredible. Especially when I was with a childhood friend who shares my passion for the Cats.

98 Duke will probably never be topped for me. I'm 32, and my FIRST memory as a UK fan was Laettner's shot.

Seriously. That's when my brain kicked on and started recording Kentucky basketball. 92-98 felt like 20 years for me. And let's not forget, that 98 Duke team was nasty. When we came back to win I was watching with my dad, my 4 uncles and a few cousins. My dad turned to me and just said "we just won the championship". He knew after beating Duke, they wouldn't lose to anybody else.

The sweetest win I ever watched.

Loved the ULose and iusedtobe games that happened during Christmas break...

. Always got to watch them in North Carolina with extended family..

2 memorable ones were the sparks 3 point foul at the end to win and Mike David running around like an idiot

That Liggins corner 3 against UNC will always have a special place in my heart!!

As well as the block he had on Kendall Marshall the previous possession!!

I was in college in a room full of UNC fans, in North Carolina, and it was our first trip to the final four in 11 years

I was 10 years old and crying my eyes out at halftime of that game because I knew we were going to lose!

My dad sat me down at halftime and told me to quit crying and that I shouldn't give up because Kentucky hadn't given up either... He said the game was not over

Well we all know the outcome, and he parlayed that night into a "never give up" lesson for the rest of my life... To this day he will still reference that game!

This is just one of the reasons why Kentucky basketball transcends the hardwood! I'm sure many fans have similar stories or life lessons they have taken from the Cats over the years!

This is the kinda stuff that truly makes Kentucky basketball special and probably why we all connect to it on a level greater than just a ball being bounced!

Before they became the Unforgettables, Woods, Richie, Deron & Pel were part of the Leftovers. On February 15, 1990, I watched them, along with Reggie Hanson, Derrick Miller & Jeff Brassow, beat Shaq, Chris Jackson, Stanley Roberts and the rest of the mighty LSU Tigers by a score of 100-95.

Maybe I should say it was on Feb. 16th, since the game was on a delayed TV broadcast at 1 in the morning, due to the probation and penalties the Cats had received from the NCAA. The scrappy little (nobody really over 6' 7") team was on its way to a 14-14 record, and they'd taken a lot of lumps during the year, with losses to the Whoosiers, UNCheat, UL, and a 150-95 whacking from Kansas.

UK had already been whipped by LSU earlier in the season, down in Baton Rouge. I'd made it through the evening without hearing about the game, but I was objectively expecting another loss to the Tigers, I just hoped The Cats would make it a good fight. Even though I thought the picture below summed up our chances... The Boys did what needed to be done! Those were some Dark Days for the program, but that win was like a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.

I was so jazzed after the win, I couldn't go to sleep for quite a while. I was 7 kinds of tired the next day at work... but I had a smile that just wouldn't quit.

Senior night 2003 Kelenna Azubuike dunk on Vanderbilt. Special for me because this was the first game I saw in person with my Dad at Rupp, we still talk about this dunk today.

Patrick sparks 3 against mich st. Just sucks we ended up losing.
I was at that game in Austin and still can't believe how crazy that shot was...hit the front of the rim then the backboard and rolled around the rim a couple times before dropping. That was back before they could show instant replays in the arena and no one knew what was going on if refs were reviewing if Sparks was fouled or if his toe was on the line.

I saw this game in person and I brought along one of my friends who was a UNC student at the time!

Kentucky basketball was back under Cal and this was the game that started it all!!!

I have rarely heard Rupp Arena louder than it was that day, and it was oh so sweet

What about MKG chase down block against Kansas?? They were about to cut it to 4 points with 1:00 left

Likely we still win, but that really sealed the deal!!!

Could you imagine a world where they hit than layup then come back and we still don't have a title under Cal or since 1998!

Thank you MKG!!!
