Watching the evolution of the NBA has made me realize how far ahead of the game Rick Pitino was back in the day. "3 is more than 2." "Long 2s are bad." Simple and obvious concepts, but I'm not sure anyone grasped them as early as he did.

Thursday:

- Good for you Kobe fans, but I do now and always have hated his style of playing basketball. His way is everything I hate(d) about the NBA. One-on-one boring ********. Glad the Warriors and Spurs' styles are en vogue now.

- I hate a bright bar or coffee shop. I want my coffee shop poorly lit with sad bastard music playing and tatted/pierced/be-speckled 20-something babes pouring my joe. Starbucks marcus welby the Apple Store these days.

- Stayed at the lass's pad last night and the only lotion I had in my backpack was some Curve-scented **** my dad gave me. So, now I smell like 90s bro all day.

- 6 of the 13 NBAers who averaged a double-double this year are Wildcats. [thumb2]:grimace::basketball::fire:

- UCL mentioned it earlier this week, but yeah, excited to read Passan's "The Arm." Sounds awesome.

- What's your Mexican restaurant go-to order? I'm not talking about some trendy chic place. I'm talking about your typical Mexican hole in the wall where all the servers are Mexican. I lean toward chicken fajitas, but want to expand my horizons a bit.

- "Broad City" is hilarious. And I would give it to Ilana.

- Arizona's perimeter attack:

Kobi Simmons
Terrance Ferguson
Rawle Alkins
Allonzo Trier
Kadeem Allen
Parker Jackson-Cartright
Ray Smith

If I'm Miller, I just go 4-guard attack and play Ferguson or Smith at the 4. Hell, even that 7'0" Fin coming in is perimeter-oriented. Could be a helluva fun squad.

We rightfully hate his guts, but there is little doubt he's one of the GOAT. Frankly, I'm shocked he came back so strong after the Sypher thing and Calipari hire.

Rack this x100000. Add restaurant or sports bar to the list. Lighting is key for my mood.

Prime Example was our little NCAAT night a few weeks back. That first place we went was bright, shiny, and WAYYYY too clean -- which is typical of your chain sports bar. Just a terrible vibe for my tastes. Families & kids abound.

Dickman's was crusty w/ character, poorly lit, and pretty much perfect, shady patrons included.

#1. Queso Fundido con chorizo. Or sometimes chicken or shrimp. (depending on mood), extra tortillas.
#2. Burritos Al Carbon.

Wife & I will split the boss fajitas that come with chorizo/shrimp/steak/chicken on occasion as well.

Can't really go wrong with fajitas, fancy tacos or chimichangas.

But the best order will always be the queso fundido at that Mexican joint on Frankfort avenue. It's like a thick, cheesy heart attack on a boiling hot skillet. I'll forever be indebted to BBdK for this dining tip. He's a true friend.

Oh, and LOTS of chips and 2-fer-1 margaritas. Rocks, salt.

Speaking of my Ulis post, always enjoy Dad's takes on the friendliest Wildcats at these things. Keep in mind, my dad probably wears them out. He's one of those people who talks to everyone, doesn't know a stranger.

He LOVED:

Josh Harrellson (probably his favorite because when he asked Josh what he would've done if Sullinger stepped to him, he said "I would've kicked his ***.")
Darius Miller (mostly because of his dad)
Nerlens Noel
Karl-Anthony Towns

Also liked Goose Givens, Jeff Sheppard and Andre Riddick (of all people) from other signings and things.

We would have gotten kicked out of that first place by the U16 timeout in the 1st half. :100points:

Just a drop in the bucket at Dickmans, I love that place.

They always have 1-2 waitresses that are dope, too. And they keep it simple- UK tee-shirt and yoga pants. Good stuff.

I drive by Dickman's parking lot going to work or the gym and there are always cars there at 8 in the morning. Sign of a good sports bar imo

When I head back on Sundays from abn's I pass it on the ramp....usually half full on a Sunday morning, I assume from all the cars left there from the night before. Very responsible crowd/clientele imo when they aren't shooting people or whatever.

That one girl's *** in there. o_O Can't be many better in the area.

- Why can't Liggins become an NBA 3&D guy?

- Trae Young is so weird looking, but man, I love his game. Pure stroke. Good command. Lots of Tyus Jones in him.

- Is it just me or are UK fans the only ones who have a good grasp on Tubby Smith? There is no way he does better than mediocre at Memphis. Love the guy and wish him the best, but there's not a chance.

^ I work with a couple people know that worked for him at Target in Lexington. Even the Target CEO flew in a few weeks ago just to thank him for all of his work at Target through his career.

The Barbacoa Dorado Tacos at El Ranco Tapatio are :boom::boom:.

Hard to go wrong when choosing between that place and El Toro.

Ramiro's on Frankfort Ave has to be one of best the best American style Mexican joints in town. Their hot Salsa is :fire::fire::fire:

Dope patio setup. The key is sitting in the covered patio section with an overview. This time of year on a Wed-Fri there's smoked lassy's galore.

El Mundo is right across the street, hard to pass that up, although you have to time your visit propertly. Anyone checked out the new setup?

Their Habanero Marg (Mosquito) is the best Margarita I've ever had, anywhere.

Here in Texas there is a lot of brisket. Think my last Mexican order was brisket enchiladas.

"Winter Soldier" secretly might be better than "Avengers," and the same guys are making the new one, so I'm betting there's something to this praise.

Marvel is crushing DC in the shared movie universe. I think a big reason is that were able to build the franchise with second tier properties on strong, but not astronomical budgets. A studio is going to be much less invasive with Iron Man and Thor than Batman and Superman.

Winter soldier is basically a James Bond movie with Captain America playing 007. You could drop Bucky Barnes into a classic Bond and no one would bat an eye. Call him some sort of Soviet experiment.

Anyone who thinks Superman is too "boring" of a character to do right in a movie just needs to look at how Marvel has handled Captain America. He's as whitebread as it gets, but Marvel has crushed it with him.

Rick Pitino was also way ahead of his time on running a championship program that's backbone was the young ladies providing services to recruits and players. I see that as the way of the future for college sports.

DC just tried to do too much in one movie. Why they were so hell bent on shooting their wad right off the bat is beyond me.

The best thing Marvel did was to create their own movie studio. That way they can ensure that they stay true to the comic origins. DC still has to deal with Warner Bros and what not. Never underestimate a movie studio effing up a good idea.

The Marvel properties that have not been produced by Marvel studios have been garbage save for X Men and Deadpool.
