If true, that Allen news is intriguing.

So it just randomly comes out on the Friday that Bolden may (or may not) announce that Allen is no longer a UK option? May mean nothing at all, but that seems strange to me.

If he kept being told that he would only be able to commit if Bolden doesn't choose UK it would make sense. I wonder sometimes how some of these recruits handle being told we would love to have you but only if we don't get our first choice. Of course it depends on the school but I probably wouldn't handle it too well lol. I also of course have no idea if that is the case or not.

Can someone recap the last 12 pages? We getting him or not? When should I check back in?

UK is getting him and so is Duke. Depends on who you ask.
Coach K may have screwed the pooch by dissing another recruit but that's okay because he's a god and can do whatever he wants.
Marc M is in TN and still a jerk but he may come back someday, stay tuned.
Everyone on Rafters needs to carry a label. If you don't already have one you will be assigned one.
Matt Jones knows nothing about recruiting.

Regardless how this all goes down, this whole saga will do down in Rafters lore....just like Billy D's farm, Darius Rice, and KAT walking slow. We are witnessing history, embrace it...lol

Amen!

Also, FYI, Matt is going to give away a golf cart.
Kyle Dickhouse(sp?) won the golf cart.

Im not saying Matt is always right, but without a doubt he has been right enough times to show he has some good connections with either UK or recruiting people

Today, he is very neutral , saying no one really knows what to expect. My guess is that means he has talked to some UK coaching staff and they are in the dark here
Or they tell him they're in the dark simply to squash the speculation and let it lie so that Bolden can have his moment. Cal is always about letting kids have their moment, and that likely includes dropping no hints or leaking anything ahead of the possible announcement.

No one knows because Bolden hasn't decided yet, nor given any indication of a lean.

He definitely has been enigmatic.

But something happened roughly two weeks ago to get Meyer et al to start changing their picks. Drew Franklin, who to my knowledge has never entered the recruiting fray, heard something from someone.

Maybe it wasn't a lean, but a lot of folks were swayed by something somebody in the Bolden camp said.

I've often wondered the same thing. Coaches have to do a very delicate dance, in that case.

In order to take the holding position, it must mean kid #2 really wants to come to UK... so, knowing the talent level must be pretty close, it kind of makes me want to root for him. In this case, it sounds like it's Bolden or bust, now... so, if he picks dook, I know I'll find myself checking Allen's statistics, next season.

When I applied for a highly competitve grad school program, I was accepted at every school except the one I really wanted. They put me on the wait list due to the fact they were flooded with extremely qualified candidates. A week later my dream school sent me an offer and I accepted with a smile on my face. I felt they would better position me for the future. UK is light years ahead of any Texas school when it comes to getting a player ready and drafted in the nba. If you remove emotion and look at what's best, waiting for a spot at uk doesn't seem like a bad decision at all.

Maybe it wasn't a lean, but a lot of folks were swayed by something somebody in the Bolden camp said.

It was all how he answered his interview questions. When asked a question about Kentucky, he would answer it, but then say something about Duke as well. Whether that was in anticipation for being asked something about Duke or interest in Duke, nobody knows, but everybody assumed that he was a Duke lean based on that, then Adam Rowe said that he's as confident as ever that Bolden will be at Duke. Then the crystal ball picks shifted. Now there's information (a lot of it) that Bolden will pick Kentucky. The interview answers that Bolden has been coming up with over the past 3 days or so are favorable to Kentucky, and so on. Now it seems like things are shifting towards UK. That's the run-down.

So basically, it sounds like Duke *insiders* are a good bit more confident than UK *insiders*.

Correct?

Not anymore. There have been guys that follow Duke recruiting closely that think Bolden will end up at UK now. There are now national analysts who think he will end up at UK, and there really is a lot of talk on HOB with a ton of sources that say Kentucky is favored. Obviously there is no such thing as a lock in recruiting, but like I said, based on everything being produced over there from a number of different people, if you read all of it, you would walk away feeling incredibly comfortable that Bolden ends up at UK.

Can't speak for all of them, but some don't feel nearly as confident. They "would be shocked if it wasn't UK".

This was one phrase used by a guy that follows Duke recruiting, fwiw. When I say follows, I don't mean somebody that has Duke premium access. I mean somebody that produces recruiting scoop and content over social media, and has a pretty strong following, which generally means he produces good content.

If we land him Jerry meyer will probably cry. He's been lobbying for Bolden to Duke for weeks now.

Respectfully, no you don't. You know someone who SAYS they do. There is no such thing as 'insider knowledge'. People like to impress their friends with being 'special'. 18 year old co-students brag about everything from how what girl puts out to their drinking prowess. So as long as you listen when they talk, they happily tell you that DJ Butthole is the greatest musician since Beethoven, and that aliens built Rupp Arena. Claiming to be a best friend of X is easy. Coach's are no better...I mean, a National Magazine coming to your sweaty little gym and asking for your opinion? What an ego rush. OF COURSE they will leak super secret info that only they know. Don't ask them about the Sphinx, though...
Dude, you're as big of a fool as the fake insiders.

Not one person on here claims to know anything for sure, but I guarantee you that there are those who are friends with AAU coaches, H.S. coaches, ex UK players, family members of potential recruits and even current UK coaches.

My next door neighbor used to be the H.S. coach of 2 current NBA players and he told me stuff all the time.

For you to say that there is no such thing as someone with inside knowledge is ridiculous!

Are 90% of the people who say they know something full of crap?

Absolutely, but there are insiders in certain situations.

Jerry Meyer mentioned Josh Jackson and Kobe Bryant in the same sentence as well.
Oh yeah man I could not believe he said that. Jackson cant even shoot well at all. Hes just quick and athletic. Hell Id venture to say that he is more comparable to Wiggins, wiggins shot better and that is really saying something.

I once ignored a guy on a message board with awful takes.

'Takes"?? OMG, a Jim Rome sycophant.. Go ahead..call me 'Chris' on more time, Clone...I am too old to have 'takes'. I also dropped the Easter Bunny and comic books.

Look, people have been drawn to people who claim they have secrets and can predict the future for thousands on years. 'recruiting reporting ' is a fanboy's astrology. There is nothing to it. Just people playing on your wishes & hopes.

You're better off spending your money on Madame Cleo.

If we land Bolden it would be the true Fab Five according to Rivals:

PG Fox #5
SG Monk #6
PF Bam #7
SF Gabriel #17
C Bolden #16

That would blow Michigan's Fab Five away via the recruiting numbers.

My Goodness that's 5 of the top 17 players in America and all different positions!

Plus Killya Jones at #26 is wrapped up as well...That would be 6 of the top 26 players in America if Bolden commits.

Mind blowing.

No doubt! These guys are athletic freaks. This is going to be a matter of chemistry and maturing quickly. I'm liking our chances of putting ourselves in a position to make a serious run at the title next year with or without Bolden.
